Rain. It was always rain that brought change. Or some form of water falling from the sky.
It had rained when she and Catalina had met. A downpour as she had stepped into the tailor shop and looked into the emerald eyes she grew to love. Fine, beautiful, emerald eyes.
And it had rained, gently, when she laid Hecate to rest. Alone in the muddy graveyard, watching as the rain rolled down the newly placed tombstone, she did not cry. She simply stared, holding her umbrella aloft.
Snow had dusted the ground when she had seen Hecate again. Freshly risen from the grave, but deathly beautiful in a dress, she was changed and the other knew it. Chocolate eyes turned icy blue.
It had rained when Catalina had returned to her. Poured down upon her as she, herself, had emerged from the rough surf. And there her wife stood, changed and not for the better. It took time for them to grow back together, but they eventually returned to normal.
And now, finally, it rained as the newest Eroth was brought into the world.
Born with eyes much like Catalina's emerald ones and hair that was light brown, Alejandra Eroth slept peacefully in the crib that Seraphina had, with some injury, pieced together. She was tucked carefully in a quilt made by a very close friend of the couple. The quilt itself was a beautiful piece of work; blue and white in color with lilies and other depictions of flowers upon the hem. The newborn nelfin girl was safe and warm in the quilt that had been made, just for her.
Seraphina sat, leaning gently upon the railing of the crib, gazing down at the sleeping form of her daughter, a tired smile upon her features.
"Alejandra… Mi precious hija." The Avanthar murmured as she glanced over to the other sleeping person in the room, her wife Catalina. Her smile widened as she leaned back in her chair, turning her eyes, for the third time that evening, towards the closed window.
She listened as the rain tapped against the glass, her mind beginning to wander to the future and what it may hold for herself, her wife, their newborn daughter and the rest of the Eroth family, which contained more members than one may guess.
There was one thing Seraphina knew for sure though, no matter what the future was going to throw at her and hers, she knew she would make the best of what was to come.
