Family History
At the beginning of the year 307 AC, the Two noble Houses Carwell and Longsae merged together after the death of Robert Carwell and Aeoraed Longsae, both patriarchs of the two Houses. Merging together under Harric van der Veer, of the Longsaean Branch, these two families would now work as one.
With the time known as the 'Month of Sadness' in the House history, where a dozen members of the House died in quick secession to each other, House van der Veer once again looked outward for friends and allies. The Colonial Conflict soon began where House Rote invaded House Sterke-enn and House Viduggla's colonies, where House Blackjaw and House van der Veer marched to their aid. A war soon erupted with many more Houses joining, Peirgarten Yaotl and Frisque against the alliance, Tyrannian and Skarpsten with it, the Colonies being turned into a bloodbathe. House van der Veer took a large hit within the war, by being back-stabbed by Peirgarten after a non aggression pact was made between the two where four thousand Veermen were killed. Peirgarten being the prime suspect House of bringing forth the Mourning Month, this finalized a rivalry between House Peirgarten and House van der Veer, where a large amount of resentment against Peirgarten comes from the House. Afterwards we joined a war with House Tyrannian against a large coalition of anti Veer Houses, those being Delmotte, Peirgarten, Ravenstad, Black, and Harhold, where we ended up losing the war and being kicked out of the Veer, giving it to Harhold rather than submitting to Delmotte or Peirgarten, spending time as a protectorate under House Harhold in Essalonia.

House Longsae was originally founded by Aelfric Longsae on 151 AC, the first man to take the name Longsae after he split from an unknown House. For much of it's earliest upbringing the House was of a merchant class, the original Aelfric trading on his boat "The Honored," passing it from generation to generation, until it was burned down by Varrans on a trip to Ithania in 244 AC. At this time of a loss of ships, the House took to using the crew and it's followers as a mercenary band, taking on the name "The First Company" in the Angle Veer, acting as a sort of group of Hedge Knights with the honor code to "never fail or leave their 'renter' until the rent is done, or the actions of the renter go against the honor of the company and House Longsae." They fought in the Chrysant War for House Carwell, and continued to fight for the Veer, the company growing. In 288 AC, The Honored was rebuilt, along with two other ships, The Companion and The Silken Maiden, making up a small merchant fleet of the House, traveling from Ithania to the archipelago, gaining the House immense amounts of wealth. They expanded their one company to three, fighting against Harhold in 306 AC when he invaded the Angle Veer, once again for House Carwell. In August of 306 AC, House Valdepoort, Baron of Valdepoort, died, leaving no heirs to their throne. With the wealth the House gained from their three merchant ships and mercenary work, they bribed their way through the courts of the local lords, and rallied the peasants to make "The Companion Uprising," fighting against House (In a google doc, too lazy to find it atm) for the Throne, eventually taking it. On November 17th, 306 AC, Aeoraed Longsae, fifth patriarch of the House, took the title Baron of Valdepoort, and became noble. Later on, he joined the Second Veer Coalition, as the House fought for the first.
The family can trace their heritage back to the days of the Five Family Rebellion. During these times the men and women of the poor farming family proved themselves as capable fighters in the Ivrae army. This is when they gained their sigil and words.
When the founder of house Carwell was assaulting on of the old king's forts he yelled up to the remaining defenders, ordering them to "Bleach their banners" to show that they were willing to surrender.
Supposedly they got the sigil of their house when a wounded sparrow, a messenger bird of the Ivrae army, flew to them carrying a message ordering them to prepare to help lay siege to the city of Regalia. The bird quickly died after delivering the letter, and the men of house Carwell took the creature as their sigil.
After the Five Family Rebellion ended house Carwell were made landed knights, and they remained that way for around two hundred years, fighting in almost every Regalian war.
But this changed when their liege lord died, leaving no heirs to his small amount of land. House Carwell was chosen to take their place.
They soon set about raising proper soldiers and building one of the strongest castles in the empire, The Hand of Man.

In recent years the family has continued to militarize, and now comes to Regalia to aid in the war effort against the elves.
