House Uchiyama of Kusan

Overview
House Uchiyama is a blue blood Sihai/Ailor blended house originating in Beian, but established in Kriti in the Hellatian States in 48AC. Their founding of a university in the region marked a significant change, and academics have traveled from all around the Archipelago in order to attend, providing the family wealth in the form of tuition fees.
The family was ennobled in 264AC by the emperor for their service to academics.

Design
The Uchiyama family are mostly known for wearing their darker colors with the red accents typical of the family colors, with a few carefully chosen golden accessories. Their family Gamiun stamp is that of a Torii gate set amongst rolling hills, with the cliffs of their mountainous holding rising to either side. A pagoda stands in the center of the stamp, representing their university and great library in one, with the family name inscribed into the bottom. They are the result of a long-standing and successful merge of their native Sihai culture with the existing Aetosian Ailor in the region of Kriti that they emerged in, in the Hellatian States. They place a large and proud focus on scholarly studies and academic pursuits, even referring to the head of the family as the "Custodian" as a mark of respect.

Wealth
The initial upstart wealth of the Uchiyama family was brought with them from Beian when the Sihai ancestors arrived into the region, which was used to establish a comfortable holding amongst the mountains. This later blossomed into a student boarding village, in conjunction with a large and prestigious university that the family founded and constructed to serve students from all over the Regalian Archipelago. Their wealth is primarily now acquired through the tuition fees for said university and boarding village, which has grown over years to house several thousand people at any one time.

Takashi Uchiyama (@Platesy) | Takashi, or Taka as she is more commonly known, is the current matriarch and custodian of House Uchiyama, following her mother's recent passing. She is the eldest child, with two younger siblings. Having spent years traveling the Archipelago spending time in various libraries and universities, as well as mingling and interacting with a range of cultures and peoples, she stands in a uniquely suited position to lead the family.

Holdings & Estates
Uiji Castle

The ancestral home and established holding of House Uchiyama, Uiji castle has stood on the mountainside above the village for several hundred years, housing every generation of the family since it was built.

Kusan University

The beating heart of the Uchiyama's family legacy. Constructed over several decades beginning in the late 70sAC, Kusan University has become a beacon of academics in the region and abroad. Hosting the Uchiyama Grand Library within its walls as well, it holds texts and archives dating back hundreds of years.


Kusan Township

As both a student boarding village and a hub for neighboring regions, Kusan township has developed from a collection of close houses over many years into a sprawling township. A destination for travel, trade, and adventure, as well as hosting smaller libraries, bathhouses, and taverns, the township stands proud in a beautiful valley amongst the mountainous landscape.
