New World = New Nether?

I would enjoy this. The Nether is pretty barren- not just normal nether barren but barren even for it. I wouldn't mind seeing a custom nether somehow made. I know there are ways, WorldPainter is a magical thing. Actually Ill even look into it and see if I can like, idk. Suggest it or make it e-e reeee

The Nether is just an orientation of blocks. It can easily be re-created in an overworld setting.

The nether also has certain mechanics that are different from the overworld though, i.e. no water, no beds, different skybox, etc. Not that it really matters much to me, but just putting it out there. Is it not possible to have a separate nether? Also any chance of getting an end dimension as well?

I'm not really sure having a world with less gameplay choices is really worth something. The Nether is just an environment, the materials can be turned into ores or even surface blocks, volcanic islands etc. I don't see any specific value in separating that into a nether world and then block a few features that would allow players to make full use of it.

Yeah I would honestly prefer to have a nether just to have the option to build a unique faction base there, due to the fact that it just has different terrain with lava lakes and stuff like a bedrock ceiling and floor but besides that its not a huge deal.

I don't think people would be up in arms if you told them there wasn't going to be a new nether, but at the same time I think people would be happy to have one if it was possible.

Some people may like the challenge imposed on them. A world with nether mechanics may feel more dangerous and thrilling than a nether biome with safer overworld mechanics. There's also the immersion factor of venturing into a different and hostile world where even the gameplay mechanics themselves are different.

Thats my take on it really. Importing a map and setting it as the nether should work I think? So it shouldn't be any more difficult than adding any other map. As with the end: I would love to have one. Its just, cool. Though, more maps means more lag and issues. Which is what the new changes are trying to avoid. So.

I agree with Enkiduu. The whole thing with the portals and such makes it much more immersive. I personally was attracted to massivecraft after seeing a friend's faction in the nether. However what you have already done with the nether islands is also cool. I think that, if you aren't willing to have a whole separate nether dimension, try and see if you can enable nether portals only on a few small islands. That way the nether is small, but the portal mechanic is still there and you have another layer of added depth to the mechanic: that only certain places allow nether portals. Idk, that was kinda a quick idea.

Please add a stable, non resetting nether. Not just an overworld biome with nether like aspects. We need a proper nether (whether it be fire and brimstone or a custom massive world) that has the dimensional properties of a normal nether within minecraft.

Why?

It adds a hyper challenging realm of play with contested resources and it also allows, if mirrored to the overworld, increased spatial travel (ie where distances traveled in the nether are actually longer in block count when mirrored to the overworld). Essentially the nether is a conduit of travel and resource gathering, but it is also inherently more deadly than the overworld. This is fun, fun because it provides more challenge, difficulty, and conflict than the overworld.

This would also make land, if contestable in the nether, very valuable.

I also simply love the idea of factions in the nether, or some alternative realm. You could easily use world painter to make a "realm" that functions within minecraft as the nether (resource generation, dimensional properties, etc) while still having it be custom content.

Perhaps you could work it into the lore of the new world? If that's a thing. It's like a magical dimension.

As Enkiduu said, there is an inherent fun factor in venturing into an alien world. It's a small feature, but it's more content that can be easily added and used by players who do wish to use it, and not used by those who don't.

So why not add it?

I would just add another nether for the new world, whats the big deal about putting all the blocks in the overworld?

In my opinion, I don't think that re-constructing netherlike environments equates to having a functional nether realm.

I personally like having a pocket dimension of sorts that is parallel to the primary continuum, ie the overworld.

This is different than having a separate map because by normal minecraft standards, the overworld and nether linked spatially and one may "fast travel" by using the nether. This means the worlds are simultaneously linked and alive, rather than disjointed and separate. One world may directly influence the other, or at least players may use the nether to influence the overworld.

If you added nether environments to the new overworld (which I am all for!) it still doesn't functionally accomplish what a nether world accomplishes.

I'm biased though because I love playing in the nether.

I'm totally agreeing with you I'm just saying why is it such a big deal that we can't just get another nether

Simi-on topi but I think we CAN have more than one world with nether properties now that I think about it. Multiverse lets you.

So we could have the vanilla "Rift" one or w/e its called now and a custom one.
