Backstory/Plothooks

(Since this backstory makes assumptions and creates incidental characters in relation to the Anima, I would be more than fine with advice and eyes to make sure this is all above board before the magestorm lifts. The idea is that her magic is supposed to be a metaphor for a traumatic experience, and, on a more literal level, having done something to offend the Fae. The idea is The Azure Heart or The Many aren't supposed to be massive, significant figures of The Anima-- more like a small, relatively insignificant regional oddity.)

Ophelia Bergamot Earlgrey is a young woman who grew up in a Kintyr village in good company and fair graces. She had no true adversity in growing up, as her family is derived from The Bronsons (A long lineage of academics) and the Earlgreys (owners of a prominent tea company). While not living like royalty, Ophelia lived a very comfortable life, in which she spent her entire childhood and most of her early adulthood reading and studying for fun in her childhood home's attic. Eventually she was able to go to a cheap, chartered community school to get some degree of higher education, that which she finished so as to set out on her own and finally do what her dream was destined to be. See, the Bronson family has a beautiful, eclectic tome known as the Bronson Family Seminal Encyclopedia, A complete culmination of the family's findings condensed into one book. One person per each generation is designated to be the Book Bearer, a small tradition that entitles the one chosen to hold and compile their life's work into the Encyclopedia until they either retire, or until they perish in so doing.

(The backstory past this point is pending, and won't be canon until it's confirmed it's all above board.)

Ophelia always had a fascination with the Fae when she was younger, especially the many that plagued the fields and forests surrounding their home and neighboring villages. Despite being advised to not do so, she began studying the fae-- something that led her to being briefly swept through the partial, damaged veil that was causing the fae to seep through so actively to begin with. Unaware of the danger she was in, she became fascinated with the beautiful, verdant garden she found herself upon, partaking in what seemed to be an innocuous fruit from the brief reprieve of what had been prior a mortal chase by a wretched Pookah. In reality, what she consumed was something she would never know was named the Azure Heart, a magical fruit grown for an absurdly long time by the nameless Many, a powerful, ancient fae that manifests as a Pando-like expanse of Birch Trees that cover an entire small forest that takes up a tiny part of the Anima. The Many, in accordance to a pact with the fae that helped it grow so prolifically, produces the Azure Heart once every hundred years, and its flesh blesses the fae that partakes. Some went on to become great leaders, faequeens and faekings... And a stupid ailor just so happened to find it on accident. Considering they aren't a fae, it seemed to have no effect, and now they had everything, Seelie AND Unseelie, attempting to partake in her blood to attempt to drink the Azure Heart's nectar from her split veins. One was nearly successful, too-- It took all of ten minutes for the helpless woman to be cornered, and struck down with a fell cleave. Just then, she'd fallen right back through the veil, leaving her just barely alive as she made a miraculous recovery thanks to to medics and mages of her home reality saving her life. She never saw anything from the Veil again-- and to this day she isn't sure it truly happened. All she knows is that she still feels unseelie eyes staring at her from past a barrier she cannot see... And a frail twig such as she can only skirt death so long...

Sounds like someone's living on borrowed time after taking something that wasn't theirs.

PLOT HOOKS
As Ophelia is a relatively new character, their plot hooks have to do with how they came to be in Regalia more immediately than most. As this character gets elaborated upon, these will inevitably change.
  • Mages can spot other Mages, and despite the fact that Ophelia seems to act mundane, she is VERY strongly Anima aligned. It's like she's not even aware she's magical-- or pretends vehemently that she isn't.
  • Ophelia's family, the Earlgreys, are VERY prominent tea traders. Maybe it's your character's favorite carrier, or they stock their product at their store.
  • Academics rejoice, Ophelia owns a store in service of all academics in Regalia: Earlgrey and Bronson Co.! Get some educaitonal texts, sell her some specimens, buy some tea to go with that book... You name it?
  • To anything Fae or Anima aligned... The Azure Heart beckons. It's alluring. It wants to be taken. It wants fae to want it. It's in her blood-- blood that must be spilled to take its blessing back for its rightful owners.

Combat Proficiencies and Abilities

Magic Alignment:
VERY STRONGLY Anima.
Magic Origin: Blessing
Magic Training: Book

Attack Stat
: Magic
Defense Stat: Magic

Ophelia's Azure Heart blessing gives her "prevalence over the Seelie that walk beneath my branches". As such, she is able to mimic the traits of animals (and sometimes fae) that she studies. As such, when she copies an enemy, it will instead manifest as odd, monster-adjacent mimicry that roughly does the same thing that the enemy can.
