Just a few days after the incident of Iliosakti, one single biireme glided forward, carrying a suite of servants and the Countess. Meanwhile in Thessalonikon, Theodora had sent a letter for her troops to ready themselves for her arrival so she could settle this conundrum once and for all. The troops arrived at noon, landing ashore and pouring out to form a barricade between the ferocious crowd and a cleared space. Troops from the Army of The Harpy quickly set up a podium in the cleared space as the bireme docked. Escorted off the boat by the Army, the Countess rose onto the platform to address the crowd. Theodora took the stage, surrounded by Thessalonikon guards in the inner circle. She stood proud and strong, clearing her throat.
"Citizens of my beloved Thessalonikon! I have heard your plea, your cry for the end to this madness! I, Theodora Antigoni Psanadarion, have declared that the fealty to Lord Tristan Lamperouge has been declared null and void! Thessalonikon is a independent land once more! I will guard you, will feed you, provide for you as a mother to her babe! I will crush invaders as an owl swoops down on it's prey in the dark of the night! We will stand on our own feet, and prosper for the ages to come! Soon we will be the very face of the East, but I ask you to stop your rioting and clear the streets of chaos, hang the banners of House Psanadarion from your windows and rooftops! We will prepare for a fortnight of celebrations, and in the years to come this week will be honoured and celebrated to mark the independence of Thessalonikon! Resume with your duties, the farmers to your flocks of sheep, the workers to producing our dyes! We Etosians will show the Empire what respectable people we are! Long live Etosil! Long live Thessalonikon!"
The people mumbled, their faces warped with cool relief tinged in sharp disbelief -- their independence was restored and their cultural identity properly secured. Slowly, but surely, the people murmured, heads bobbing up and down in approving nods before clapping filled the air, only to be replaced with excited cheers.
In contrast, however, the riots continued in their aggressively progressive vigor in the Mountain Chain. The people stormed throughout the duchy, a few keeps said to have been stormed and trade in and out of the lands at a complete halt. Monuments and properties held and owned by the House Coen have been defaced, the people publicly scorning His Imperial Grace Thomas of the House Kade and His Grace William of the House Coen. Distant and vague whispers of the people wanting to overthrow the duke have been a sudden threat to rise from the lands, the upper class and rich families of the land already fighting amongst each other to see who could try and declare themselves the new ducal lords.
Meanwhile in Dragenthal, the disease plaguing the northern realm has begun to die down oh-so slightly, population slimming down and quarantines beginning to operate properly. However, the people still called for the Count Travis of the House Black's blood. It has been decreed by the Imperial State Council that Travis of the House Black would be executed for crimes against his people and the realm, and his House will be placed elsewhere in the archipel. The closest legitimate heir was recorded as being a certain Christopher of the House Black, a first cousin to Travis. The Imperial State Council has yet to release the specifics of the House Black's new lands besides that they would be about the Drixagh area -- akin to that of the House Santorski and the House Viduggla.
As the chaos in northern Dragenthal reached its peak and began its slow descend down, representatives of Thomas Kade stepped forward just yesterday, presenting ancient documents and paperwork dictating that the House Kade maintained a distant claim to the county of Notting, having had the county under a de jure vassalage for decades. The representatives spoke out to the House Red, citing that their liege wanted the county of Notting under their vassalage. House Kade's representatives propose that the county of Notting is considered to be a vassal of the His Imperial Grace Thomas of the House Kade while still being under the de facto leadership of the House Red. The House Red still maintains control over its other titles and counties outside of the county of Notting should they accept, and nothing is likely to change beyond the county of Notting maintaining a liege above the ducal House Red. As Regalian feudalism dictates, such is possible.
In other news, the House Typhonus has dropped the threat of war against the House Santorski over one of their vassal's counties in exchange for a sum of Regals. The House Santorski complied and the House Typhonus submitted the documents stating their claim to the House Santorski. The threat of war has been dismissed in the north, and the people of the north and Calemberg alike have settled back into what would be expected peace.
