A DECLARATION

For nearly two centuries, Calemberg and the North have fought one another. Some confrontations were solved through fighting, others through diplomacy. It has been nearly a year since the Treaty of Calemberg was signed, which was an example of the latter. War was prevented, and all went their separate ways.

Today, the situation has reached the tipping point. Were it not for the foolhardy actions of several houses, diplomacy may have prevailed once more. Though now that option has expired, and we now face the consequences.

Therefore, I have the following statements for select individuals:

• To House Typhonus and House Ravenstad, I answer the call to aid in the honorable defense of Calemberg. Just as you both offered me sanctuary that winter night three years ago, I now return the favor. May our houses continue that old alliance as defenders of the realm against those that aim to destroy us.
• To the Northern Defense Pact, your mobilization on the border and your poor choice of allies has sealed your fate. Less than a week ago I considered diplomatic channels to dissolve this conflict. But your blatant disregard for diplomatic protocol leaves us with no other choice. I suggest you keep to the North, as we will to the wall. Send your troops home, and perhaps status quo can be maintained.
• To House von Rahm, I once thought your Lordship was a man of shared convictions. In conversations past your former patriarch and yourself expressed your hatred of the Velheim, wishing to avenge all the sufferings of your ancestors. And yet, by a woman's hand to add further insult, you have now entered league with the enemy. May the current situation in your county act as a reminder to never betray your aristocratic realm again.
• To House von Brühl, the greatest offender in this entire ordeal, your slight against my house is not so easily excused. I offered you my hospitality, and the hospitality of other Calemberg Lords, to find a peaceful solution to this mess. Instead of fulfilling your promise, you betray our covenant by raising your banner against us. The Lords of Calemberg will remember this treachery, as will your subjects now alienated by their own lord.

Therefore, with all parties addressed, House von Drachenburg hereby joins the Calemberg Union in defense of the Fatherland.

For the Realm we fight, and may the Spirit be with us!
