+ Outgoing + Loyal + Courteous + Dignified + Immaculate + Magnanimous +On the surface, Franziska is a carefully-constructed visage of dignity, grace, and charm. She takes borderline obsessive precaution to present herself as someone to be envious of. She carries herself with the utmost care, making sure her posture is straight, and her hair is impeccable. At a brief undiscerning glance, it would seem as though she was without flaw. A perfectionist, she tries her best to maintain this image, sometimes to her own detriment.
= Freewheeling = Confidential = Flirtatious = Perfectionist =
- Dependent - Avaricious - Bossy - Fussy - Impulsive - Impatient -
She's talkative and outgoing, always trying to meet new people and expand her network. Making connections with others is one of the most important parts of life, for both work and leisure. Friends are great, and so are assets! In order to get into people's good graces, she acts courteous, and tends to give others priority over herself, even if she dislikes them. She'd hold the door for her worst enemy, and offer them the last strawberry on top of her cake. On some occasions, it can come across as ostentatious. To those she is fond of, however, she's even more loyal, sometimes to a fault, and maybe a little bit clingy. She's also quite benevolent with her wealth, sharing it with those close to her as a way to stay in their favor, despite having squandered most of it at this point.
Time is much too fleeting, and life is far too short, to waste a single second of it. Franziska likes to seize life by the day, and make the most of every moment. She tries to turn unhappy experiences into positive ones, and always tries to look on the bright side, even if her thoughts tend to wander more towards the negatives. Spontaneous and pushy, Fran is known to make plans on a whim, and drag people along without giving them much time to think it over. Have too much time to yourself? Good, might as well take a trip halfway across Aloria.
Peering behind the curtain, and spending time with her outside of any sort of formal setting, however, paints a completely different picture. When she isn't forced to maintain face, Miss Hertz is somewhat of a free spirit. She does what she wants, when she wants to, without really thinking twice about it. She's reckless, mainly because she's never had to face the consequences of her impulsive behavior. She doesn't care much for rules, or authority, and will absolutely go against both behind closed doors. Franziska always gets what she wants, or else. She's gotten so used to being doted on that she often gives other people commands without thinking twice about it, coming across as rather bossy. She is capable of doing most things herself, but chooses not to. When things don't go her way, she can get somewhat fussy, to the point of crying. Of course, Franziska does her absolute best to hide all of this improper behavior from others, but it always seeps through eventually. She's prone to keeping secrets, withholding pieces of the truth, and telling half-truths to paint a better picture of herself or get her way. On occasion, she has accidentally created extremely elaborate fabrications, only to struggle to keep up with them.
Franziska is quite clever, and knows much more than she lets on. To exist is to save face and put on airs, but Fran has always found this to be ridiculous, and tried to see through them to varying degrees of success. She's far more interested in getting to see people's true intentions. She tries to be analytical, sometimes almost to an unsettling extent (i.e. staring someone down unintentionally). What she can't gather from listening in on gossip she tends to pick up through her own personal observations. Of course, she isn't omnipotent, but she likes to think she's generally a good judge of character. Whether or not that is true, however, is another story.
The only reason Fran is able to be so generous with giving away her luxuries is because of just how materialistic she is. She loves the finer things in life, making it easy to win her over with jewels and expensive perfumes. She had quite the collection, due to being absolutely horrific with finances, and obsessed with fun little trinkets. At one point, she had more than she could really store or keep track of, and although fate has not been so kind to her in recent times, she still tends to give away bits and pieces of her hoard to make room for more blatant consumerism.
Lastly, and most importantly, Miss Hertz is INCREDIBLY impatient. She hates waiting for anything, but lines and traffic are the bane of her existence, and will actively do anything in her power to avoid them. The more time she wastes, the more antsy and anxious she gets, until pushing herself to the point of having a full-on meltdown. Due to this aversion to wasting time, Fran struggles with insomnia. She sees sleep as a waste of time, despite being a necessity, and it keeps her up at night.
Additional traits:
-oversensitive. It's easy to hurt her feelings or upset her, regardless of how she reacts outwardly.
-aware of her own mortality. Like, painfully so. Haunts her.
Franziska is haunted by her own mortality. After the events she's experienced, and the truths she's discovered, she knows her days are numbered. Because of this, she is very short-sighted in her actions, as she doesn't believe she will ever reap the consequences of them.

Hosting Presence Pack
While skills in cooking and mixology are not bound by Proficiencies, knowing how to perfectly anticipate wishes, is. The Hosting Presence Pack allows your Character to anticipate the favorite flavors, colors, foods, drinks, and interests of DM/Event NPCs before they show up. If this would for example require you to change the colored interior of an Event, make a Ticket to Staff to ask. This does not grant additional information, it just makes sure you do not accidentally use tokenized flattery and can put NPCs in a good mood. This can also be used on Players, but only with their consent to provide the information they want to provide. The Pack functions like your Character using their contacts to learn about a person's preferences and interests.
Saving Presence Pack
Either when you or your friend commits some grievous communication error with a DM NPC or some other Event Character controlled by a Staff Member, you can activate the Saving Presence Pack as a rewind to quickly save the situation from escalating, relax, or diffuse the person who the statement was made towards, and give the speaker the time to re-phrase their statement, opinion, or choose to remain quiet. This is particularly useful to save yourself or someone from committing a diplomatic faux-pas or saying something awkward that would result in loss of opportunities, however, this Pack has limited use. If you are using it for yourself, there is a 30-day cooldown per DM, even if that DM is playing different Characters in different plotlines, you cannot re-use this Pack on the same DM in that period. If you are using it to save a friend's error, the cooldown applies both to you and your friend, regardless if they have the Pack or not. -
❀Mechanics:
- Ailor can choose 1 Pack from any Category for free.
- Ailor are masters of languages, which is expected given their habit to culturally divides. Because so many of their languages are inter-connected, various words become more obviously related, and they also take more effort to learn other languages. If someone insults an Ailor, even in a language they do not speak, the Ailor would know, as they know most curse words or words by which to speak ill of others in all languages.
- Ailor are the masters of the Regalian Empire, and while it has equality between all peoples and heritages, Ailor are just by virtue of being Ailor considered preferential for most government positions and judicial situations. Where possible to do with the Nobility, with Government, or with Palace decisions, Ailor will be treated preferentially over other peoples, even if their qualifications might be lesser than the other options.

Backstory & Plothooks

❀Core concept: Runaway heiress of a red-blooded family, a perfectionist socialite seeking a safer life in obscurity alongside her life-long companion.
❀Plot hooks:
Barely recognizable face - To those born and raised in Hinterberg, Franziska might seem somewhat familiar, though it might be difficult to place exactly where from due to her family's obscurity to the general public. The disappearance of the Frey's only daughter may or may not be of relevant discussion amongst those in higher Hinterberg society.
Out-Of-Touch - Despite both Franziska and Magnolia pouring over as much literature as they could in preparation for their escape, there are some things you simply cannot pick up from the pages of a book. Uprooted from her cozy and cushioned home in Hinterberg, Franziska is still struggling to assimilate to a lifestyle outside of the spoilt luxury she'd become accustomed to. To compound on the situation, she's currently residing in Crookback, and she's likely to get herself caught up in some sort of trouble faster than she can possibly adapt or learn street smarts.
Exceptionally well-dressed - Though she's tried to dress herself down recently, Franziska takes impeccable care of herself at all times – almost to the extent of being exceptionally out-of-place as well. Obsessive as she is, she'll often pause her work to preen her hair and adjust the fit of her cloaks. The extent of her vanity could make her a target for questioning.
To Keep the Lights On - While Franziska prefers light work, she'll take just about any job she can get as long as it's somewhat dignified in order to keep a roof over her head. Know someone who's moving house? Need someone to take care of your collection of exotic animals? Would life be better if you had someone follow you around and write down your every waking thought? Franziska is more than happy to help, for a commensurate amount of regals.
Fly on the Wall - To her detriment, Franziska cannot shed her love for gossip. She isn't particularly subtle about it, unfortunately, which makes it easy for people to catch onto her pretending to look busy while 'overhearing' their conversation. -
.......If prompted, Franziska would tell you she was born in Erzberge, the youngest of four, to two labourers. Her childhood was relatively average, spending most of it helping tend to their farm and exploring her home town. Her recent move to regalia was spurred on by the death of her father, who had initially travelled to the city when she was seventeen years old in hopes to build a life for the rest of their family, allowing them to move in once he'd earned enough to purchase a sizeable home. After he passed due to illness, the Hertz family's future was uncertain until Franziska offered to pick up where he had left off. Packing only what she could carry in two suitcases, Franziska found homestead with an old acquaintance who happened to be seeking a roommate at the time. Currently, she passes her time by taking as many odd-jobs as possible to save up enough money to allow the rest of her family to comfortably settle into regalia alongside her.
Her words would feel practiced and succinct, however, many of the little details wouldn't seem quite right.
-Beatrice Viktoria Frey, born to Oskar & Antoinette Frey. Only child.
-Descendant of Alwin Frey, who grew to wealth and prominence through his printing press business, which he shared with Otfried Leitner.
-Otfried tricked Alwin, and forced him out of the business. Incredibly financially irresponsible, Alwin blew through the pitiful lump sum he was given for the company + his savings quickly, leaving the Freys destitute.
-Freys are notoriously bad with money & extremely prideful. Referred to as "the cockroach social climbersof high society", looked down upon by many families. Despite this, Oskar manages to find success with the help of Antoinette, and their business takes off when Beatrice is three years old.
-Oskar and Antoinette refuse to outsource a lot of their work, and are constantly busy. Beatrice is primarily raised by her grandmother until she becomes feeble & can no longer take care of her. After that point, her tutors & housekeepers do their best to raise her.
-Beatrice is beloved, but absolutely spoiled rotten. She has quite a temper, and its easier to let her get her way than it is to reprimand her. She is incredibly impolite, and does not know proper court etiquette. While the Freys are invited to events mostly as a formality, their surrounding peers dread their arrival. The two overtired & ridiculously proud Freys + their brat kid.
-Her absolutely abysmal attitude piques the interest of Miriam Leitner, who quickly takes Beatrice under their wing & the two become thick as thieves before either family can stop them. They are too young to really care abt their family's grudges, etc. The Freys do not protest too much, as Beatrice finally has someone to teach her how to behave properly/act like a young lady/acclimatize her.
-The two grow inseparably close. As she ages, Beatrice feels like she's finding her footing in the world, despite still drawing the ire of some established red-bloods who weren't too fond of their sudden rise to prominence. The daughter of one of these families, Antonia Matthias, gave Beatrice a hard time in particular for reasons that were indiscernible to Beatrice at the time, though she did her best to pay no mind to it.
-Their business grows so large that Oskar and Antoinette cannot possibly maintain it on their own. They have Antoinette's brother, Lukas Faust, take up a portion of the business. This is a horrible mistake, and he drags their name through the mud. He is quickly removed from his position and stricken from family records, but the damage had already been done. While other family members are allowed to partake in the business management, they are now watched extremely closely.
-Word gets around quickly in high society however, and many red-blood families are tied to the freys now through business dealings. They have had enough of the freys being a nuisance for literal generations and just screwing around. They need to be stopped. The Matthiases, backed by multiple other families, orchestrate a hit on essentially every frey under the age of 65. Older freys are like. Exempt. Who cares. Theyre gonna die soon lets not waste our money its not like theyll make more of them.
-Gradually, Freys begin to perish or disappear, however the family is so large & it is done in such a way as to not raise questions. Its a slow and arduous process.
-At seventeen, Beatrice begins to apprentice under her parents in order to take over a large part of the business when she turns twenty years old. For the first time in her life, she gets to spend a significant amount of time with her parents. This causes her to grow somewhat distant from Miriam, as they arent spending nearly as much time together now due to her responsibilities. Beatrice dismisses the shift in Miriam's demeanor because of this, assuming they were just growing distant. She still tries her best to keep in touch.
-Now a very polite & charismatic young woman, Beatrice frequented red-blood parties and events, dedicating a significant amount of time to networking. She loves dressing up and attending get-togethers, and more than anything, she loves snooping in on the gossip of loose-lipped aristocrats.
-Two months before Beatrice is set to be sworn in under her family's business, she overhears a rumor about herself. Learning that your best friend of nearly a decade was tasked with killing you was quite alarming. Thinking that the hit was placed on her alone, Beatrice promptly fled the province unannounced to all but her parents & the few housekeepers she dragged along with her in an attempt to put space between herself and Miriam, as well as devising a plan. Perhaps it was a misunderstanding, or maybe Miriam could be reasoned with? Surely, if she told anyone about this before knowing the truth herself, it would spell danger for her lifelong friend. Despite knowing the trouble she was in, and the potential severity of the situation, Beatrice could not possibly imagine this being the whole truth. She wanted to trust her dearest friend, but admittedly she was wary.
-After an agonizing month, missing her family and friends more than she knew was possible, she decided she would confront Miriam. She needed to hear it from their own mouth. To know what was going on. She wanted more than anything for it to be a misunderstanding. To be able to trust them again. Beatrice returned home just in time to celebrate her officially taking the title of the Frey's business, making certain that Miriam was on the guest's registry.
-Frey parties were known to be extravagant, filled with all sorts of family and peers, and this one would be no exception. Beatrice was counting on it. She needed an opportunity to escape for a moment, and have a word with her dearest friend. Approximately an hour into the party, she found that moment. Kissing her grandmother on the back of her hand, she would slip away from the party, trying her best to find where Miriam had wandered off to.
-Having grown tired of how long it had taken the Leitners to carry out their task, another hit was placed by someone far less experienced. The goal was to wipe out as many Freys as possible, regardless of how it happened. You get what you pay for, though, and this was far more rushed/sloppy.
-Beatrice isn't caught by the first explosion, though if she'd stayed in her seat any longer she would have surely died. The second just barely caught her, knocking her unconscious. When she awoke, Miriam was at her side, desperately trying to shake her back to the land of the living. With the building in flames, the two of them tried to flee the disaster. They were nearly in the clear when Beatrice stumbled-- tripping over what remained of her grandmother. Frozen in place, she hardly had enough time to register what was happening, before Miriam pushed her out of the way of falling debris, which trapped them underneath it instead. Despite her best efforts, Beatrice could not free them from the fallen supports, and she once again collapsed due to smoke inhalation.
-Through some miracle, or some mistake by their assailant, both Beatrice and Miriam survived. Rescued some way or another by the remaining Freys. While this was good news, it also meant two things:
- Beatrice still had a target on her back, and now that it was clear someone was trying to get rid of them, they would likely take more desperate measures to accomplish this
- In trying to delay the inevitable and take as many loopholes as they could, Miriam had let down their family, and tarnished their century-long good name and reputation.
-Despite her caretaker's best efforts, Beatrice fled hospice as soon as she could walk, despite her injuries. The fear of being a sitting duck, and the guilt over Miriam's sacrifice made her restless. She needed answers, and a solution.
-It seemed as though Miriam had a similar idea, having also snuck away multiple times already to try and see her, despite their injuries being far worse than Beatrice's.
-Beatrice spent the next three months doting over Miriam every waking hour, sometimes forcing herself to stay up for days at a time to tend to them (despite their protests against it). They were both vulnerable, and she couldn't waste a single moment sleeping. Any second could be her last, and she needed to make sure she was using them as efficiently as possible to care for her dearest friend. There was an unspoken understanding between the two of them, now. Miriam would keep her safe without question. There wasn't a shred of doubt in Beatrice's mind.
--During this period of recovery, the two of them plotted their escape. Though their friendship had been strengthened, their uncertain future loomed overhead. Miriam had dragged her family's name through the mud by finding as many loopholes as possible to avoid harming Beatrice or her parents, and the families who wanted the Freys dead were getting more and more desperate. Their situation was bleak, and neither of them could return to the life they once had.
-Miriam feels further pressure, scared that they will still be required to kill beatrice.
-Selfishly, they scrounge up as much as they can, and as soon as Miriam is well enough to make the move, they escape in the night, taking what little they could to Regalia. It is certainly not easy, especially with the condition they're both in, and they spend most of their funds on housing & paying off whoever helped them make the move to bribe them into discretion. They take on new identities and try to hide out in crookback to avoid detection. -
