This is a little concept I'm toying with but probably won't go anywhere.
Chapter 1 The Maiar Mistake
Many, many, years ago, a group of maiar looked to the surface for food. A large colony of pescetarian maiar in southern solangeria had overpopulated. The fish supply had been running out in local areas and the colony had split in two. Many of the elders had split off and started eating herbs and shrubs. The younger generations, thinking that the plant eaters were growing weak, ate the fish to extinction.
The martyrs of the colony starved as the fish ran out. The most intelligent looked to the lands. They saw the herds and herds of livestock run by each day. Slowly migrating to the surface, the maiar began to rely on the livestock. The martyrs stayed at sea and due to their low numbers, kept a steady balance with the fish population.
Both the martyrs and the new land maiar, which had now grown shark-like, were thriving. The maiar built a small city upon the land. Several maiar had begun to grow specialized skills and economy was booming within the city. Some elven and even human ships had docked in the coastal city.
Export of meats and fish from the city grew. This angered the Martyrs still in the water.
A few months after the city was established as "Farzaha" by the members of the community, humans had begun settling there. The prosperity of this community was soon ended when the undead started rising from the ground. This took the entire city by surprise. Humans were murdered and Maiar fled to the sea. Many of the city's population died. This became a lifestyle for the community. The undead came in waves, which only arrived at night, so, the city would be very lively during the day, while near vacant during the night. A few humans stayed in the city during the night, but this grew more and more difficult.
Due to the increasingly large amount of Maiar in the sea, the fish population started to decrease. The Martyrs grew enraged and started wearing nose rings as to show their defiance from the rest of the maiar. Meanwhile, the fish started to heavily decrease.
The underwater plants started to grow more and more with less things to eat them, this caused the forgotten group of elder plant eaters to eat much more, allowing them to grow much larger and strip the land dry of its nutrients.
With a dead underground environment and a lacking livestock system on the surface. The Maiar were spending much more time on the surface. Martyrs remained in the water and most starved. Elders migrated to the land and, with their large population, started to severely diminish the plants on the surface.
This lack of vegetation caused livestock to starve and all groups in the city to grow hungry. Trade stopped with other areas, and citizens started to grow weak, famine spread like a wildfire.
The misery ended upon "The Night of the Great Evil" when the city all gathered around a home that had caught aflame and just watched, taking in the warmth. Unfortunately, this fire attracted a very large amount of undead and the city was raided mercilessly. Most of the city was killed while few got away with their lives, spreading the traditions of their groups and the memory of the once great city.
Chapter 2 The Undead Revivor
A city roaming with mindless zombies was left after "The Night of the Great Evil." The undead seemed to like it there. They feasted on livestock when it came by and started to grow their own undead civilization. An ancient Meriac noble of which was undead had come through the city once. He loved what he saw in the wonderful little town and grew up a civilized area. The Meriac's name was "Saphazar" and he placed himself as king of the city. The city grew large and strong, building on the ruins of the maiar buildings. The group started fishing industry and grew very strong and powerful, though growing a hatred for the living.
The undead started to develop farms and mines and even started to engineer different things. They developed different alloys and materials unheard of by the rest of aloria. Most of their engineering was devised of a system of levers and pulleys. They worked with gears and ropes. They also had a large chemist community. Many different materials were discovered from the experimentation of metals, crystals, and hides and wools from livestock. One man had even created a leather stronger than iron.
This great success was trampled with the arrival of a man by the name of "James Alderwood" This was a self proclaimed adventurer was this man. He claimed he had gotten assistance of the solangerians to lure a temple orphan out of its cage and capture it. He the looted the ruins and got large treasure. He recorded his journey and made this final stop until he returned to civilization to become a hero.
He had brought a wealth of treasure as a truce with the undead as to gain the trust of the undead. This would give him great riches by buying the fish and livestock from the undead and shipping them elsewhere.
He met Saphazar and became good friends with the man with the tribute of a large, golden crown. Saphazar decided that he would consider trade with the man and allow him to spend a few days there to restock his supplies for the journey home.
That night, the temple orphan had broken free. It almost instantly murdered James Alderwood and slowly ripped through the city.
Many of the people fled from the city as the temple orphan terrorized each and every family, slowly killing them all. A few lived to spread the tale but nobody listened to the undead.
After vanquishing the entire city, the temple orphan lit the town ablaze, grabbed all of the stolen gold, and fled off into the jungle. After the fire, nothing but the statue of Saphazar and the old maiar buildings had been left.
Chapter 3 Mekket Deceit
The Chrysant War gave use to the city. A current sped through the shores of Solangeria due to a growing wind in the south. This proved convenient for Allar soldiers looking to make swift passage to naval and land battlefields.
Allar soldiers trained in the streets every day. Nearby trees were chopped to make new ships. A mine was started to create new weapons and materials for soldiers. The colony was starting to heavily thrive and grow when a shipment of Mekket slaves had been shipped in from a different battleground.
The Allar soldiers were the first to name the city after the Maiar runes with the name "Farzaha" transferred to the name "Farzaway" in Zasta. The city had grown massive forts with large cannons capable of firing off any intruder from the seas. It was a shame that their enemies did not come from the seas.
A circci had broken one of their cages via an explosive chrysalis. He freed the rest of the circci and the circci used their chrysalis to take the city from the allar. They captured most of the maiar and a few escaped on an escape ship. Most of the fleet was burned to the ground after the circci raid.
The circci rule marked a new age of prosperity. The Undead records were uncovered and the circci were now using armor made of strong materials and using some of the most advanced weapons in aloria. Ha'kix prospered throughout the city. The circci build up a great military and defense system.
The circci also took advantage of the old Allar mines and created countless intricate tunnels under the city of which many different housing structures, Ha'kix clubs, and underground libraries and study centers. This city was a prime example of mekket culture at its greatest. The mekket had ordered vissi and other slaves to help run the city. Other mekket joined in with the fun.
The city did wonderful and even started to export trade and farm when a hadritya grew out of the side of the city like a parasite. The Circci were very against this and preferred to stay a united, mekket colony.
They knew of the mystical weaponry of magic that the Qadir had held and did not wish to go to war with them, this created a hostile atmosphere. Unlike the Circci, the Qadir had the ability to reproduce. As the Qadir empire grew, the hadritya grew and more of the city had been taken into Qadir territory.
The mekket were growing angry. They gathered their men in full suits of the best armor they had, all armed with Ebhulas and many years of training. Other circci, a select few, started to protest the anti-qadir ideals. They're leader, Tiktzi Zts, had proclaimed to be a direct ancestor of the Meriac statue which stood in the city with the name carved under it of "Saphazar." He thought that this made him leader and they should accept their new friends.
Tiktzi grew followers slowly and the Mekket were split. Meanwhile, the qadir grew and literally split the city in half. Enough Mekket banded together to attack the qadir but were easily crushed by the technology of the Qadir. Within months, most of the circci were sent into underground tunnels which they had dug.
The Qadir had taken control of "Farzaway."
Chapter 4 Trade Parade
The new Qadir city had very little choice but to open the harbors to trade. For, they had little food and their only defense against the undead was the circci militias and soul magic and they had little diversity in their food. This was aided by the still recovering ecosystems on land and in sea from the maiar long ago.
With the trade grew much population. The Allar military buildings now were hotels, apartments, and banks. The maiar ruins and allar battlegrounds, along with the meriac statue, all remained, for the influx of humans in the city had not developed a military and, they feared the qadir and circci would retaliate if their landmarks got destroyed.
The Humans slowly and slowly grew more and more. Many years past with the qadir "technically" in control, while the humans started to run more and more of the city. Farzaway was starting to look like a human town in just a couple of years. Circci started becoming more and more scarce and the Hadritya shrunk. Humans started controlling the banks. All sorts of different cultures started coming into the city. The people that lived there before were too afraid to retaliate which may cause war with the humans, which could easily wipe the small city out.
Today
Today, Farzaway acts as a small trading city with a over-average circci population, a hadritya, allar and maiar roots, and a meriac statue. Most people don't know much of the past of the city or anything about its odd ruins. Nobody knows why there is a statue of a weird looking person right in the middle of the city. Most people don't even know why there is still a bunch of allar warships in the harbor, or why some buildings have maiar drawings of serpents and fish upon them. The city remains an average city with almost mimics the outskirts of regalia.
