Unionism Reworked From The Ground Up

Kind of an ambitious project, especially for how quickly it was completed, and one that will likely have considerable ramifications to roleplay. The rework for Unionism was done for a variety of reasons:
  • It is too difficult to energize players into Unionism rp. The religion has a bad rep as standard racism.
  • Unionism is too much like a catholic analogy, which makes more players want to avoid it.
  • Unionism doesn't have enough fantasy elements to fit in a fantasy world.
  • There is a constant bleeding of characters who have been unionists their entire life "but actually atheist hihi" or just instantly abandon their religion when a flying rock tells them their faith isn't real. This is considered fail-rp, so by making Unionism more attractive, the hope is that faith-lost bleeding will be stopped.

Other pages like the Liturgical Calendar, Heroes of Unionism etc. still need to be rewritten. Peripheral pages like the Emperor list also needs a few facelift updates, and the curator of Unionist lore Firefan96 will probably eventually update all of them.

Here is a list of all changes:
  • The Spirit is now called The Everwatcher, though Spirit can still be used as a quick-term.
  • Changed the # of Creeds to a single "The Creed" holy book.
  • Simplified the history of Unionism that isn't super relevant.
  • The Spirit is no longer the only monotheistic divine being. Unionism is now a polytheistic faith, with 7 additional God Emperors or Empresses. These each have more personalized approaches to Unionism so there's more overall inclusivity.
  • Gave all the God Emperors and Empresses pog art.
  • We will rework the Liturgical Calendar soon.
  • We will rework the Sacraments of Unionism soon.
  • Changed the Etosian Schism to Evintarian Schism, and changed the outlook. Instead of disagreeing on whether there should be Living Herons, the Evintarians and Dogmatic Unionists disagree on the value of the divine word: Evintarians believe anything the Emperor says is holy regardless of whether they write it down in The Creed, while Dogmatic Unionists reject that notion and only uphold The Creed as the ultimate divine word.
  • Diviner Schism was demoted to just a Cult, and clarified that they are now extinct.
  • Kleine Rechnung was retconned and moved to Trivia as something else.
  • Priscelle Schism was retconned, their beliefs made a bit more palatable, and moved to a Cult.
  • Vultar Schism was moved further back in history to make more sense, and given a more logical timeline.
  • Vultdragon Unionism renamed to Vultragon Unionism.
  • All Schisms have their own page explaining the comparisons between the Schisms, as this would be too much information for the main page.
  • Tenth Creed Events was retconned from lore.
  • Slew a whole slew of sects from lore, and consolidated a few. Also included Leafmc's "church" as a Sect.
  • Upgraded the Dogartan Sect to a Schism but made it a more peaceful(™) Schism.
  • A lot of concepts in theology were changed, we removed a bunch of Christian analogies from Unionism and allowed more interpretive freedom beyond the sins and virtues. This means that strictly speaking all forms of Unionism are more pro-lgbt, pro-gender-equality, pro-non-Ailor, etc.
  • Completely changed worship practices
  • Changes the Trivia.
  • The page now also features a Lexicon explaining all terms used on the page for ease of reference.
  • Clarified a Creation Theory, something Unionism was always missing.
  • Unionism was made a lot more accessible to other races. We completely broke down religious divisions for all Races, meaning races are kind of roughly equal in the eyes of the Everwatch, except for Ailor, who are kind of like the "Captains" of all Races, and have the burden and responsibility of pulling the Great Way forward.
  • Allowed non-Ailor-Critical views with backwards compatibility through the Vierzehn Cult.
  • Added some more nuance to the violence caused by Unionism, so there's a more intelligent debate to be had about whether Unionism is a violent religion or not.
  • Reworked all words and phrasing so we removed as much of Catholic analogies as we could.
  • Reworked Worship. No more church sermons. No more masses. All of this is now personal, 1-on-1 or 1-on-small group rp, or just passive worship at a shrine through offerings.
  • Gave priests a list of cool things to do, so that priests are less crazy bloodthirsty screamers calling for the burning of aberrants and non-Ailor, and more act like therapists and social community workers.
  • Added some southern baptist communal activities (thank you for the suggestion Spunsugar)
  • Reworked Herons so that part of the soul of the God or Goddess Emperors reincarnates into the soul of a person and creates them Heroes of Unionism the new name for Herons of Unionism. (thanks for the suggestion of reincarnation Waterdruppel).
  • All in all 19 pages of brand new content
  • Ascension of Unionism isn't canon anymore.
Hopefully this will convince players that Unionism is an interesting religion worth investing in, and that we can kick up a new renaissance of Unionism faithful. We will build all the Temples of Unionism eventually and demolish the Cathedral/Churches. We will also contact Quest Staff to discuss the possibilities of turning the Cloister Trials into actual quests in game that priest characters can guide pilgrims through for religious rp.

Quickly snuck the Ængel sect in there to provide a basis for Breizh Cult Unionism.
 
Just to note, these changes are OOC, not IC. All of this is backwards "canon".
