Being a noble in Regalia isn't only fun and drinks and running around calling commoners plebs. Nobles often organise parties to entertain each other and their enemies. Today one such party was held at the recently constructed Ballroom in the noble district, largely funded by the Anahera family.

Guards lined the outside entrance to ensure no false nobles would enter, and the party soon went underway. The party was not for dancing and music however, as soon politics became the topic of the talks.

Celine Anahera, a political ally of Alex Kade started by attempting to woo Alex Kade to support a motion led by Grailen Medavinci to function as dowry for her granddaughter, engaged to Grailen. Alex Kade agreed to support the motion for the establishment of the Iron Crucible, the follow-up of the Crimsons with expanded power. In exchange, Alex Kade managed to get Grailen to concede on allowing Orcs to be ranked as second class citizens as long as they performed service to the state in the various military orders of the city, such as the guards, instead of third class citizens.

Various other backroom talks were done between the nobles, plotting against one another, planning backstabbings and assasination attempts on people in the very same room, albeit outside hearing distance.

Suddenly, as the party was slowly coming to a close, Poside, member of the Anahera dynasty suddenly started suffocating in a reaction to poisoned wine. As the guests at the party started shouting and causing chaos, Alex Kade yelled for his fiancee, Faewyn L'thandruil to quickly mend Posidem as she is a healer. As Alex, Malikar and Faewyn tended to Posidem to ensure his survival, the other guests started accusing each other of the attempts to poison the other guests.

Grailen Medavinci accused the Beauverets of the assasination attempt of an Anahera due to the recent insults the Anahera's had made to the Beauveret's during their tea party. The Beauverets in turn claimed innocense, claiming in turn the Medavinci's were responsible as Grailen was seen slapping a bottle of wine out of Alex's hands earlier when he tried to drink it. Similarly, other guests noted how Celine Anahera conveniently slipped away from the party. Other noted families who were completely absent were the Fongs, Lefort's, La Rue's and Lovegoods, as well as the Van Sherburne's.

Seeing as the wine which was used to poison Posidem Anahera was a Beauveret wine, the guards led by Joshua Kade proceeded by protocol and arrested the Beauveret family and their servants. Alex Kade ushered the Beauveret's to cooperate as he and Adrian Pavleon retreated to the Academy's chemistry rooms to analyze the wine. It was found that the wine bottle itself was not a usual noble bottle served at parties, but instead a common brand of Beauveret wine available in common markets. The wine bottle was also several weeks old. Adrian Pavleon, professor of Biology ascertained that the poison used was the spores of undercity mushrooms, very toxic sprores that eat away the stomach when ingested. He stated that the spores would have dissolved in the alcohol if they were added durig the bottling stage, thus deducing that the bottles were tampered with after their corking.

Alex Kade presented the findings at the prison and asked for the immediate release of the Beauveret's due to lack of evidence declaring an actual culprit. Additionally, the Tigran serving the drinks made a testimony claiming the Medavinci's gave him the bottles to serve, though his testimony was deemed not credible due to the fact that he was a Tigran and not a citizen of the state.

With all these potential theories, who do you think is the culprit?

I say the Leforts did it...

Wait nevermind! Hah, some complex plot twists going on here, Nice.

I believe it may be an inside job plotted by a guard. If not I'd go with the obvious ones, Celine, Joshua, Marie and The tigran. Well, Celine obviously has something against the Beauverets, Marie most likely wouldn't stand for embarrassment because well, she is a noble and nobles usually don't like that type of stuff, Joshua might have done it so he could frame an innocent and make himself look good toward the community, the tigran just because it's a shady character and obviously had some input or he might have been bribed be one of the families. Gralien obviously wouldn't do it, who would risk their political career for that. Although, I do suspect him just because he would have a better chance... Lastly, I suspect Reaver VanSherburne, he is a shady character and may have put his personaly issue into a violent crime in attempt to give himself a more meaningful position in life.

I say the wine did it. He's sick of you drinking all his friends and vomiting them into the garden when you get drunk!

despite the trigrams lack of credibility I would go down the line of following that thread, my best guess would be whoever paid Medavinci's to give the Tigray the bottle

Instead of using biologists I would use \he tool. But seriously I think the infernal resistance is behind this. I think they organised that public awakening so that women would be possessed, knowing that the crimsons would ban magic. This would cuase an uproar of the people and cuase more people to hate the crimsons. It would make sense the residencies behind this by causing this much chaos for the city would make people think rebellion is the only way.

I think the Naga Remnant did it to strike a blow at the noble families. It's ludicrous......BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

It was the orc! When I tried to go to the party the orc was missing to open the doors, it must've been planting the bottle or something... but then again, orcs probably can't plan that much on their own... maybe the Orc was working for someone? - Mr. Paloin

Valentino's private opinion on the matter is that it was a multilateral agreement to disgrace the Beauverets, so none of these unilateral faults could be the cause

Nothin' be workin' better than usin' an axe. You not be gettin' the satisfying snap of bones and the spray of blood with the poison. It not be fun to be usin' poison.

You know, for some reason I'd say it wasn't the Tigran.... Im pretty sure he's a pretty honest guy and was just doing as he was told...

I still think it was the orc... they're trying to confuse the humans so they can raid and pillage in Regalia! Hide your wifes, hide your children. Hide! - Mecharic

Perhaps it was some force we don't yet know about? - Mr. Paloin

I was very very sad to not able able to attend. I had my own house guests and could not leave them and still be a good host. I thought it better to not attend, than to attend such a swanky occasion and bring along my Rabid_Clown henchman.

I hope the trouble wasn't caused by the bottle of MAD CLOWN BOOZE I had had delivered as a gift with my sympathies for not being able to attend. Was it a purple bottle with the famous "clown & crossbones" logo? It wasn't meant to hurt anyone! How am I to know some nobles can't handle their drink?

Oh wait, you said suffocating..? MCB is more of a stinging and then a hacking cough with severe nosebleed.

Nevermind..

Viktor Gabriel Albatross II, hearing about the event, writes down various statements in his notebook, hoping to decipher some overlooked statement or observation.
  • The alcohol was clearly unmarked, as it would have been noticable, and therefore must have been with the killer when the party started, as to stop anyone else taking it by mistake.
  • The only people with access to the kitchens were guards and the servant.
  • The orcs are "smashy", as Rohggy described somewhere above, so wouldn't have used poison.
  • Tigrans are not known to be rich enough to buy poisonous mushrooms nor venture into the undercity.
  • The Medavincis not only had enough money to buy mushrooms, but they were there, and probably did not want to uphold their side of the deal by making the orcs second-class.
  • As the orcs were guards and had racial grudges against quite a few nobles, it is possible the Medavincis wanted to frame them.
  • However, Alex Kade- one of the most influential people in the whole land- knew of Posidem Anahera being a mage, and magic was outlawed. It is possible the waiter was told to lie as Alex did not approve of the Iron Crucible.
  • The waiter, in this case, is the only possible person to know, and so must be arrested for further interrogation- and held responsible if he cannot provide a definite alibi or new evidence.
"Hm. Maybe I need a little talk with the guards..."
(EDIT: Valmyr, why pink cloud? That was an RP thread and RP response...)

Well if you had read sir I- I mean the Tigran.. Already said where he got the wine and if his original "testimony" was looked over for his race why would they believe anything else he told them about it, if he knew anything?
Also I bet the Tigran would be quite offended you called him poor :I I bet he's better off than you..

Viktor looks to the man talking to him, his expression blank. "This tigran is the only lead, no matter if he's just a cat-man-thing."
