The Rebel Ordeal- Game Thread

Film had loosened the ground around the base of the stake with the hoe. With a bit of effort, he pushed the stake over so that it fell to lie horizontal with the earth and the body could be reached. "He had no will. Probably no family." Film looked up at the setting sun. "Are we burying the poor sod today or should we wait until tomorrow?"

Oxoman breaths a deep sigh of relief as all the remaining votes are retracted, looking acroos towards the body with a sad look on his face. "I feel it would be best to do it now, we would not want him rotting. Mad or not, he deserves respect. I'll start digging, and you can take over when I'm tired. Sound good? As for lynching, we should wait another night; perhaps a guard will find something out."

"I can bless the grave"
Peter said solemnly.
"Every man deserves last rights"

With unease in the air from the accusations that had flown around, and the body of the mad clown removed from the town square, everyone retires to their homes for the evening.

Oh, the horrors that awaited the citizens this following morning as they warily drew open their windows to look outside. In the center of the square, a trail of blood leading from the direction of the harbor to the base of the tree could be seen. It looked as though the body had fallen from a very great height, but was now slung from the tree tarred and feathered. Upon closer inspection, it revealed the body belonged to Oxoman , the town's Sailor. Evidence suggested that he was killed by a Rebel. In his pocket, a paper containing his will could be found:

Night One:
Tried to watch Azas
Was distracted: Tavern Drunk or Hex Mage?
OldMan (Mad Clown) killed by rebels.

A murder note is pinned to his shirt collar, stained with tar:

There once live a folk from city
Who's life is now over you pity
The games just begun
But oh look at all the fun
And the bodies in tree are so pretty

The Sailor, to everyone's dismay, was not the only body to be found that morning. Not too far away, in the alleyway of the home formerly belonging to the Mad Clown, a body lay pale and cold. The body belonged to none other than Madus , the town's very own Regalian Guard. The bite marks in his neck indicated that he had been drained by a Vampire, a silent and dangerous killer indeed. Tucked away in the Regalian Guard's investigatory book, the following was found:

Dear people of regalia. I was you guard, sadly I got killed. You have to know Brycea1111 is a Citizen Not a rebel or evil doer. I won't say more because then the rebels would also know. Do not lynch him. I know this because I investigated him earlier.

I was trying to investigate Oxoman this night. But someone killed me.

Also the people that are quiet might be bad. They keep quiet so you don't notice them and won't lynch them, although this is only a guess.

A blood smeared parchment lays solemnly on top of the cold flesh of this body found at sunrise, the entire note seems to be written in red-ish ink... or blood. If one were to take the parchment from the corpse and gaze upon its words it would read...-

~o~

Oh you silly silly humans, all this petty fighting when there are more pressing matters at hand. My kind are on the hunt, and we hunger for blood. This person was the first, and will not be the last. I will assist you Regalian's though, as I do not wish for my lovely livestock to be wiped out by the few humans that call themselves, Rebels. As I was stalking this lad last night, I heard Volkmarus and starkiller_117 talking with each other about the kidnapping and murder of PandaSkies. Make of that as you will.

"Now, let's look at some odds here," began Azas, speaking to whoever was listening. "There are twelve of us left. Six are civilians, six are either rebel affiliated or just evil characters in general. Now, if I take myself out of that number, because I know I'm a civilian, it leaves five civilians, and six wrongdoers. So, the odds are in my favor to vote to lynch someone. Whereas if we go into tonight without lynching anyone, the odds are against us civilians in terms of survival, as the rebels have three they know are rebels, so it would be 6/9 chance of civilian versus evil character. For the vampire, it'd be 6/11 chance to kill a civilian. As such, I'd venture that it makes sense to lynch someone, but who?"

She'd come outside, her eyes widening in complete shock, the same as last night. It was happening again, she'd stare at the figure that had looked as if it was a bird, but no. It was a human, a innocent human. She'd slowly approach it, taking the piece of parchment, and slowly reading along it's words, her heart beginning to beat fast, and even faster. She'd place the parchment back on the ground, and turn to the group. "I vote to lynch Volkmarus." she'd say, already making her decision. She didn't need more proof, she had all the proof she needed, she'd clench her fists as tears make their way down the woman's cheek, falling to her knees, and holding her hands to her face.

Ted let out an agitated huff, two people dead? No, that couldn't be. Someone should've done something. He clenched his fists, a sneer growing on his face before he turned away and went to head back to his home, he was disgusted.

After catching up with events...
"Azas makes a good point. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean he's innocent. Oxoman, however, seems to have forsaken the faith." She pauses, hesitant, and simply waits for further responses.

Upon awakening and opening his window only to find the grisly scene that confronted them that next day, Film appeared as though he was going to be physically sick. He walked outside to more closely inspect the body of Oxoman, strung up in the tree. He gagged, and leaned forward, placing a hand on the tree to support himself, while he tried to keep the vomit within.

He heard the others' cries for Volkmarus' blood, and awaited Vokmarus' rebuttal.

((Whoops, totally misread the night's events. Disregard what I said about Oxoman.))

Billy would walk to his front door, being supported by his good old trusty walking stick and look out to the commotion, he noted the new bodies and sighed deeply at the havok of the city these days, wishing that he had stayed in the country all along.

"Azas is right. We have to be certain that the person we are going to lynch is a rebel or that bloody vampire. We do however need to lynch someone else, so I will follow the consensus, and
Vote Volkmarus. I just hope that what we are doing is right this time."

Film waited and waited, but no rebuttal from Volkmarus was forthcoming. "I don't trust a Vampire's word, but Volkmarus' silence is equally as disturbing. I vote to lynch Volkmarus too," he said.

[Does Volk count in the number that we need for majority? To elaborate, we currently have six votes for his death. If it were six out of eleven (he clearly isn't going to vote for himself), we'd have majority, but if he was included we'd need another vote to push us over to the majority.]

Stat emerged from his house, sleepless and scared for his life. The monsters had tarred and feathered a man from the looks of it, and the note attached, aprrantly in limerick form, didn't help ease his mind on the situation. These murders were insane, and that was the end of it. Walking over to the group, only one, small whisper could be heard.

I vote to lych volkmarus

7 total votes would be needed to lynch someone at this time. The votes will be tallied at the end of the day.

Brycea slowly clambered out of his house, stepping out onto the courtyard once again "What in the gods name are we all yelling about, wanting to Lynch random people? What is this blasphemy?!" @ everyone

The cries for a lynching drowned out the cries of protest from @Brycea1111 , with a majority of the town calling for the end of @Volkmarus . Together, they went and pulled the poor man from his house, still half asleep and incoherent. They pitted him to a stake, in their anger and fear burning the man alive after searching his pockets and removing anything of worth. Only afterwards did they manage to find some sort of identification upon his person, identification bound to only sicken the Regalian Citizens more. They had just lynched the Orc Guard, a poor illiterate Orc who had made a living off of protecting people in the evenings. He hadn't even known what hit him. Due to his illiteracy, he had no written will. In silence, everyone returned to their homes.

Murmured to himself quietly, slightly glad he hadn't voted to lynch the wrong person. Ted was rather frustrated about the whole ordeal, the killing of the citizens was meant to be left for the rebels, not the other townsfolk. After standing around for a while Ted would move to trudge back to his home, a solemn expression on the man's face.

The brisk, cold morning carried with it the chill of death once more. Within the town square, what could only be described as a withered plant lay collapsed. @Azas , the Yanar, appears to have been attacked by a Vampire last night. The death was clean, all traces of blood having been removed even from the body. There is no will, nor a murder note left behind this time. Oddly enough, there are no deaths caused by the Rebellion last night. Perhaps they were waiting to strike, or perhaps someone had thrown a temporary wrench in their plans.

*cries bent over the Yanar body*
Why did it have to be you why!
*sobs harder, willing the plant to come back to life*

Although not easily noticeable, there was a second death the night prior. The creak of an open window would draw eyes to the home of @Endurrr , and a body just visible where it lay slumped in the doorway. It seems as though, after all the events, the Treasonist couldn't push himself to have the Citizens lynch a member of their own and hence committed suicide. He left no will behind.

[[Aka killed off due to inactivity and no planned participation in the future]]

The entire town was silent throughout the day, no one emerging from their homes and no cries for a lynching heard.

(A bit delayed on this by several hours, but I wasn't able to access the internet this morning).

The morning brings a bit of chaos, a carriage crashed against the side of the road, a body just visible within the carriage. The horses which had been strapped to the carriage were now loose in the town's square. The Carriage Driver, @Film_Noir , was attacked and slain by a vampire this evening. One of his horses was found nibbling at the edges of a paper, containing his will.

The Will of Film Noir

I find myself in the need to make sure that all of my affairs are in order, in the event that some terrible fate should befall me, in these sudden, unsettling times that we're experiencing. This is my Last Will and Testament.

First, some explanations for my actions over the past few nights.

Night 1: I transported nobody, unaware of what terrible destiny awaited one of us; namely, the Mad Clown.

Night 2: After some heated discussion about the grisly occurrence of the night before, I came to the conclusion that, as bothersome as he was, Oxoman was no rebel; merely a citizen acting out of panic. I fear for his life now. Thus, I decided to act: to transport him to safety, swapping his position with someone else who remained quiet throughout the day. Somebody whom it is harder to tell whether he holds evil intent or not...Azas.

Night 3: Alas! My efforts to protect Oxoman failed. As I set out on my trip, my horses and I were distracted by a Tavern Drunk; or worse, a Hex Mage. Oxoman paid the ultimate price. The following day, Azas rallied the mob (myself included) into lynching Volkmarus. Only after Volkmarus' death did we realise what we had done. I am highly suspicious of Azas now. Tonight, I transport myself to PandaSkies' place. Why? Because the note found on Madus' body claimed that Volkmarus aimed to kidnap and murder PandaSkies. If Vokmarus was good, maybe PandaSkies if evil? If evil comes to visit me tonight, then evil will find only more evil, i.e. PandaSkies, instead.

Night 4: The town has numbed itself into an eerie silence. I was very wrong about Azas. The poor plant was one of us after all. Still no information on PandaSkies. I'll transport myself to her place again tonight.

I can only hope that my action proves to be an informative one. I leave my fortune, what little there is of it, to my trusty horses, Nutmeg and Ginger. May they continue to transport the good citizens of the Archipelago, until they retire to a gentle life of apples and hay bales. I do wish you all the best against the Rebellion. For the Empire!

Signed,
Film Noir,
The Carriage Driver.

Once more, Billy looks out of his window to witness the scene, listening to the will being read out, all of his suspiscions were now on Pandaskies. He would wait for the others to speak up before voicing his own opinion.

Panda would come out of her house, hearing the racket of her own self being lynched, giving a gasp and turning to the crowd, feeling heavily insulted. "Why are you lynching me? I haven't done anything. Hmm, you're all not getting it aren't you. There's someone out of this group who's been lynching everyone, just to save their self from the others lynching, acting /innocent/." she'd turn her head, going a narrow, and straight finger towards nobody else but Party_Penguin27. "What about you? What's /your/ excuse for all of this? Running to the first person dead, acing like you're /so/ sad." she'd give a scoff, crossing her arms. "Until you give a reasonable answer to all of this, I vote to lynch Party_Penguin27."

Would listen to Panda's retort. "She does have a point, I withdraw my vote until I hear more on this, but right now, I do not wish to lynch another of our own."

Ted was already outside inspecting the scene, he'd turn towards the others with a frown on his face, "Honestly it sounds like you're trying to escape verdict, mrm. Trying to pin it on the first person that calls you out? Suspicious.

I also (don't have access to bold) vote to lynch PandaSkies." He'd say, holding his hands by his side as his gaze flickered between the few.
