The House Mikaladis hails from a small seaside village in Atolia, a primarily Etosian province. For centuries, the main line of the family has dealt in sailing and merchantry, with a certain few members taking up other trades, such as wine-making and fabric production. Recently, they have come to Regalia in search of greater fortune. The move was pushed by the younger generation, feeling that Atolia has little left in the way of opportunity.

House Mikaladis has a strictly defined set of family values, a curious blend of Etosian customs and those picked up from other cultures during their many travels along with wholly invented ideologies. These include, first and foremost, respect for the family, especially one's elders. As a result, they are extremely close-knit, often being raised in homes with relatives extending over multiple generations. Second, they value humility, at least in the public eye. They tend to be polite almost to a fault, preferring to turn the other cheek rather than engage in conflict of any sort. Lastly, the Mikaladis work ethic is of great importance to the members of the House. They praise goal-oriented, driven workers and chastise those who slack off. An old family saying roughly states, "Those who do not work reap no reward."

A principle they believe in fervently is honor. In order to bring honor to the family, Mikaladis children are taught from a young age to never let an opportunity to help pass by. In combination with their values of humility and hard work, they're often stoic but warm-hearted and quick to lend a hand regardless of circumstance.

Although these guidelines are heavily emphasized, that isn't to say all members of the family hold strictly to them; in fact, the younger generation tend to prefer to ignore these altogether.

Men and women are equal in name, though each holds distinctly different roles in the family. The males are regarded as protectors, a man's duty first and foremost being to provide for his wife and any children they may have. Females are expected to run the household, a position given just as much if not a higher level of respect. Neither has dominion over the other, at least in theory, with this equal share of responsibility. While the women of the family have the duty to look after children, the men are expected to help, sometimes being given the sole responsibility in the case of an absent mother. In addition, these gender roles are only loosely enforced, and many females have lead as Matriarchs without male counterparts to rule alongside.

Mikaladis coloration has the most variation of all their features; they possess hair in shades ranging from black to light brown, and eyes in hues from olive green to hazel to all shades of brown. Despite these differences, they all share similar physical proportions, being of shorter-than-average height with curvy or plump figures. (This can likely be attributed to their love for communal feasts in celebration of almost any event, loaded with generous helpings of honey, olive oil, and especially wine.) Their complexions tend to be olive with a sun-kissed tan.

The exact origins of the Mikaladis are pretty fuzzy and mostly forgotten. They first arrived in Etosil somewhere around 40 AC as criminals exiled from their homeland, though the name had existed for many generations prior. They most likely joined a gang or even formed one of their own and conformed to the current lifestyle of the island, going on raids and such.

When the golden age came around in 62 AC, they began helping another family develop their own settlement, which grew into a large hold near the shore where they existed like this for nearly seventy years. All this was rather unremarkable, however, as what the most recent generations consider their true origins and rise to power started with Aristophantes Mikaladis and his sons, Amitryon and Alektryon.

Aristophantes was the lord's protection and commander of the guard of the hold his family resided in. He was married and had three sons and a daughter, though the daughter died shortly after being born and the third son was stripped of his family name and sent away to become a monk at a young age, in hopes of setting his unruly behavior straight. The two remaining and youngest boys were rumored to be bastards, as Aristophantes had many mistresses, though these rumors were never confirmed or denied.

127 AC, Etosil was invaded by Regalia. The hold the family lived in was one of the first settlements to be taken over. Aristophantes and his wife managed to escape, but his two sons weren't as lucky and they were held captive in their own home. To be truthful, they were treated rather well. Their lives didn't change all that much, other than they weren't allowed to leave the borders of the hold (not that they usually did anyway), their schooling shifted to be more Regalian based, and their parents weren't around. They were both still young, eighteen and sixteen respectively.

Amitryon, the oldest, accepted and grew to even embrace his new life, converting to Regalia's form of Unionism. Alektryon was different. Despite their fair treatment, all things considered, he resisted at every chance he had, despite the constant punishments he suffered because of it.

Aristophantes retreated to Thessalo to try and gather soldiers to repel the invaders. After spending months preparing to retake his hold and save his children, the men that had promised to assist him in his mission ended up betraying him and the soldiers that remained loyal to the cause. Him and his men retreated to an old fort and did their best to hold out, though it didn't really work out. He was given multiple chances to surrender, and after refusing each one, the fort was stormed and everyone inside was put to death, including him and his wife.

News got back to the two sons, and it filled Alektryon with rage. Despite the war having been over for months at this point, he still made plans to get outside help to fight against the Regalians. Amitryon tried to stop him, trying to make him see he wasn't going to achieve anything, though he ignored him and escaped.

He met with a small Szabadok warband known as the Galamb, Réginyelvich for dove. After promising them wealth, and displaying his knowledge of the language and culture, they agreed to help him take back his hold. And they did just that. After multiple hit and run attacks to weaken the hold's already skeleton-crew-like garrison, they laid siege on the town and took it back for the Mikaladis family. Alektryon had Amitryon executed for his cowardice the next day, marking the start of his bloody and harsh rule over the land.

By 130 AC, Alektryon Mikaladis had regained full unopposed control over the area. The Galamb band remained with him as his enforcers and happily served him. They themselves were strongly against the Regalians, and they were impressed by the fact that despite him not even being twenty yet, he'd achieved quite a lot, considering how quickly Etosil surrendered. To Alektryon, the war wasn't over, but despite his fierceness, he had almost no supporters outside of the Galamb. The rest of Etosil had already given in, and outside of his hold, he wasn't seen as much.

When the Regalians set up the blockade, he wasn't having it. He got ships and began attacking, though he didn't stop there. He also began raiding Etosil ships and seaside settlements, believing them to all be cowards and traitors. He lived a short life, dying at 36 to disease. He might've lived a lot longer, though his anger towards Regalia and his own people never faded, causing him to never back down to get the rest he needed, which led to the disease killing him far sooner than it should've.

He had many children. The older ones that were raised while Alektryon was in his prime had very similar views to his father joined him on his quest with no end, and ended up dying as a result. Later on in his life, he grew more distant, so he had less of a hand in raising his younger children as he did the older ones, and although they had similar views to him like the older ones, they weren't quite as extreme as his.

Many of his children died without having children on their own as a result of all this. Though one of his youngest sons, Cyneas, was different. He was only twelve when his father died, in 147 AC. Because of this, he spent his teen years raised by his mother, who definitely did not agree with her dead husband's views. Thanks to this, he lived a relatively peaceful life. She did her best to keep him from walking down the same path his father did, and did a pretty good job at it. The majority of the Galamb moved off with his few remaining older brothers to later die somewhere else after the man they were staying for died, which left Cyneas as the patriarch of the family. He was incredibly intelligent, using the family's proficiency in sailing and their fleet of ships to start trading rather than pirating, and used the few Szabadok that remained to keep their goods safe. He adopted their namesake, the dove, as the Mikaladis family animal.

By 160, the Mikaladis family had completely shifted from their generations upon generations of violence and death. By 170, the undead that had started plaguing their land a year earlier finally reached them, and Cyneas took his mother, wife, children, Szabadok fighters, and trading company to Atolia where the family would live in safety. Cyneas died at 72 in 207 AC, revered by his descendants for breaking the chain of violence the family had known for so many generations and for turning them into something truly successful.

In current times, the young, somewhat inexperienced Head of House, Thyolaeus, is highly ambitious, though with less of a focused method of leadership. To balance this out, his cousin, Athila, is the true brainpower behind the operation, taking to heart the examples of her revered predecessors. Following a recent move to Regalia, their main goal has been to establish trading partners, in which their success is yet to be determined.

Literally the worst post I've seen in a very long time. What even is a 'Mikaladis'. Poor choice in idea, words, and everything else. Please delete immediately.
