It's me, back with another idea. I actually think this one is kinda cool. The basic idea, is that you can create areas, much like how you create a faction, and in that area, things such as:
  • /uspawn
  • /spawn
  • /home
And more are all blocked. Meaning you can make jails and things in your faction, without your prisoners going /uspawn and then you've lost 'em. Well, unless they are in it for the RP they will. I know what you are going to say: 'People will abuse it' & 'What about trapped people.' Here are two things.
1. They won't abuse it because it can have a cost per square of protection. It could be 0.5 silver per 1 block, so it would cost 1 silver (for 2 blocks, because players are 1 block wide and 2 blocks tall) as a minimum to keep someone in a spot for good.
2. People won't get trapped, because it could be against the rules to keep someone in an area if they do not want to, or a /helpop can get you out. It might be that the owners of the region have to pay money A DAY just to keep the protection. A lot of things could happen.
How this is useful / What can be done with it
  • Jails! You can keep someone in one spot, such as enemy faction members.
  • To prevent nonconventional methods of getting out of something. For example, you make a huge palace to be traversed, and they can only get out by completing a parkour course.
  • Vampires can farm humans. They herd them like cows into a pen, and they get fed, and 'milked' for blood. This can make a food source for vamps.
I don't know how else it could be used, but it could make for more immersive gameplay! People might not like it, but I do... tell me what you think!

I don't like it.

If you have it so people cannot helpop their way out then it is abuseable
If you have it so people can then it is pointless as people who want to be there would stay anyway
Also with the helpop system what if no mods are online
And even if there is a cost it will still be abuse able.

Basically what I am saying is the suggestion would not work

When did I say you can't helpop?
I don't know about you, but if I was captured by vamps, and used as a renewable food source, I wouldn't want to be there.
Then you wait.
And why is it still abuse able?

The whole point is to keep someone there. They would get released eventually, otherwise it could be temp bannable.

  • I was elaborating on possible solutions.
  • Exactly, if this feature was added people who want to RP that would stay and pretend they were traped. People who didnt would send in a helpop and leave.
  • For hours? I dont know about you but most of the time I play there are naver any mods on
  • Its still abuse able because you trap someone and they cant get out even after you log off.
  • Just more work for the staff
Think of this situation. Player A is in a faction. They dig a shallow 1 by 1 pit with a pressure plate at the bottom which, when steped on, activates a piston that pushes a block and covers the hole (to stop ender pearling). Then then make the bottom 2 blocks into these zones you have suggested, dig there way out, cover up the passage and log off. Player B is from another faction (possibly allied or in truce). Player B is exploring player A's faction. Player B falls in pit trap. Player B tries to teleport out but it does not work. Player B is stuck. There is no one to let them out as player A's faction has no members online. There is also no mods online. Player B has no way of getting out. Player B has to force stave them self and die to escape, player B loses their items.

I like this idea, but there should be a way to set it up that meant it would be fair. For example, an automated lock so after X days player A can /f home and leave. This way people don't need to risk themselves by unprotecting the area and going into the cell with the prisoners.
Also, there should be a cost per day of imprisonment, e.g. every day = 0.5S. Then players will only confine those who deserve it unless they are trolls or something.
Finally, there should be a validation system of jailing, so if after 1 day you can't find evidence then you must free the person or it's a temporarily-bannable offence.

On a partly-related note, Executions of prisoners would be impossible with this method as the captive is freed from the area instantly and can leave without being killed off. If player A is free in a minute and people from Faction B are offline, player A can leave without any hassle.

Exactly what I was thinking when I wrote this post, but for some reason I forgot to add it. Imagine a large hall, filled with cells. In each cell is a player, preferably human. Twice a day, some food is put in the cell for them to eat, then they are used to harvest blood. Like a blood farm of some sort. I know it sounds horrible and gruesome, but in my mind, it is what vampires should be like.

I like the idea, but i do aggree with overlord it can easily be abused. The only possible solution i can see here is if it would be a timer. and that timer would do so you only are jailed for a certain amount of time. And if you do /jail or something similar (for those who would abuse it) they could have a sort of timer too. That you can only jail for example 4 people at a time. But you can unjail anytime.
