Did you know that their is a disease that dwarfs can get?
Dwarfs can only get sick from evil things and evil deeds.
A dwarf that does exceptional evil can start to grey.

Like vampirism you can't tell if a dwarf is grey when you do /seen
Dwarfs can go grey if they kill non enemy players or repetitively kill the same player in a certain amount of time.

Gray dwarfs get:
Automatic blind when exposed to sunlight. The effect wears off after 5 seconds of being back in a darker spot.
When a gray dwarf strikes an opponent the opponent receives blind for 1 second. This is due to the evil the grey dwarfs poses which can steal the light from players they touch.

I didn't know this is is in the massive lore? Then again apparently I'm just a stupid idiot

May I suggest a admin locks this thread? A) its not going to be implemented. B) Flame war immenent due to The comment above

Is it just me or does this seem to reward trolls? You get rewards for killing someone over and over again....

I would think that not being able to see in the sunlight at all is a big disadvantage and that grey dwarfs do exist in medieval fantasy.
So saying that it is a knock off of vampirism is a stupid deduction.

I don't care if they exist in general medieval fantasy lore. I care about if they exist in MassiveCraft lore. Also, they get disadvantages in sunlight, which is the same as vampires.

Wait so why do we need this again?

This adds RP to the server and lets fallen dwarfs be more known.
If a dwarf does evil it shows as it should show.
Dwarfs are protectors of living things on the earth.
They do not build their massive refineries above ground and ruin nature.
They do battle against evil things
and once they die they become stone beings that live deep underground protecting the earth from evil that spawns from bellow.

Grey dwarfs are dwarfs that have fallen from their natural role and become diseased.[DOUBLEPOST=1368049387,1368049312][/DOUBLEPOST]
Can you cite your source where Gray Dwarves are mentioned in MassiveCraft lore?
You find it!
If it is not their then it should be.
The gray dwarfs is a huge aspect of dwarf history, culture whatever and should be in the lore.

No, just no. I really don't want to see MassiveCraft take every idea ever from general medieval fantasy lore. They will only make new races/subraces that are unique.

The whole point of having different races is that it adds diversity and differentiation between them.
At the moment the races are reasonably balanced with their pros and cons and it doesn't seem neccesary in my opinion to change that.
Also the fact the enemy becomes blinded with each hit received is a bit OP and would give an unfair advantage in combat.

Can anyone tell me why this is needed?

Why not just RP as a "Grey Dwarf" instead of making it be an actual race? I've seen plenty of "Blood Elves" and "Silver Dwarfs"

I agree with this massive craft is not just your standard RPG adventure, if we followed things in other lore the server would be unoriginal and plain.

If you are going to put dwarfs in massive craft you might as well follow the lore and put grey dwarfs in their too.
If not then dwarfs are not really dwarfs and are just pvp useful and pointless to an RP server.

Why can't a dwarf just... I dunno, roleplay as an evil dwarf? You can get pretty well known by making a faction of evil dwarves, just like you get well known by making a evil faction or vampires, or vampire hunters.

Most players will not pretend they are blinded by sunlight.
they don't wait till its dark out to go where they need to they will just say some random crap about how the light is their and they cannot see and end up getting where they need to anyway.

Again, I ask, what lore is this? Not MassiveCraft's. Someone needs to lock this thread :o

The point we are trying to get across is that something similar has been debated with elves, people are quite happy to just put into their character lore something along these lines without the need to have 100 variants of each race, in-depth things such as your suggestion are always better suited to being just on the forums and leaving it at that.
Dwarfs are not only a PvP useful race, the whole point of the races is so you can better distinguish who your character is on a basic level in-game and as I stated previously the in-depth stuff should be left to the forums.

Baldursgate, guild wars are games that I know have it implemented.
People have twisted the original story allot in many lore's
and their are very few movies where dwarfs are show.
If a movie had grey dwarfs in it it would be a very scary movie.
why do you where the dwarf skin if you do not do the lore.
I bet you are just against the idea because your orc behavior on the server will eventually make you a grey dwarf and you will no longer be able to fight factions practically 50% of the time due to sunlight totally blinding you.

All you dwarf only interested in pvp change your skins to orc or stop role playing. <- and that makes massive a non rp server....
again grey dwarfs are a good idea.

That's because those players will not immediately know what "Grey Dwarf" is. You can rectify this situation without using a new race by simply a) starting an entire in-game roleplay about it, or b) setting the example. You cannot expect all the players to comply with your own rules for a specific sub-race. You can inform those who are interested as role playing as Grey Dwarfs that there are these conditions to which they must follow, but ultimately it is still their choice whether they want to RP it or not.

If you are setting the example, perhaps people will follow you then and like Blood Elves, Grey Dwarfs can become a thing. You can start a roleplay telling others about your plight as a grey dwarf, for example, how the sunlight hurts your eyes.

My only problem with this suggestion at this moment in time is that you and any others who wish to join you can start this as a thing in game if you wanted to, just through regular RP. There would be no need to add a new race. Just start by setting a good example of Grey Dwarf RP to others.

Calm down. Are you implying that all dwarves are good and incapable of performing evil deeds?
They get sick from evil <- strong word. they can steal and be brash like I am all they want.

Unlike the #$%@! elves dwarfs do not like to play makeshift the same way. Reality is a factor.

Exactly the point I was trying to get at ( your better at wording than me :P)

disagree because only people that read the threads will role play it and that is if they take the time to look for it or even think about it. Implementing it for real in the game will make it known. If you want an rp server with less noobs don't give the option to role play and just make it so.

We should not have to repeat the lore or whatever the hell is going on to people that just kills the event. because you can spend more time explaining then doing and then its just weird to do it.

There's reality in minecraft? Mind Blown. Seriously, didn't you just make a thread on the importance of roleplay? Instead of adding this into the game, just roleplay as a freakin grey dwarf.

What you just said is completely irrational.
You cannot force anyone to comply by RP rules that you feel necessary and if you would like people to follow them in the first place then I suggest you do not disrespect anyone else's RP views.
You also claim reality is a factor when often they seem to take this fact a lot more into account than you have seemed to.

This adds PvP abilites to Gray Dwarves though, so you should stop roleplaying :/[DOUBLEPOST=1368051159,1368051087][/DOUBLEPOST]

And also, how come you can't just Roleplay as one?

If it is an rp server then their are rp things in it not just ideas.
The ideas have to be real.[DOUBLEPOST=1368051334,1368051207][/DOUBLEPOST]and being blind in sunlight is way worse then being blinded by a second when you get hit.
fighting a grey dwarf in the dark would be like fighting a strobe light. you can still see to an extent.

Grey dwarfs are meant to be scary.

.... you do realize the whole basis of rp is pretending right? If you roleplay as something, you aren't that being, you're just pretending to be it. Nothing has to be real.

I disagree with your premise because Blood Elves and a lot of other sub-races I know people RP as did not begin as forum threads. (I am using the example of Blood Elf because it is the one I've seen most often in game.)

Even then, wouldn't it be nice to see an active forum user role playing as a Grey Dwarf? And these "noobs" can always be taught. Don't tell me that there wasn't a moment in time when you were the noob. Everyone has gone down that road, Dworvin. Everyone was a noob once. If the "noob" then refuses to cooperate and ends up spamming or role playing badly, just correct them nicely. If they refuse to listen to your advice, then that's up to them.

Grey Dwarves are a good idea for a sub-race, but they do not need an entirely new "disease" or race type for them to exist. This is a roleplay server, take advantage of the role play aspect.

If it is an rp server then their are rp things in it not just ideas.
The ideas have to be real.
No they don't the fact is your playing a game that everyone decides what they want and don't want.
If you want to implement it how about you spend the hours others spend coding it into a plugin that will work before trying to impose your views on someone else. personally I think we have given you a simplified way of solving the problem you have.

Are you kidding me? Look at Corn Alriena's post (post #18). And when you are roleplaying, it becomes real in your imagination (nod)
You kidding me? This is a first person game where their is real time to take in account when playing.
not just people taking turns thinking, talking and acting a damn script.
Go back to Dungeons and dragons though even that game you have to follow the rules and not just kill people with a stare.
