I still say the legs look too bare. I like the top half, but the legs just feel... naked... Its bizarre (Ill probably get used to it if thats the final design lol but for now its weirding me out)

Yea, the legs put me off. Maybe some simple color variation could be used down there? I dunno XD

The main reason they were able to defeat the dwarves in combat was due to their well armored legs... those don't look very armored...
I'm assuming that the skin itself retains its leathery quality. So I don't really have that much of a problem with that.

The Dakkar do not have a large amount of growths on their legs, so this wouldn't have really effected them against the dwarves, who aimed lower down.

meh I give up... I saw a different view on the race but now they are just mindless brutes

the dakkar NEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDD TAILS THO

Dakkar were always brutes. They are naturally armored lizard-men with physical capabilities greater then that of any (normal) ailor, and with the mentality of a religious extremist.
If this makes them dumber, then it won't really effect many people's RP, as very few people portrayed them as smart in the first place. (and if someone wanted to, then tbh, who's stopping them?)

But I agree with your last statement, DAKKAR NEED TAILS!

TAILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From a design perspective, the inclusion of tails with some rocky structures on them would balance out how top heavy the new Dakkar are, but I'll admit, I have a soft-spot for designs like these, where the character has scrawnier/less defined legs and are much more built on top. It's sorta cute n' cartoony. I really like the new designs, they're just a bit unbalanced due to the lack of any variation in the legs as opposed to the variety on top. (Really, in roleplay, this shouldn't matter much, but the designs would be stronger with something around the legs.)

I don't think the new update'll impact current characters too much at all, and in fact, I'm excited. The large majority of Dakkar were played out as big, strong, angry lizard men, even if the creators of those characters didn't make their characters appear as buff as the new designs. This new update will help a lot. I don't think there needs to be a new subrace instead of completely revamping, especially from the points MonMarty brought up.

The original Dakkar implementation is bad. The vast majority of Dakkar role-players misinterpret or misuse the lore to power-game their way into corrupting the original concept in ways that it was never meant to be used. This is partly to blame on my own inadequate writing skills when the first iteration of Dakkar lore came out.

The new lore is more in depth and specializes the Dakkar into a specific mold or niche of gameplay that currently does not exist in our lore, that of the true "Tank" (you could argue that Orcs are tanks, but they are more offensive tanks where we lack a purely defensive race at this point). As with any rewrite, rewrites are done to target the 90% that misuse, with the collateral damage of hurting the 10% that do not. It sounds like a sucky business model, but I find this collateral damage "acceptable" when it comes to the benefits of fixing up messy messy writing.

I'm sorry your character has to change in ways you do not like, but I will not change the plans for personal dislikes/distastes of individual players when the "common good" is what is necessary. The new Dakkar race is fairer in every day roleplay, less liable to have it's entire core concept twisted to suit a player only interested in win-rp and much more in depth with more content and stuff to work on.

meh I still can't get the idea of a brute into my head after seeing the slim old dakkar that were pretty agile but I give up do what ever you want... I have been working on an Otherly rp project

Dakkar weren't ever supposed to be agile. They're big rock warrior men, y'know. All strength. Raaah.

Agree'd, people still need to make skins for the Dakkar, and more experienced skinners do appreciate a little bit of variation.
Not every Dakkar wears pants (or anything for that matter, as their genitals are not visible), and while I am fine with them not having any sort of extra hardened growth on their legs, I would appreciate at least a color difference. It would balance the image out a bit. (at least in my opinion)

Maybe the older dakkar would be more agile, at the loss of their physical power (seeing as they get weaker as they age), but tbh, if you want a strong and fast character, I'd suggest a Wulong.

Im considering making a few skins based on the new Dakkar look (well, soon-to-be new Dakkar look) with a few color variations for people to use as bases. but i am kind of... busy / a mess atm so

I still have this, and so, I return it back onto you, the peps of Massive RP.

Oh btw this was drawn by Marty about 2 years ago.
I don't know why everyone is so worked up over tail. The wiki page never specified how short or invisible it actually is. Because it is.

Link to the only image that actually exists of Dakkar physiology
Not to knock you off your high horse, but you literally necroed this thread that was last posted on over a month before your post to link an image that Marty had previously linked in this thread.

The way I see it, MonMarty has responded to the suggestions made on this thread, and has addressed why the lore will not be changed. Any further discussion/arguments/complaining on or about the matter is unproductive and unnecessary.

Locking this thread.
