First of all, I would like to apologize if this thread is in the wrong location, I haven't used the system in some time, and I was unable to locate the feature suggestions, so here it is!

Resources are becoming scarce, nobody really sells minerals anymore, and a way to solve it, would be to bring back fishing, to its greatest!!

However, lets not make it a think where people can go on, and on 24/7. Why not have it with intervals, such as in 'Fishing Seasons.'

Fishing Seasons you say?
Well my vision is that fishing is enabled for, say, once a month. This is the one day of the month where you can fish all you want with it's full luxuries, but you better fish hard, as there won't be another day until next month.

Lets keep this short, I'm tired right now.

Pros: -
It would freshen up Massive's mineral resources.
It would allow people to plan the day they're going to fish, or if not, you could implement this feature on random days of the month.
It could add an aspect to raiding, such as raiding these fishermen while they fish, to gambuzal (not a word, I know) their plans.

Of course there are more Pros, but that is for you to decide, - now for the cons :)

Cons:-
Since this will be the once day where fishing is efficient, people who have a low level of fishing won't be able to benefit as much.
This feature will have to be toggled, and I'm unaware if this could be automated to do such ...
There will be a return in AFK-fishers.

Again, there are obviously more Cons, but honestly, you should see my eyes right now - super sleepy.

Now, with most of my friends, people say "Oh that won't work, blah blah."
- But this was just an idea, I sparked it up in general, and most people seemed to believe it was a good idea.
- Remember, this is just the beginning of an idea, it can easily be improved.

Feel free, to make your own comments..

Thank you.

Goes mining 2-3 times a week and sells literally arse-tonnes of the stuff in his rich shop...

I can insta-mine a stack of diamond blocks in close to half an hour with a god pickaxe and super breaker.

People with extremely high leveled fishing would most likely start bursting enchanted books, enchanted weapons, enchanted armor, blazerods, ghasttears, enderpearls and minerals into the economy which is already broken as most of us know. The prices of all the most expensive goods would fall drastically while all the high leveled fishers would earn a fortune by simply right clicking with a mouse.
Now @Mattium_ explain your disagree rating and why this is a good thing.

fishing is very slow these day's, also, maybe they could decrease the chance of fishing up enchantbooks/diamonds/watheveryouwant. so you can stil fish it up on a certain day of the month but it would still be pretty small chance or it to happen. would that solve a problem or two?

Whilst his information may be in-accurate in regards to low resources (especially with the new world) the idea isn't half bad and could probably successfully done with a bit of tweaking and time.
My only issue is, how would they enable fishing's benefits once a month?
seems like a lot of work for Moderators/admin's to do each month.

Anyway, otherwise good idea, (Y)

This only really benefits older players with a high fishing, of which I notice @ChrisVenom is actually one of. He would get large benefits out of this, regals and god armour to name a few, whereas those with low fishing would get almost nothing. For me, the cons much out way the pros.

How is that different to someone having a high mining, excavation or high combat skills?
All high stats end in a larger amounts of rewards, and PVP well outweighs all in my opinion. Wouldn't you classify yourself as a PVPer Terraria?

No, but they are balanced. Fishing, on the other hand, in the way suggested here is not balanced and would destroy the economy.

Sorry in what way does one day a month of fishing "destroy the economy"?
Also, as mentioned earlier, it could use some tweaking which could mean a decrease in the amount of rewards from fishing, but I think over-all it's a lot better then let's say... a PVP coming into a town, killing lots of people, and going home with all valuable equipment + the surrender terms if they surrender.

All you need is 30+ players with high fishing and in one day a change would be noticeable, and the economy is still not even close to what it should be as we see the effects of un-nerfed fishing even a year later.

Because from fishing one could attain normally unobtainable enchanted items, many, many valuable ingots and several double chests of enchanted books, all in the space of a few minutes. A high level of mining requires patience to get that many ores, and it could take many hours of darkrooming (or another method of gaining experience) to get anywhere near that amount of enchanted books and armour.

There is a reason fishing itself was heavily nerfed, and bringing this back would undo that. Just think, how many players have in excess of 1k fishing? The large amount of resources they would bring in would crash the economy even further. I'm sorry, but I cannot agree to this idea. Resources are easy enough to obtain with a little patience without having to rely on fishing again.

Furthermore;
I think over-all it's a lot better then let's say... a PVP coming into a town, killing lots of people, and going home with all valuable equipment + the surrender terms if they surrender.
This may not be favourable to some people, the items stay within the system, it doesn't bring new ones into it, which would just cause a crash. It keeps items at a value, and can even take out some of said diamonds when armour/weapons are salvaged

How about people can always fish like normal, but in fishing season, you might get more fish per catch? The number would gradually increase based on your McMMO fishing stat.

10 dollars for 1 hour of mcmmo fishing rebuffed. Make it just like the apple tree event, but we buff the bite chance and re enable treasures in a nerfed form.
Why the heck haven't you suggested this sooner! This is a great idea!
(although on a side note, fishing won't even have the same mcMMO mechanics as it used to have, the handling of mcMMO fishing is very different than it used to be, sadly)
