Long has the north served the Empire, through invasion and war, through reconstruction and peace. Our lands are cold, the winters long, the work is hard, the profit is little, the wildlife is dangerous, and we are happy. We are happy because we have a land we call home, regardless of how dangerous it is and regardless of how poor it is. The Empire took us in, and as all guests should do, we protect those who protect us. Velheim soldiers of the north have served in every major war Regalia has been in since our Kingdoms swore their vows.

Now the Lords of Calemberg call for our extinction and bring soldiers to take our home from us. They think of us as a threat because of the actions of our ancestors, but it was not our ancestors punished at the Burning of the North. It will not be our ancestors punished if the Calemberg Lords march on us now, and for this reason, we cannot stand by and let it happen. If we are outnumbered, so be it. If we are surrounded, so be it. We will fight to the last, for we have nothing left.

T
he North will remain on the defense. We have no desire to harm our neighbors. We respect their victory against our ancestors, as have proven themselves great warriors; we will not deny this. We will not yield to them, either, if their wish is our demise.

Upon our word, we stand together in defense of the northern lands and its people.

The Howlester Revain read over the declaration, noting the four names before speaking

"Interesting woman, that Sorenvik. I never took her for the over-dramatic type"

Following that, the Howlester replied to the declaration with a question of his own, marked with the familiar Howlester Silverwolf seal and made public throughout the Empire.

Houses Sorenvik, Viduggla, Sterke-enn and Krupp,
Your declaration puts specific emphasis on your four Houses seemingly sole objective in protecting the Northern Realm. Will this mean that you four will be protecting each other from invasion from warring noble houses who have no desire to control the North but wish seek to prove dominance over an enemy of their house? If so I question if this truly is a declaration of defense of a tired and overly beaten down North or merely an attempt to hide a coalition of self serving Houses whom aim to protect their own holdings whilst using the turmoil of the North as some attempt to seem justified for their cowardice and paranoia. House Howlester would like a clearer explanation of this pact with specific attention being paid to whether or not the Houses on this list will be defending each other in noble conflict, as from where we sit, this appears to be nothing more than a defensive alliance of Houses paranoid about losing their lands from enemies rather than from any threat from Calemberg, especially given the honorable Archduke of the region has yet to make any move on the North aside from wishing to erect a defensive wall and create a defensive line of men to protect against an attack /from/ Northern lands following Drixagh's secession.
Awaiting your responses eagerly,

Rodderick Aethelwulf Howlester

He'd nudge Kalmar and Jorg'un( @WrongChat @Empaul ) on over to the declaration notice. He'd then point to the Howlester response and say, "The World of Ice and Wolves bash heads against each other. I thought they all had a common enemy already in the Kathar and didn't have enough time to worry about stabbing at each other?"

To the Revain Howlester,

The defensive pact is in response to the Calemberg troops situated upon our border, of which their Lord Typhonus had called out that he was ready for his men to push the settled people of Drixagh back into the sea. Our banners will rally to defend it from a threat that seeks only to destroy it, and the only paranoia we see is the paranoia of Calemberg, who wrongly believe we plan to snatch their lands from them. The Houses of the North have been and will continue honoring the ceasefire between both sides, to maintain what peace there is left. If they were to allow us to rebuild and go about our lives with no hostile interference, the Pact would see no reason in rallying soldiers at the border. The Northern Defensive Pact stands to protect the North and its peoples from anything that would wish to bring further harm to it. If a Noble House wishes to show its dominance over a member of the pact, then they may try. However, the North will not bow to any invader and should the call be made, the Pact will answer.

We will defend our home, until there is no home left.

Garth of House Viduggla,
Baron of Drixagh

Houses of the Northern Defensive Pact and Aristocrats of the Realm,

My reply will open with praise for Baron Viduggla's response and attempt to deflect the original main question, which should be noted is still more of a response than was received from House Sorenvik, Sterke-enn or House Krupp, the latter of which is surprisingly also part of this Northern Border Defense despite firstly, not holding lands in the North and existing South of Typhonus's defensive line, but secondly being directly related to a traitor who used and abused the North, killed Northern men and attempted to destroy the Northern culture for his own gain and in favor of his own machination. I also would like to remind the Houses of the Realm that the Archduke Typhonus and House von Treppewitz made it very clear in their statement concerning the 'purging of the heretics of Drixagh' that they awaited command from the Regalian State and therefore, from the Regalian Government, with the implication that they stand in defense and will not attack unless such command is issued. Despite the crude statement and unnecessary threats toward the North, I would like to do my duty as a Lawman of the Realm by informing House Krupp, Sterke-enn, Viduggla and Sorenvik that if they truly stand in the way of a command from the Regalian State for Typhonus's army to march into Drixagh, they will be obstructing a decree from the State and therefore be committing treason against the State. That said, I believe the North has suffered enough from the foolishness of its previous rulers and will not see another conflict even with recent events. Despite differences, House Howlester wishes House Zastorzy well in stabilizing the region after far too much turmoil upon its soil and hope that the Houses listed in this pact do not either intentionally or negligently by the creation of this pact draw unneeded conflict towards the North. That will be my final word on the matter.

With hopes that pride will subside in favor of sense,
Rodderick Howlester
