I'm new to the server and addicted. But there's two things I have an issue with. There's not really any stealing. It's more just looting old abandoned factions. I like the raiding and would love to see it on a grander scale (Sieges perhaps?). A lot of the raids I see are two god armored premiums camping out in towns. Secondly, maybe you could pick locks somehow. My one fear with this is that its too overpowered, and people can just take everything. So lock-picking would have to be HARD. Any ideas how this could work? Or would it be to hard to code? Thoughts please!

I don't know anything about the coding aspect but I can tell you that I am against lockpicking being installed. Even if it was extremely hard that means that it would take time. Some people have lots of time they would love to waist stealing.

This was hard for me to say as I personally would love lockpicking into homes, but I also realize that I would hate having this done to me.

I've always thought lock picking would be awesome for this server, although im really not sure how it would work, I think it would have to be EXTREMELY hard to do or else it would become over powered.

Maybe you need an item thats relatively hard to get (I.E. blaze rods) and a break in attempt has a %50 chance to destroy the item.

Blaze rods can be made with 4 sticks and two lava buckets. Moderately hard to get.

To add a lockpicking plugin would most likely require a new interface to be coded into the game, which would be extremely time consuming, as well as making this new interface not conflict with other plugins already on the server.

As for the idea itself, I'm personally against it. I believe it would be abused by those who usually spend their time endlessly training or just have nothing else to do. Also, the activity of it, most likely resulting in a mini-game like interface, may become addicting and people will start to lockpick not for roleplay or raid, but just because they like it.

Adding a new interface to the game would likely mean mods, not plugins, making it impossible to do. Nether stars are impossible to get. It may be possible, but very OP and not a good addition.

As for sieges in the game, everybody wants that.

Sieges are especially interesting and I would love to see more strategy brought into the disputes between warring factions. It'd be very fun to swarm over the castle walls with a horde of buddies... But on second thought thievery seems far too overpowered.

Lockpicking is a bad idea. People would be all over the place picking locks. I myself would be stealing a ton of stuff.

Maybe pickpocketing? Pull something out of someones hands from behind while shifted? It'd have to be limited so you cant yank someones sword away mid battle.

Pick pocketing has already been mentioned as an awesome feature in another feature suggestion thread, whether or not it will be implemented is far in the future.

I think a better idea would be this.
Allow it so that if a faction can lower another power down, more and more chucks are removed, as it takes power to claim more land.
That land that becomes un-claimed may have chests, in which you can steal from.

Hmm, Iron doors aren't possible to lock yet, wood doors are. Ender chests can't be lock picked. Stuff like that. Certain objects can be picked, some can.

a whole new interface isn't really nessacary. When you try to lockpick a door, the chat gives you some brain teasers (if you know what I mean).
This would require a lot of time of course and it would also avoid kiddies from running into each house and stealing everything.
Maybe you'll also need a specific item to lockpick a door or chest, like a stick, or a blaze rod or something else

and sorry for bad english (if it was that bad :D)

That is actually a good non over powered way to use lockpicking.

It wasn't in my opinion.

if they did that, soon people would memorize all the answers and soon they would take a couple of seconds to lockpick places, it sounds nice on paper, but in action it is different. sorry if i sound harsh, the internet does that to me.

I say, to pick a lock, you need to have 64 dia blocks, 64 gold blocks, 64 ender eyes, 64 nether stars, and 64 sheep spawn eggs.

Seems legit.
