Artistic depiction of one of the various fortifications of the Drixagh following the Burning of the North, 305 AC.
Long has the north served the Empire, through invasion and war, through reconstruction and peace. Our lands are cold, the winters long, the work is hard, the profit is little, the wildlife is dangerous, and we are happy. We are happy because we have a land we call home, regardless of how dangerous it is and regardless of how poor it is. The Empire took us in, and as all guests should do, we protect those who protect us. Velheim soldiers of the north have served in every major war Regalia has been in since our Kingdoms swore their vows.
Now the Lords of Calemberg call for our extinction and bring soldiers to take our home from us. They think of us as a threat because of the actions of our ancestors, but it was not our ancestors punished at the Burning of the North. It will not be our ancestors punished if the Calemberg Lords march on us now, and for this reason, we cannot stand by and let it happen. If we are outnumbered, so be it. If we are surrounded, so be it. We will fight to the last, for we have nothing left.
The North will remain on the defense. We have no desire to harm our neighbors. We respect their victory against our ancestors, as have proven themselves great warriors; we will not deny this. We will not yield to them, either, if their wish is our demise.
Upon our word, we stand together in defense of the northern lands and its people.
