His father had many wives, so he never knew his mother, but it didn’t really matter as he didn’t spend much time with them anyway. Like any other Szabadok lad, his training began as soon as he could walk. His band, the Galamb (Réginyelv for dove), belonged to and willingly served a Etosian merchant family. Thanks to this, they were rather well off. He was taught how to read and write, basic combat strategies, and raise on two different languages. When he was three, his sister was born. Unfortunately, her mother went into labor at a very inconvenient time and so she reached up to hold the baby in place, not wanting to give birth without a midwife present. This deprivation of oxygen would go on to affect the child pretty badly. His sister struggled to walk or talk long after when she was supposed to, and when she did, she was unable to comprehend the training. She and Vladislas got along great, however. She didn’t get the care she required in her state from her parents, so he took it upon himself to give it to her. Though weakness was not tolerated in this family. It eventually got to the point where his father was beyond fed up and annoyed with them both. Annoyed with his daughter because she wouldn’t act how he wanted or retain the things he taught her, and annoyed with his son for catering to her condition, believing he only made it worse by doing so. When she was six and Vladislas was nine, she threw a temper tantrum. It was the straw that broke the camel's back. Vladislas was used to these by now so he began employing methods he’d known to’ve worked in the past. All of this infuriated the father beyond measure, and he drew his sword and cleaved the poor girl in two. Vladislas didn’t understand what had happened until after it was done. Vladislas was then beaten by his father for his ‘weakness’ as he called it. He claimed the boy’s coddling was the sole reason her condition lasted this long, and in turn blamed the boy for her death. The father had incredible anger issues, though he was an incredibly talented soldier and trainer, so this was treated as just a little accident that happened sometimes. Vladislas was filled with grief, and did his best to be what his father wanted him to be in an attempt to avoid situations like these again. He truly believed it was his fault. Teenage Years (15 - 19) Vladislas spent the next few years of his life dedicating himself to training. His sister, the only thing he had really known as far back as he could remember, was gone and never coming back. He finally entered service for the family’s company when he was fifteen, starting as a simple guardsmen for their merchant ships and overseas endeavors. He kept himself away from things like partying and heavy drinking, using his sister’s memory to keep himself grounded. He existed to serve the family, and nothing more. He killed his first man at sixteen, along with his second, third, and fourth, protecting one of the family’s caravans from bandits. He continued to live like this, traveling around with the family’s goods to keep it safe for a good while, proving his loyalty in battle time and time again, until he was nineteen when he was transferred to the family’s personal guard. Adult Years (20 - 25) He stayed by the younger member’s sides, keeping them safe like a loyal dog. Despite his hollow personality, and thanks to their bubbly ones, he developed some form of friendship with a lot of the family members, growing a deep love for each of them. Although the pain and grief he felt for his sister growing up has mostly faded, it’s still his main motivation for everything. He used it to keep himself in check, and although his lack of individuality might’ve been a facade back then, it’s now just who he is. He now resides in Regalia with a few of the family members, exercising his rights as a Szabadok to wear armor to keep them safe.
