Backstory/Plothooks

Yegras Zaq'qum Tsyrd, born into the revered lineage of a high-ranking Allar general, was raised with discipline, strategy, and duty in mind. His youth was filled with strict training and political courses that prepared him for a career in leadership or military duty. Yet Yegras was always inclined to the pursuit of knowledge over the battlefield. His thoughts drifted beyond the limits of duty, yearning for something deeper—something he couldn't yet describe.

That yearning led him to an ill-fated discovery. One day, he unearthed an ancient artifact, its surface etched with glowing runes pulsing with an eerie light. Before he could make sense of its origins, the artifact shattered in his grasp, unleashing a wave of raw energy that seared itself into his very being. His body convulsed, his vision blurred, and in its place, he felt something new awaken inside him—magic, a power intricately woven with the essence of life itself.

The Allar had varying perspectives about magic. Some regarded it as a weapon of knowledge, while others dreaded its unpredictability. His father, a diehard traditionalist, belonged to the latter party. When Yegras' unusual skills became apparent—his touch healing wounds, his presence energizing the weak—whispers of concern crept across his household. The once-familiar halls of his house were cold and distant. Though he was not explicitly expelled, the quiet judgment and watchful gazes screamed louder than words. Knowing he would never be completely accepted, he decided to leave.

Yegras journeyed for a year, looking for solutions to the curse that had become a part of him. His journey took him to Slizzar, a city of enigmatic and clever shapeshifters. There, he was taken in by a well-known Slizzar alchemist who was both feared and revered. Under the tuition of this mentor, Yegras learnt to use his magic as an extension of his will rather as a wild force. He also studied alchemy, figuring out how to combine science and sorcery to create something new.

For the first time since he left, he felt a sense of community. But everything fades. His mentor, the one who had mentored him, died, leaving Yegras once again free.

With no reason to stay, he set out once more, following the path of an adventurer. He tells all he meets that he wants to uncover the truth about his curse and the relic that changed his fate. But, deep inside, Yegras understands that knowledge will not relieve his soul's agony. He desires a home, a place where he is not an outcast or a curiosity, but simply Yegras.
