"I, ____ believe that the Regalian State & Population, including the noble peerage and beyond*, should seek treating the Kathar population equitably and fairly."

*discounting the magnanimous and wise Crown & Imperial Court.

These were the words printed onto each copy of Tanokh Xeriirn's Kathar representation petition, created and advertised with assistance from Ishika, Hexarra & Pexionn. This statement of intent, over the course of a full week, collected eighty-eight individual signatures, from Counts, Knights, and commoners alike. Though such efforts have previously been quite quiet, it is the intent of the author that this petition, and subsequent acts, will be loud enough to awaken hope in the hearts of the Kathar population.

Alas, not all people were so kind. Seeking signatures for this petition has been something resolutely inspiring, but also something soul-draining and frustrating. There were quite a few refusals, and some signatures with off-putting caveats. The outstanding examples of these have been listed below, to serve as a few steps in the shoes of a Regalian Kathar.

In terms of direct refusals:
Adagio von Rolanthe, citing that he "cannot give his name" and implying that the Lothar Order would not allow him to. This seems strange, as Kathar are not inherently Occult, and nowhere does this petition imply Occult acceptance. One would even assume the Count is using his Order as to avoid admitting that this ideal is one he personally holds.

House von Rolanthe as a whole, as it seems the good Count wishes his entire House to maintain these ideals. Vittoria von Rolanthe openly stated her belief that due to the Dread War, it is unreasonable to expect Kathar to be treated fairly. She did not acknowledge counterpoints.

Dame Raina Hatheway did not sign, despite other Viridians doing so, citing that she "does not want to get involved in politics" as a "personal view of hers". In her mind, it would seem, the idea of wishing to live safely is political, and the current mistreatment of Kathar is a status quo that should not be challenged. I must hazard that in matters of bigotry, where the ability to live at all is politicized, inaction itself is a political choice.

Sun Heishan refused. Initially she did not even want to even hear the petition's wording, and cited that due to "winning a duel with Sahuvi about a distaste for Kathar mage culture", she did not have to sign.

While I, Tanokh Xeriirn, was finding names for this petition outside of the Avinicci Co. Bar, I was fined fifty regals for "loitering" by Lord Bruce Norinn. (I did pay this fine with the Metropolitan later, even though Lord Bruce attempted to physically take the fine himself.) Lord Bruce Norinn implied that feeling any level of distrust for a knight is an indication of anti-state thought, as he was midway through refusing a report on a Bloodcast by a concerned Slizzar citizen. He also refused to sign the petition, or hear what it is about. This was a bit of a shock for me, the author, as I had priorly been given significant and important assistance from House Norinn.

Baron Bavere
initially was skeptical of the petition, and requested to know whether or not the Kathar had "done anything to deserve" better treatment. Despite his Baron position, he was surprised to learn that Kathar are allowed to be citizens at all nowadays, despite this being a legal change that is quite a few years old now. He could not clarify a reason as to why not to sign, but insisted he consult his companions & council before doing anything at all.

Some did sign, but had caveats to such signatures:

Ser Henrik Osmont did sign, however, in the event where he signed, he was witnessed by multiple nobles, and seemed uncomfortable with the entire idea. Afterward, he announced, "There is no difference between Heritages in the eyes of the Law." as to insist that issues in Kathar representation are not real. He doubled down on this as Hexarra, Tanokh Xeriirn and Pexionn were ushered out of the estate.

In a less innocent example, Lady Linn and Lord Nikla of the House von Holst initially both refused to sign. They believed at that moment that a Kathar should earn "their own red seat" and debate their way into a better life. They did not initially recognize that such a thing is nearly impossible for most Ailor peasantry to pursue, much less an economically disenfranchised Kathar. They would eventually both turn around on this, but it took a fair bit of teeth pulling argumentation.

It is the hope of the author that this petition is a foundation. May the recognition of mistreatments, both small and large, allow the non-Kathar viewer to better understand what a Kathar experiences daily. And may the eighty-four signatures and following protest and politicking send a different message. To all Regalian Kathar, Sollerian, Minerian, or otherwise, whether you are a refugee or an immigrant or the known descendents of such: You belong here.

We will keep going, keep fighting, until this generation of Kathar and every generation after have a place in the world where they might know safety and peace.

Death to Renaxiirn.

Glory to the Empire.

Tanokh the Liar,

1. You started asking others about the petition after insinuating verbal confrontation, and being cited.
2.No one physically attempted to take the fine from you.
3. You are lying about statements said.
4. The situation on the Bloodcast is incorrect.
5. You did not ask me about the petition.

I accuse you of lies and slander.

Bruce Norinn,
