I know beast magic fixation is under work but before we start with the new we should fix the old, and by that I mean give an overdue fix up to lyre magic!

Specifically preservation lure magic, it shouldn't just work on positive emotions but all so to add more rp options

I always thought of preservation lyre as preservation chyrsalis, which I feel we need something like this as an rp feature. Maybe we could make one that puts you to sleep for several years and possibly even decades because I feel we need a way to shelve characters like this instead of destroying their body with alma magic

Imo preservation is supposed to be sort of a passive bard like thing- like. Buffs, in mmo terms. It isn't supposed to be able to inspire things like fear or sadness- that's what Sensation Hex does. If one could cast Sensation Hex from a distance without gestures, simply by playing a flute, no one would play Sensation Hex. Best of all- Sensation Hex is completely compatible with Lyre Magic, so one could learn Deafening/Dream lyre and Sensation Hex, which is what I'm guessing you're going for.

If lyre mages could use other emotions for parts of theirs songs and stories it would help

I would like to see some addons to Lyre magic abilities, as it is a little limited to "Sleep" or "Happy" at the moment. But, its most definitely not going to be high on the priority list since there are new magics that are yet to be written still if I remember.

Plus if it becomes too extensive its basically cheating hex magic.

why don't you just make them sad with your abilities as an artist instead of relying on magic like the rest of us common folk
actually I have been planning a major character development off of this for my therapist-philosopher yanar where he learns hex magic and gets dulofall where instead of helping people, he uses a lie of a sensation hex to make them feel better while expanding his ego by thinking that he is good at helping people when it is really just a fallacy.

Lyre magic is made to be, at least what it seems to be, a support-heavy magic. Their happiness isn't only boosted, but so is their confidence and pain resistance. This is actually extremely helpful among hunting groups, especially to help cancel out the dread and weakness caused by Zehler shrieks and Tresmisae roars that could break down a militia in moments of sounding off. The simple shriek might not seem bad, but considering that everyone suffers it at the exact same time means that there's already a huge threat of ranks breaking apart. It's already powerful enough to knock anyone out who dares to listen, which is an ability that no other magic can boast about. Properly covering your ears need a lot of pressure applied to fully cancel sound, which means your hands are unusable, your focus is on cancelling sound instead of fighting, and you are deaf to your environment. Those are huge weaknesses being made just to avoid falling asleep, if one doesn't harm the opposing mage in time. Mind magics also work brilliantly together, which could make you the best support / charisma character that's physically (or magically) possible. If you want a modification to a magic so one can get different emotional results, you probably don't need a lore change, but rather a character change or more involved effort.

ahh! replied to the wrong post!

Hey, thanks for the proposal! Unfortunately in this form the Lore Staff are not interested in a revamp of Lyre Magic. However, if you wish to write a more specific proposal you are free to do so, but nevertheless there is still no interest in the current lore being altered.
