Why
- Badly connected to the main lore, outdated in comparison to the new Altalar history
- Had a weird "yeah you can play them but you can never talk about your homeland and be mysterious vibe" which often just left players confused and not knowing how to frame their characters.
- Had an excessive "snow this snow that" vibe where snow and ice was too all over the place.
- There's tonnes of Isldar roaming around right now, and it made sense to prioritize this rewrite given the player support for the race right now.
- Rewrote the Introduction section to be more positive and try and sell the race, not downplay it.
- Expanded eye color palette from icy blue to baby blue, sky blue, gray, teal, turquoise and cyan.
- Removed their stupid height advantage over the Altalar, they are the same height now.
- Gave them a set of new Racial traits in Frisit's Weave.
- Cold resistance is still thing.
- Able to interpret Wyrm Tongue is still a thing, but the wording has changed to clarify application.
- Allowed Isldar to see the Soul Rivers and make them visible to others with song
- Allowed Isldar some limited personality interaction where they can uwu make predictions on people being born, what their personalities will be like and what's in store for their future by reading their Soul Essence during childbirth.
- Gave Isldar the ability to have an additional mechanic with Undead to turn them into not-undead Aysur. The lore for this has yet to be written, but it promises the implementation of sort-of-golems in lore.
- Isldar can summon a light glowing longbow of soul essence to fire soul essence arrows from in their hands, which is essentially their racial special.
- Made it so Isldar who are away from the Isldar Holds can actually do so without being spies, giving them a whole new "passover" niche where they go around the world to help souls move on and repair damage to the Soul Rivers of Aloria which only they can see, as well as additional tasks outside of the Holds which aren't automatically anti-Regalian or difficult to follow in Regalia. In general Isldar "out there" should be more comfortably "out there" and feel like they have a purpose whether they are loyal to Regalia or the Isldar Holds, and not be forced into a singular niche, making use of the Five Pillars of Isldar society.
- Removed some of the restraining mental characteristics which just made them frosty Altalar.
- Implemented the concept of Isl Zeal, a 5 stage gradient that dictates how loyal the Isldar are no longer just Loyal vs. Disloyal. Each stage has its own modification to the Frisit Weave abilities as well as some additional mechanics unique to each stage.
- Completely rewrote history to pull it in line with the rest of the lore of the Altalar in the recent revisions.
- Completely rewrote society to ditch the matriarchal concept and implement a communal five pillar super-connected society instead, basically like religiously sanctioned communism.
- Broke open the rigidness of politics but also implemented the concept of wavering authority, giving the Isldar a true sort of niche as independent minded and rebellious hearted individuals.
- Rewrote culture, giving them their own language and generally expanding it by giving them more day-to-day rp things to keep in mind when interacting with other races.
- Fleshed out more of their religion so it's less vague, while also giving them a topical issue to consider.
- Rewrote the Trivia which highlight some key important features about Isldar numbers, behavior and cultural notions.
- Isldar +10 Throwing proficiency was changed to +10 Heavy Bow Combat with an optional alternative for +10 Visual Arts.
- Probably consider getting Isldar character apps reviewed. The lore is pretty fundamentally different, ditching a lot of the old constraining concepts and allowing far more player freedom.
