Scariest Factions

Donatella, obviously. And the disbanded faction "Kawaii". It was too kawaii desu.
-FALLS UNGRACEFULLY FROM THE SKY-
Speaking of Kawaii, can we please sob over the current state it's in? Oh woe to the most kawaii faction to have ever existed. I've heard tales of an undead walrus geisha wandering the Ithanian plains, searching for poor souls to 'entertain' to death.

Honestly, factions are just factions to me anymore.

Even blatantly "evil" factions like Kindred, or Bloodshed don't give me much ill vibes.

There was only one time I was genuinely terrified about something on Massivecraft, and that was a trick I played on myself.

Koertge's Badru, good ole Alamut, thnm's Vikings... Like gridiron states fear only existed when there was a chance of angering a member of these unbeatable factions, a fear that your faction would be destroyed.

Talking about fear in terms of pvp power, I think that no faction now could compare to fear some older ones instilled. I would certainly say way back in the day Badru scared the hell out of me. We tried to raid them once, got massacred, then raided by koertge just about every day. Someone at the time, a player named zErO_ZeR00 would raid us just about every day, I still remember his name from the absurd amount of times I died to him. Around that general time frame there were other factions that I would certainly never mess with such as Serenum under Darkfeather, Bsavs, and Syko, and players such as Phoenix_R3born.

Move down the scale to about last year, and I would say the original Valyria was certainly a force to fear, as they really "modernized" pvp while we all tried using old tactics on them that completely failed. Even the original Magnanimus had me in awe, watching a bunch of bloodlusting players I had never heard of go wreck 3 of the best pvp factions outside their wall was amazing. I would say the last pvper I have feared was vip96 during the Chron war where he would go batman and take on about 20 of us. Since that war, there have been pvpers I respected and certainly pvpers that were better than me but none really had the same fear factor as those from back in the day.

Honestly, I'm not really afraid of any "modern" factions. They just don't seem to capture that feeling of being a real threat. Back in the day, I would be honestly terrified whenever I thought about Argonia, Alamut, Valyria... If any of those factions had declared war on me, I would have dug a three block deep hole and hid in it for the next three months. I think it was because of the passion the factions had for war. When Argonia raided Zion, they didn't do it for the lulz, they did it out of what felt like genuine antagonism. The Argonia-Zion war went on for months at a time, and a lot of members of Zion just ended up hating anything about Argonia. Now a days the process of raiding feels...civilized. Maybe its the proxy wars that go on, with either side going "don't worry guys, we gotz allies to fight this war for us!" War doesn't seem as personal as it once did. Factions these days have such a light view on war, when back then it really felt like war was this catastrophe, this disaster. Maybe I'm nostalgic, but I really do feel that in the past people actually took wars more seriously.

Im the most scare.
Im the one man Orc armada with a Kraken.
I personaly feel this picture sums it up.

I honestly think Wistaf's LEGENDARY Arthain. ;). Also ConoManteh. If you remember that faction, your a beast.

This has probably been repeated multiple times in em long paragraphs I'm too lazy to read xD. I personally think that a lot of fear was lost due to role play getting more and more popular. Before people had to just simply deal with getting raided every day and adjust to it. Now they call harassment and such therefore showing other factions the easy way out causing them to not be afraid. Back in the imperial war it was like 'We will raid you, deal with it' now it's more like ' lemme find a bad role play reason and il come raid you for 2 hours then get forced to leave'. This is just my opinion, if I offended anyone I didn't mean to. :)

Pvp fear was lost when factions started to be able to get people perm banned for raiding them. ;) In all seriousness I remember when crossing a barbarian such as koertge, who took on all of Alamut and Valyria at one point, or Bornasepic who declared he would solo viridia at its peak an hour before being perm banned, would mean certain death. I never really saw so much abuse of calling harassment until sometime after last summer with huge rich rp factions that didn't want to put up the tribute, even though they could certainly afford it. Maybe in a year or so things will be like they once were... If only.

Meh, right now scared of none, since everyone is mostly equal.

Now Magnanimus I can understand but what is it with Sovereign as well? They're really not scary in my opinion.

I believe massive changed when role play factions got popular, it sort of changed without any of us noticing. It was like one day you would be spam raiding a faction then the next you would be sanctioned for a week. The more popular role play became the harder it became to restore its original do what ya want values. Role play had too much work put in to it. To just throw away. That's just how it is :(. Also correct me if I'm wrong role play started from pvp? Like people would be killing and raiding and thought ' let's pretend as if this was real' and from there role play developed to the point where it was separated from pvp and became its own thing.

There is no fear anymore just as the veterans in the chat can testify. There is no fear when you can hide in regalia, there is no fear when you can hide behind the messy rules, there is no fear when you can just lock your door. Fear was harvesting crops and having soldiers storm in and destroy you. Fear was training in the darkroom and being ambushed, Fear was getting cannons fired at your faction until you surrender for the good of your civilians. Fear was not knowing if an alt had been thrown into your faction to sabotage your defences, Fear was being forced to pay taxes or be raided. We used to admit defeat, and when we didn't we had the decency to fight them rather than cower. Those days of old are long gone. The empires crumbled, the cities turned to ruins, and the great soldiers gone in the ship loads.

Since there is so much talk about mithril in this chat i just would like to mention that it looks like it's being sieged by orcs on dynmap. Why would you build an orc settlement next to the human one? :p

The Kingdom of Mithril had a pact with the orcs that lived nearby when the city was constructed. We feed them, they become a large part of our defense force. We also have our own Rohghash Ironmonger @Th3_Drunk_Monk, Who runs the encampment and keeps the orcs in line, The Mithril lore will be out soon hopefully so you will get your answers there.

Back than? Alamut (Still active, respected), Magnanimus, Invictus (When active), Saun
Now? Simple...None! PvP R Dead

Algaron, back when Bloodshed was still a rather noobie faction, they were one of the few factions who raided us for the only fact we were vampires, and even had enough respect to not attack the non infected members. It was chilling and Rooseus put on quite a show which I had much respect for.

I'd say Bloodshed is quite scary, you ought to meet their little gang of vampires. And do not forget their lovely leader,

@Sarge_Peppers Quite a nice story. But I love todays RolePlay, and PvP. When you mix them, they are great, I think all PvP'ers should RP. For example: Me. I've been pvping for while, I got loads of warnings, mutes and I turned to Roleplay, mixed with PvP, making my own little roleplay Community. I got to tell you, its wonderful, and there is a lot of fun.

Phrow RP and PvP are indeed a good mix. I myself have always kept to keeping my PvP character to certain guidelines for raiding depending on my RP, however, the problem lies in a place and time where PvPrs spent hours on end forging ourselves out of protected areas. We created vast empires and collected mountains of resources. We trained and fought with each other for the goal of being the top dogs. Now people come to play massive and spend a few hours in Regalia typing to become "noble" They are arrogant and think that they are better off than us because "Regalia is Law" We don't like such arrogance and when they step out of Regalia we pounce like hyenas protecting there territory. As for the rift in between the RP and PvP community it is most widened when us PvPrs assert are real dominance and the RPrs have too much "honor" to surrender.

One mention of Saun. We did more with 5-6 players than most did with entire armies. Sure we lost some battles/wars but it wasn't about that. It was about being that ever present threat, that dark being in the shadows. We researched every faction we raided. Days, sometimes weeks of watching them. Feeling out who the strongest of them were. Finding the weakness in their "impenetrable walls".

Alright that was the Saun in me showing off. As for actual fear, I'd say Alamut and Valyria (OG factions, not the shells they are now). I remember being in White Lotus and always looking north to make sure no one from Alamut was coming over the hill for us. Any raid that was held, Valyria was that back up, the tide turner.

But as most have said, the server quietly, but very quickly changed into a RP server. Gone are the days of having 2-3 worlds and having to fight for land, and privileges. Now everyone is either in Regalia, or in their base making money. You attack someone and your getting a notice a day or two later for harassment.

For example, when the beds reset I was trying to get back to mine and was attacked by a Miair player. I was told I was in the lands of a Nomad faction. My response was that a true Nomad would have no lands, they are always moving. I got threatened because I wasn't "RP'ing" and was discrediting that players "lore"

I am a psychopathic Robot, I do not know fear, I cannot be bargained with... I do not know where I am... I am a robot, I eat food.
... Yea, no faction scares me, really... mainly because I haven't collected their member's skulls yet...
XD
