- IC Introduction -

Amidst the chaos following the Anglian Darkness and the sudden fragmentation of the Empire, an old face slowly began to reemerge in the underbelly of Regalia. Cael Ladveer, the one-time Beggar King, had returned to the city after over half a year. People who knew a guy who knew a guy etc through the Slums and Old Town might hear word of small expeditions into the tunnels under Old Town connected to the Beggar, but to most, their reemergence came suddenly, during the latter hours of the evening (September 7th, 306 AC), when Cael finally resurfaced in a public way.

The man, followed by another in a red surcoat, made his address in the Emporium, dressed simply in a worn purple coat. He looked to be in his forties, and his missing left arm only added to the image as he began.
"I will keep this brief as it is almost parody at this point to make these announcements. After a long absence I am returning to reform The Beggars, properly. Not as some trophy to sport about as The Charmer did, nor a title to misuse like The Feathered. As a tool, to correct what is wrong with this city. With the current crisis, that will be mostly in the scope of charity, and enforcement. For now."

"So," he continued, "If you need food, shelter, cloth or coin, our group seeks to provide for its members, as well as the citizenry as we are able." His voice held a certain air to it- it would be apparent to anyone who was a little perceptive he meant what he said there, and the tone might inspire a bit of confidence in some. "That's all, no need to ramble." He said, turning to leave with his follower.

- OOC Introduction -

The Beggars, formerly the Telikos Beggars, have returned! I struggled for a long time thinking of how to brand this group, I wanted to forge an Elven-Jacobin identity but in the end everything felt wrong. This however feels very right. Consistency is important, and this feels like a fitting place to carry on after my long break.

The idea carries on from where the group left off prior: The Beggars are a technically kind and charitable gang. Their means may be rough and even evil from a certain view, but their general goals are coming from a good place. They will enforce their ideals and the personal code of Cael, while also providing food and clothes and protection.

- Ideals -

* All people of every race, gender, and religion, deserve equal rights and protection.
* Seeking to strip these rights or harm another unjustly is evil.
* Bloodlines are meaningless. Skill, ability, and dedication should dictate status.
* Progress comes inevitably in all things, from engineering feats to societal matters. Resistance to this is trivial.
* Reliance on violence breeds weak minds and skillful enemies, until your enemies' skill trumps your addled minds.

- OOC Goals -

* To generate roleplay with a more moral-compass guided group rather than one pursuing money for money sake as many gangs of the past have.
* To encourage a bit of conflict within the Slums by having said morally-inclined group stir trouble with those who don't follow their code.
* To work as a bit of an outlet for charity into the Slums, possibly at the expense of the citizenry of the City itself.
* Past the crisis- a slow burning goal to eventually accumulate power and the ability to sway things outside Old Town, bringing both crime and a little Jacobinism to the city itself.

- Code -

* Inflict no unnecessary harm on another.
* Infighting should never be tolerated.
* Harming children or those with child is forbidden.
* Those who commit egregious or heinous crime will not be tolerated.
* Theft from the poor is never an option.

- Morals -

The Beggars are a morally-guided group. They believe in equal rights and protection, the right to live in peace and handle your life as you see fit with little to no threat to it. Uninstigated violent escalation of situations, AKA Attacking people for not doing what you want, etc is bad in the Beggar's eyes. However there lays hypocrisies: The Beggars want to enforce their morals and code of Equality however they need to, but do not tolerate or recognize the same justification used by others. Your character should generally follow these morals, or be willing to conform to them to an extent to meld into the group if you want to join.
