Growing up in Huo-Cheng was rough, he was tossed around the land and considered lowered for being not "fully" Sihai. While travelling he met a man called Kagehoshi who was the only person who treated him as an equal and since then he has trained under the man. Yukio is intensely loyal to Kagehoshi as he was the only being who saw potential in him to become one of his own, maybe a leader.
Yukio never knew stability before Kagehoshi, as a child he was passed from home to home due to being a dragonkin and not something fully Sihai. He was banished from his family at a young age due to his failure of living up to expectations, after being banished he started the routine of breaking his horns and sanding them down as well as hiding his scales. The young dragonkin tries to create the illusion that he's a normal Sihai, either failing or succeeding depends on the perception of others.
