Could Massive Pvp Ever Be What It Was?

No, the argument was not flawed. Here's a better argument: You want more PvPers in a game with a dying PvP population, so let the non-PvPers throw input in so that the population will boost, yeah?
I'm fine with people inputting what could increase the PvP population, except not when it's at the expense of the current pvp community. Not sure that you realize if the server changed to the way you're suggesting, every pvper, and no that's not an overstatement, every pvper would quit, not nescessarily the server, but quit pvping. And yes the
argument was completely flawed, it's not ignorant to not know something, but it is ignorant to act like you know something when in reality you know jack shit about it

Except we've almost gotten somewhere if we can find the grace point in between jitter clicking and attack speed and armor buffs. It'd be dumb to close it now.
Idk, it's not helping anything here but I just feel the need to point out that most pvpers don't jitter click, I know maybe two who do

Also, yeah they aren't the same genre, minecraft is a building game
it's really not just a building game, maybe that's what it was originally but it's definitely evolved into more then just a building game
Examples: Mini games, PvP, roleplaying I really can't think of more rn for some reason but there's tons more

Alright, fine, then we should be finding the goldilocks zone in between whatever you guys do actually do, which is strafing and clicking really fast from what I can gather, and actual combat. That's the issue with PvP in Minecraft, there is no complexity or carefulness involved. It is not fast paced, it is based entirely on having god gear and clicking fast enough and dropping pots quick enough.

But at it's core, that's what it is. Without a shadow of a doubt, it has evolved into some semblance of player versus player, a poor survival game, and an easy way to RP. But beyond that, it is just a building game.

Can I ask for clarification on this point: when you say "at the expense of" do you mean that you won't do something that will destroy the current community or that you won't do anything that will hurt the current community in any way? I'm currently assuming the former.

Honestly idk where you got this idea from but it can be really fast paced

To be fair you're partially right, there definitely isn't as much strategy in it as lets say dark souls or games like that, but there still is strategy, there is positioning to stop the enemy from getting away, there's potion conservation, you have to be really careful with how many potions you use on healing so you don't run out before your enemy, there's ender pearl cooldown, if you're running away from someone you have to time your pearls right so they don't catch you, and there is a hella lot of teamwork involved, imma link a video (not trying to shout anyone out) of a pvp fight on an hcf server, the fight is 22v30, you just gotta think about how much teamwork and coordination that takes to instruct 30 people in a teamspeak what to do in a fight.

Now obviously massive pvp isn't on this scale, but it still takes a great deal of teamwork, communication and carefulness to PvP and honestly I don't think you can say shitt about pvp not requiring skill or having any complexity until you've actually tried it yourself

I'm going to bed now pce :P

Yeah I'm saying that what he's suggesting would destroy the current pvp community

Well yes. I've never been a fan of 1.9 either, and I'm glad that the server was able to update without turning PvP into... whatever 1.9 wanted to make PvP into. But I'm talking, if a change could bring new PvPers to the server or get potential PvPers who are here into PvP, but would be bothersome for the existing community, would you oppose it?

EDIT: Also, that vid looks fun. xD

It really depends what the change was, if it kept the current PvP community and still brought new players, of course I'd be ok with it, but I feel like that would be a very hard thing to do

Also sorry if i'm not making much sense I'm like half asleep rn

Don't worry, I'm sleepposting myself. I'm not sure it's possible to keep everyone who's here while also making it possible (and desirable) for new PvPers to join in. Step one would probably be advertising the server as a Factions Combat & Roleplay server, and seeing if PvPers enjoy the current mechanics enough to hang around.

Yeah I totally agree with that, we honestly just need to advertise the server more, there's a huge PvP community out there, the only problem is massive isn't as well known. I'm working on a post about an advertising thingey staff could do, I'll probably have it up sometime this weekend

Edit: I do think removing mcmmo would be a good idea tho, or atleast the combat skills, because then the new pvpers from the advertising wouldn't have to grind before they can even pvp, the thing they came to the server for

I've heard good stuff about removing the PvP parts of mcmmo, though I think there is merit to just making the grinding process quicker so new people can get into the actual PvP part of it all faster without losing some stuff like bleed & skullsplit.

Night.

Then tell me why I should even consider the system that is 1.7's a system at all? Explain to me why you like it? And realize I was only making a COMPARISON, Minecraft with 1.9 has the potential to become more than a random shitfest which it looks like to all looking in.
Buddy, arguing with @jes_ is the last thing you want to do, you'll lose everytime. :]
