I. Introduction
The Hiltfonist Economic Lobby was formed by the banking family named the Malafronte, noting the prominent lack of representation and disinterest in the Regalian economy in the Empire's sphere of politics. The Empire's wealth is just as important as its military, yet the monetary interests of the Realm remain in the shadows, brought up only when dealing with the transfer of one person's regals to another, be it a simple purchase of food from a street vendor or a Patrician family lending money to the Nobility. The purpose of the Hiltfonist Lobby is not and will not to prioritize the economy over the military, over the Synod, nor any other facet of the Empire. It exists solely to bring the topic of our economy to the table, and to ensure it remains there, not merely in the back of our minds where it tends to linger.
II. Agenda
The following points are core tenets of members of the Lobby, and are displayed for all to see. The Hiltfonist Lobby hides no secrets from the public and the aristocracy, and wishes for transparency to be evident in its dealings.
- The introduction of a law, the Regalian Commoner & Patrician Tax, which will allow further funds to be garnered by the Empire for military spending or otherwise.
- The establishment of a tax collection charter, which will enforce the proposed laws and also attempt to curb financial fraud and corruption within the ranks of Nobles, Patricians, and Commoners alike.
- The lessening of the extremely heavy handed regulations placed on the banking sector by the Open Ocean Merchants Lobby. The sole reason the banks were dealt such a blow was down to their methods of enforcing debtors to pay their dues, which caused a stir among the common citizenry and noble alike. They were left with no other option however when heavy taxes were laid upon the banks by the aforementioned Lobby, which left the banks with two options. Suffer financial ruin, or make the common debtor pay more than is due.
- The government should nationalize various charity and philanthropic efforts, and to ensure donations are not spend fraudulently for purposes other than social spending. The other need for this is to make certain that there are not vagrants leeching off of money intended for people who need it, and to see to it that people receiving money in charity have stable jobs so that they may walk on their own two feet at some point. This means creating an Alms Ministry.
- The passage of import taxes on goods sourced from outside the Realm, to make sure we as the superior nation do not unduly rely on others to make goods for us. The Empire should not be held hostage if a lesser state decides to raise prices on an export Regalia relies upon, such as raw minerals, lumber, or some other vital resource. With this import tax, we use the vast resources of our great Empire and worry little if some irrelevant kingdom or petty republic tries to connive us out of our well earned wealth.
III. Roster & Hierarchy
The Lobby makes evident its ranks and list of members for the Regalian people to see. The following positions listed as open may be applied for below, as the Hiltfonist Lobby seeks to expand its ranks.
