Reflection Of The Days Past

"Kill or be killed, eat or be eaten, was the law; and this mandate, down to the depths of time, he obeyed." - Jack London
The sound of wood smashing from all corners filled the ship's cabin, the inside lined with luxurious jewelry and priceless artifacts all recovered from a treasure hunt well recovered. Roars and screams came from outside, the sounds the dead made. Inside sat the two, the businessman and the thief as they sat out their final moments; barrels of gunpowder at the ready with the capability of leveling the surrounding area. Their future was slowly fading by the moment, their old work forgotten and their final moments to be recounted for.

"So, this is it? Surrounded on all sides with our pants down... Would have hoped for a more bespoke ending." muttered the businessman, looking up towards the thief with a face of sorrow. His noble clothing torn and dirty from the incident. The thief took a toke from his cigar, blowing it out slowly as they tried to preserve the moment. "Welcome to the life of a criminal. While you would sit in your fancy houses drinking the finest wine, we sit here giving our lives so the closest thing to our families can live." announced the Thief, glancing around the roof to try and observe their presence above.

They took their final moments, hearing the sound of glass smashing against the side of the boat as it set sail once more, ripped apart from her former home and captain. Screams of joy came from the outside, slowly fading as the ship parted. The doors were soon ripped open, Freya's troops began to flood the boat. They glanced at each other, their time was up. The thief closed their eyes and forced the cigar into the fuze, quickly catching alight as the gunpowder soon followed, blasting the ship apart as it departed the docks. Another casualty of war, another unnamed hero. Freya Lo won this round, but her downfall was soon to come.

Found this while searching my computer for coursework, I thought it might be a decent read so I thought it might be worth fixing up and uploading. For compliance, the ship was detached before it was overrun, stopping any damage to the docks.
