My dream since the last time that I played with x_sam_boi was to be in a world surrounded by roleplay; no PvP, no person factions, no trashed landscape after a noob's first build. I for one get very into it when involved in roleplaying, and to see a world on Massivecraft where I (and others) can practically call Heaven, would be remarkable. The world could be generated using TerrainControl (a generous plugin by our God, Cayorian), and be somewhere around 1/4 the size of Ceardia (See map.massivecraft.com). The building style would be an explicit European-Medieval style theme, with a hint of oriental (because you just can't live on without that WhiteLotus). I of course, could draw out the map, and do the building of the cities and towns. All of which would/could be protected by a faction of it's own, and then what would be the Wilderness, could be a faction called "Timber", which engulfs the land on the world not claimed by a city faction. This faction would simply be for the name, as changing the name for Wilderness would affect the entire server, and I'm sure nobody wants that.

Above is just some notes for you and I. Anyways, the other "factions" in this world would not be player owned, and have no leaders, and (with some exceptions) officers. This world would be similar to the others, having a main capital as the world entry point, and the cities each specializing in something. (Eternia = Mining) (Elgnot = Trade) etc. *not real names* Hopefully if you have anything to add which you think should be added, please post. Just please don't lock this post, as it is for suggestions and opinions. If the chicken wasn't burning, and I didn't have to go, I would add more, but. This is all I have to add at the moment. I will upload some pictures of the cities that I've drawn out already, this weekend, as I am very busy working on a project for a contest.

The up-to-date map. (About 30% done. All generated without Bo2's. Also using default biome colors)

Zealia.png

Here are some pictures of the cities. (I will upload 1 by 1, as I usually do this after I get a drink or go use the bathroom)

Yeri: Snow-based fort located in the south-west portion of the map. Rich in ore, and a rest stop for adventurers to Mt. Everfreeze; the tallest recorded mountain in history. Snow-ins are a usual here, and the general store is open as often as the local inn is.

DSCN5191.JPG

*NEW* Koppin Castle: Controls most of the north east side of the map. Very prestigious, and into politics. The Queen is unknown, but the answer to why the castle was built is well known. This is virtually a knowledge center for the known world, and holds a wide collection of books in the dungeon Archives. A hostile Outpost is located 300 blocks south-east of the castle, and causes many issues with the residents and visitors. The guards here are restless, and if you are caught lurking around at night, you may face the Dungeon.

This is a great idea. Ceardia, Daendroc and even Ellador are populated by noobs who build floating structures and have never roleplayed in their lives. I'd love to see something like this. Perhaps if the world was 1/4 of Ceardia, people would have to send in a 1-minute application to be able to access it? It would just narrow the people that want to roleplay down from the noobs.

You would be able to join a city's faction to open containers and doors, but you wouldn't be able to build.[DOUBLEPOST=1353092829][/DOUBLEPOST]I draw for fun sometimes, so I'll sketch up a map just in-case this is approved (which probably won't happen). I'll upload some pictures when I reach the Targus at home.

This would take too much effort, time, and a bunch of other resources...Be happy and satisified with the current worlds we have, specifically Ellador, and look forward to Regalia. Ellador released a few months ago, and you are saying we need a new world again? Even though the various worlds have been noobitized by flying structures, instead of complaining and waiting for somebody else to fix it, tear it down...Not only will you have clear building space, but you will also have some materials ;)

Are you thankful for cobblestone walls to the height limit? That's what I thought. I for one have a pretty empty schedule for this weekend, so I will be working on this. Quote: I. I am the only one working on this, so for someone like you to say that it's a "waste of time, effort, and resources" is pretty vague. If it was a community effort, I would agree with you, but as this is a personal project to increase the roleplay on the server, you have no real say as to what happens since you are just a normal player. The only thing that you can really do to/for this, is suggest more ideas. Thank you for your time.

The process might take some time, but the idea isn't bad. Maybe a custom map made by the Staff that acts like an adventure map? That would be nice. Something we can access fully and still have a blast in, especially in the RP way.

Plus, this world is roleplay only. The only time that construction will take place will be during development. And I spent a week cleaning the north side of spawn only to have it griefed again.[DOUBLEPOST=1353108706][/DOUBLEPOST]

I'm making the map. Staff are too busy nowadays to waste their time with tasks that can be accomplished by me. I've got some time on my hands.

Are you serious? That I am just a normal player, and you are what, a high-ranking admin who does all the work? Honestly, you were selfish right there. Normal players are what have improved this server; they are the ONES WHO KEEP IT ALIVE. So before you start degrading the ranks of fellow players, I would like you to think. On a different thread, I had volunteered to make a faction to secure the ruins of Ceardia, and repair them. I'm working on getting the money, I have been busy in Minecraft working on other business.

And you say that I can only suggest more ideas? And that I can't do anything? I'm done with this argument.

And by the way, here is a thread already suggested by Hardy(or something similar): Important - New World Concept. | MassiveCraft Forums

I support this idea personally, though there are some issues (which Imboring pointed out). Namely that the noobishness can be dealt with by taking down noobish structures. If you care so much, work on it yourself. Also, RP is optional, despite the servers description as an RP server. Also, I do believe that Regalia is pretty much the world you desire here, except with only one city. It has a poor district, elven district, rich district, ext. It's built to be the spawn and RP center of the server. Also, the admins are probably already working on a new world, or ideas for one, as a server that doesn't evolve will die when people grow bored.

I would aid with the construction of a city if this world ever went forward and became reality, as I enjoy realistic constructs. I would also help tear down ugly walls (like the Qarth Walls, which I plan to -erm- remove) and ugly structures (though only ones in my faction turf for now). Perhaps you could create a group of people who work to tear stuff down with you. I have no real argument with your idea except the above stated issues. I will help where I can, and support you where I can't. Good luck!

Oh... I just have to say, the below post ticks me off. So here is my response:

Time for me to go mafia analysis on ur bum rear. 1) Imboring is a friend. 2) He makes a valid point. 3) He has a full right to voice his opinion. You can't tell him he doesn't, and u asked for opinions.

On to the breakdown of your post.

"Are you thankful for cobblestone walls to the height limit? That's what I thought." - No one likes those, but as Imboring stated, you can tear it downyourself if it bugs you enough. Every great achievement started with one helpful person.

"I for one have a pretty empty schedule for this weekend, so I will be working on this. Quote: I. I am the only one working on this, so for someone like you to say that it's a "waste of time, effort, and resources" is pretty vague." - I did not notice that you said you would be the only one working on this in your original post. I think you should understand that Imboring was referencing the fact that administrators would need to create this world, which would take away from other, possibly more important, tasks - like making Regalia (which is practically the world your dreaming of, but with only one city).

"If it was a community effort, I would agree with you, but as this is a personal project to increase the roleplay on the server," - If it is personal then why did you ask opinions? You want others to help, and he states his opinion on it (which you asked for). As a personal project I commend you for attempting to increase RP. I support RP within reason (I won't ask my members to do it, but will do so myself on occasion). Good luck with your task here.

"you have no real say as to what happens since you are just a normal player." - This is unneeded, rude, stupid, foolish, and dumb. Not a pentanegative. You shouldn't tell people with Imborings skills at constructing not-nooby structures that they are 'just a normal player' to begine with. Beyond that, he has just as much say as anyone else who isn't an admin. If you want admin thoughts, ask for admin thoughts. You have no more 'real say' then he or I do, because in the end Cayorion and NinjaBaver own the sever and the admins decide everything for us. Premiums (me) just help support the server as a DONATION, not as payment to be heard.

"The only thing that you can really do to/for this, is suggest more ideas" - I do believe that a) you asked for opinions therefor he 'can really' post his opinion and b) that he did suggest more ideas: tear down the walls and nooby crap yourself instead of asking others to do things for you. In the end, of course, all anyone 'can really do' is suggest more ideas, unless they happen to be a master coder who can create mods and run this server on their own like Cay and Baver.

"Thank you for your time." - You're welcome :) It has been rather unproductive though, due yo you crushing others opinions simply because they don't agree with you.

I agree in terms of the fact that I had referenced the work done by the admins. Let me break down for you:
- You would need to gather Wessex and the world development team
- They would be able to use WorldEdit
- They have almost unlimited resources
Yet, this all takes what? 2-8 months to make a world? Perhaps even longer?

See my point? No one single person can design a world. This is why you need comments, ideas, and helpers. Maybe, once Regalia has come out along with server sharding, we can look to a new world. But for a while, I think this will be the main concern. And, if you want to do some good, don't fret about making a new world. Adding new worlds doesn't solve anything. Work on improving the surroundings of Massivecraft instead :)

What, do you think I'm rebuilding Ellador from the bottom up? No. I'm not spending 2000 hours buildings Bo2's and whatnot. This will be a simple project that I, and only I, will be doing. If you want to mouth about what to do like you know everything, be my guest. This is for fun, and not for noobs, and players that lack proper building skills to just run around and build cobble huts. If I remember correctly, the faction that you were in would qualify as one of those factions. As for the "comments, ideas, and helpers", this is what this forum commentary is for. Not for you to go around saying what has to be done, and what doesn't. No further comment from you.[DOUBLEPOST=1353115288][/DOUBLEPOST]

Well considering the fact that Imboring acts like he is a staff member, his comments were derogatory. This commentary is for ideas. If you have a negative opinion, go post it to Facebook. This is a world for ONLY roleplay. If anything, it is more of an RPG world. There are plenty of other worlds for personal factions.

I have the freedom of speech. So:
1) If you think I act like a staff member, you are dead wrong. I probably just speak with so much authority that I sound like one.
2) You said it was a personal project that only you were doing. If so, why'd you post it on the fourms in the suggestions space? Probably to get suggestions? Not to mention, Hardy already posted a thread similar to this.
3) I'm done with this flame war. If you think me and my faction are a bunch of little noobs, go say it. You aren't much better yourself.[DOUBLEPOST=1353119768][/DOUBLEPOST]

Now that was just plain insulting. Not only do you openly oppose my ideas and my nature, but you oppose my faction. Seriously, was that comment about my faction necessary?

If you're complaining about me opposing your faction, then maybe you should've thought before your food-critic style posting. If you don't have anything positive to say, then don't say anything at all. Have a nice day. :)[DOUBLEPOST=1353125623][/DOUBLEPOST]Found the USB adapter for the Nikon, so enjoy the pictures as I upload very slowly. <3[DOUBLEPOST=1353127039][/DOUBLEPOST]The drawing of Yeri only included the walls, and gate. I'll play around in Singleplayer and post a download for the map when I'm done messing around.

Well tax, you could say that everyone should only post positive comments, but that would do nothing. Criticisms help you realize what mistakes your plan has and therefore help you fix those mistakes. You should be polite and try to see it from their point of view before lashing out and insulting people. Just my 2 cents.

I see what you're saying.

This world could make a great roleplay environment, but would we be able to interact with some areas?

Anyway thats rants over. SO your suggesting a world entirely based on role play? Hmmmm, the idea sounds good, and Imboring already has most of the problems covered, but here is another one. Is there enough people on the server to keep that world populated? From what your saying it sounds like the world is some hardcore role play, but I'm not sure there would be that many players that would actually want to role play and nothing else. I know it seems kinda ridiculous, since its a role play server after all, but the majority of players here seem to like the ordinary experience with a few small drops of role play just added in. I would love that world, and i know some other people would too, but is it enough?

You would be able to use containers, and open doors, aswell as flip switches and fill shops. The shop will be provided by a staff member, if I can find someone, and the prices would be very low, so you wouldn't need to spend a whole butt-load of your precious Silver on a few slices of bread. I'm sure we can figure something out, but that will be after I see what we can do with this. I'm taking an hour long break for some Battlefield, and GTA IV, so see you then. :) The more suggestions, the better![DOUBLEPOST=1353128446][/DOUBLEPOST]

I believe so, but that's what I think. I have no authority over what is done with this project if/when it's accepted, if it gets accepted.

I like this idea, but I share favoured's concern that there might not be enough people playing on it for it to work. hopefully by the time you finish it and its implemented (assuming admins want to) there will be a considerably higher population on the server.

The idea is amazing. I would love to play in a full RP world.. Here is a suggestion: Let people get jobs (blacksmith, brewer and so on) and also let people buy houses to live in. This way, it would be like an medieval RP world like it was in the old times ( i mean like really old,, )

The players would probably manage that themselves, considering they would also pick which city they would want to live in. Implementation of this world would make me cry, and throw money at my screen. If possible, I would throw an ATM at it.

Lol yeah, i would love to see this being made by the fantastic builders of massivecraft.

Not sure who still plays, and who doesn't. Although I did catch up with zanehortonrocks, and some others. I was planning on just building this on my own, or with whoever can follow building guidelines, and actually listen when I tell them something. Now, back to work.

On Massivecraft? on your own? O.o that would take ages.. you would have needed a faction or two big enough to claim the entire landscape you wanted to build on and alot of time on your hands.. :S

I have nowhere on Massivecraft to build in Creative, and certainly nowhere on there to generate the world in the end. I still have a ton of work left to do with the drawing portion of the map aswell, so this will take a while. Plus, in the end, it's a matter of if it is accepted or not.[DOUBLEPOST=1353132323][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh dear, it's going to take more than one weekend. :)

I would suggest you get a private server and start generating the terrain with VoxelSniper.. it make the progress go alot faster and its better than the normal world generating since you choose everything

Using TerrainControl to "generate" the terrain. I'll play around with it for a bit, and then use the voxel sniper for detailing/touching up. I am a lazy buck, and am not using custom Bo2's, as I don't want to mess with finding the out-of-place objects and removing them manually.

Just looked up terraincontroll and it seem to take alot of time to set it up... :P might take a day off to learn about it

Use a private server or something.. its easy to set up

I have a vanilla server setup in my Networking class, but that's for school, plus I don't have Bukkit running. I could always try that, plus I could get free advertisement for Massivecraft. I think the best option other than a small Hamachi server, would be to just rent one. One thing I hate more than configuring plugin permissions, is dealing with server hosting companies. I could go back to the Stone Age of Minecraft with that, but I want to keep this forum at the least bit relevant. (See, I'm already off-topic)

Its easy to set up a private bukkit server, and you only need to make a permissions group for an admin ( you ) and then install the needed plugins..

i have skype, but i don't have hamachi since i hate it :S i already have a private bukkit server for myself but i could try configuring one for you

If we downgrade to Minecraft 1.4.2, then I can have it up with the snap of a finger, since I have the backup for the server saved on my file server. Now that I think about it, I don't think I had TerrainControl. I did have CreativeGates, and the Quiver/sheath plugin. I got into programming over the summer, and am currently taking over a Computer Science class at school. I used to be one of those "newbs" that spammed suggestions for SMP mods. I will catch up with you on the server. My Skype is TaxRevenue, I believe. My microphone has since busted, so I must go buy a new one. I will probably do that tomorrow, if I finish the map before noon. See you on the server. :)

Oki ^^ i am trying to recreate the castle ground structure in a flatland world btw, might be able to create a small version of it
