Everyone When A Noob Uses Lore Wrong

I'm actually slightly disappointed in the Role-play community.
Is it necessary that every time someone on the server does something slightly irritating that a thread is made to humiliate them?
Do we not wish to live as civilized and socially responsible human being? I could of swore that everyone has at least once felt bad that they have been humiliate on something they just couldn't quite understand or do & you're doing the same to them.
My father's favourite quote is "Two wrongs, don't make a right", and in this case, just because someone humiliates you or abuses you on something, doesn't mean you should do that to others. Stop the chain!

We range a diversity of people on this server.
I've encountered people with disabilities known as "dyslexia" and people that simply couldn't put complex sentence structures today, and even 13 year olds that are on here just to have a look around, see what's to offer.
Are you really so up-righteous that you need to point out their inabilities, or do you expect everyone to have a good education, mature learning capacity, and fit your criteria of respect?

I'm not saying I don't find them, or anyone irritating, of course I do! But I don't think it's necessary for a community that KNOWS how much time and effort it takes to understand the world of MassiveCraft, to be judging others because they aren't at your stage of learning it.
You don't see the lore staff sitting back abusing and humiliating you because they understand more about the Server then you do, do you?
They are there to help, and so should you be.
And if you've tried and had enough, or don't think it's your responsibility too, then by all means don't bother, however instead of acting all high and mighty then them just because you have more expertise in a subject then others, let it be, and just ignore them, or remove your self from the situation.

It basically all comes down to this, at least how I see it, they have JUST as much RIGHT to be HERE as YOU do!

im not complaining about that, just people who deliberately god rp like saying "stabs him through the heart so he dies" and stuff like that before you can even have a chance to react. i agree though, i myself have some mild difficulties and at first i was the same on the lore front

All of you honestly sicken me.

EDIT: Let me rephrase before a crapstorm starts erupting.

I am completely disappointed by all of you. If I were to pull up the logs and search up every name upon this thread, I would wager that very few of you have actually tried to help people improve their roleplay. I've seen it on the street; your feeble attempts at 'helping' them is a heartless ((Read the lore, noob)), before ignoring them completely.

While these 'noobs' are very irritating on their own, they aren't going to improve if you make a /public humiliation thread/ on the official forums. This sort of crap shouldn't be tolerated, as it's mindless hate-mongering. Why not take the effort to introduce the lore in a friendly and inviting way, rather than expending it by searching up stupid, tastless GIFs to post on this thread?

We all started /there/. These 'noobs' deserve to be treated with far more respect than the lot of you are giving here. Today, they learn. Tomorrow, they may go on to teach.

Immersion is a fragile tie between reality and fantasy. A misguided fool might break that tie and thus cause some of those who lost their fantasy to react similar to a child whose favorite toy was taken away. Understandable, yet inexcusable.

I like suddenly turning god-rp into a tutoring session. So far there /are/ people who are willing to learn and I had success with them. You guys can try, it's pretty fun teaching people how to rp.

I just wanted to say I even made a thread for helping noobs (mostly people that wanted to RP as a vampire because they used to get the most hate)
Here it is http://forums.massivecraft.com/threads/bad-roleplay-experiences.16119/

In this situation, you are precisely correct. I do a very good job of somehow never meeting these noobs. Thus, I cannot help them give up their evil ways.

๖ۣۜI will state, I certainly have helped out a couple of people who need help with the lore. I haven't honestly been around as much recently to see as many people doing things such as ignoring lore, or perhaps I just wasn't paying enough attention, however I am still not exactly being friendly as to be inviting the thread as you mention. Either way, you bring a good and morally good point. Sorry.

So let me get this straight... everytime a noob uses lore wrong, I turn into an anime school girl and use my hair as weapons?
...I like this.

Ehm. This isn't always the case. Some of these threads were made to /help/ people. Then others came and ruined it. I'm not saying it's okay, but the way you put makes it sound that's it's always meant out of spite. Sure, this thread was rather stupid, and maybe not the best thing to make. But was it truly created to offend people and make fun of them? I don't think so. It's purpose was to goof around, and to be silly.

No offense to anyone attempting out of the goodness of their heart to help these people.

However as suggested, most of the time, there attempt is shallow, pathetic or even false.
People aren't interested in putting the proper effort into helping these people out, and prefer to just say "I tried" after a few minor attempts.
As for thread such as this, can you really say "goofing around" or being "silly" is a worthy exchange for humiliating or even offending someone?
Do you remember those "ya mum jokes" that just aren't funny to people with a good sense of humor?
This is like that.
In no shape, form, or on any level is it okay to make a JOKE at the sacrifice of someone else state of mind.

The fact is, with things like this, you either put the effort into help them or shut up. It is not your place to tell them they are good or bad at Role-play, or judge them, and it is not anyone's place to make a mockery of them. They shouldn't, quite frankly, even bother you... and besides... you have a /ignore command for a reason.

I completely agree with this.
No one here was suddenly gifted with a act for role-play, it's a skilled based activity, which means you need to learn it.
Some people are just not up to your standards yet, but I bet, at least a few of them in a few months will look back and laugh at you guys calling them "god role-players" or "noobs". I can definitely laugh at a few people who thought badly of me in my first few months.

๖ۣۜGuys, arguing on this thread isn't benefiting anyone anymore... Sure, @Mattium_ brings up a good point, but we aren't being useful or morally strong if we sit here and argue. In the time of seeing this thread have arguments, I managed to help convince a new player to stay on the server, hang out, join the forums, and even try and seek a nice little niche or place he'll fit right in. Not long after I helped him about, he was ready to take on giants. Er, mentally, not physically, but he rushed into Wilderness with some form of determination to finding something badass. Not just because of this thread, but I sincerely thought I should, after all, the guy seemed pretty cool. And he was trying to sell me a lever, he actually had a good sense of humour in trying to do it. You never know, guys; The guy you're spinning your hair to might actually end up becoming someone such as Mattium, or even Luthein. Or you might find a brilliant buddy to join your faction! (That was how I originally began to start Okotaoi, until I ended up going inactive... But still!). To prevent myself from being a hypocrite; I'm gonna stop responding if someone quotes me here to just argue more. Agree, I might come back, idk. I might as well, fifty bucks says half of you are tired of me anyways. XD

Right, right, I hear ya. But do you truly think this thread was made to insult or offend those new roleplayers? Or do you think it was more or less a stupid and horrid excuse to put a bunch of random gifs together? I think who ever created the thread wasn't thinking this through, and thought everyone would think it's funny. Not saying it's right, but people make mistakes. We're only human.

Me: Hey can you take away the wings? Vampires don't have wings
Other person: But I am a Vampire Master
Me: There are no Vampire Masters in MassiveCraft. Read the lore. Now can you please take away the wings.
Other person: No.
Me: I am going to report you if you don't.
Other person: What for being a Vampire Master? Lets see how that goes.
Me: *Reports*
Other person: *Gets Jailed*
Me: Now will you read the lore?
Other person: Yeah.. It VERY interesting.
Me: :D Well duh its MassiveCraft Lore.

Just putting it out there, we practically give lessons on how to RP in Myrkvior.
and If you ever see me, I'm constantly trying to help, and I'm still learning myself.

This thread was a joke, not to be taken literally.

That's honestly not exactly helping, the other person might hold a grudge, ect ect.

I sadly don't have as much faith in people.
I think that, seeing as we are all human beings capable of thinking and understanding, that it's not a good enough excuse to say that they just didn't "think" about it.
I think the person who made this thread, and everyone who commented, as well as other threads made, intentionally do so. I think they are aware how people will react, it doesn't take a Einstein to understand that, and it doesn't take a Einstein to understand what will offend someone.
My father always said "if you can't say something nice, don't say it at all" and while I'm not always agreeing on this, I do believe there is a time and place for things, and to publicly announce things like this for the sake of a laugh or whatever they get memorability out of this, is poorly thought and otherwise disappointing.

Well, not everyone thinks like you do, some of us are not very smart at all. (No offense to any of ya'll) I'm still pretty much the whole intent of this thread was to put gifs everywhere. I still heavily believe people were doing this to be stupid and to have fun. They obviously didn't think it through...I didn't think it would offend anyone, if anything, I thought all the gifs were hilarious. It reminds of us of how we all one were (Because I doubt any of you were perfect roleplayers when you first joined) , and we laugh over good time. In reality, we're offending ourselves.

When someone god rp's

I can't believe people are still posting things like that, after all the points made about it offending people....

well it was ment to help them. in the end it became something different that's true
Wow... That is so pathetic!!!!
That was the second post in her thread after creating it. Nothing else. Just this.
but I would like an idea of how many people you have seen that are actually bad at role playing, so I know what I am getting myself into. :D thanks for reading all this crap. Please vote in the poll so I can hear the bad experiences, and work to fix them! :)
Raven had also stated this and the thread continued on. It wasn't a guide, or anything, just a way to see what type of Bad roleplay was out there.
People laughed at those people, others laughed at one another, and that became the point of the thread. Intentions are of no value when the "Deed" is done.

I tried doing a sort of role play "school" in Regalia, and it actually turned out pretty well, the problem was we ran out of desks for people to sit at. But, I agree with the people saying that this is a hate thread, because joke or not, it's pretty much what it is/turned out to become. I think the problem with trying to tell people that they should follow the lore, is that some are /very/ willing to listen and learn about it whereas a majority of others frequently know the lore yet choose not to follow it after many people telling them "This isn't lore compliant, you cannot role play as this". Thats why people give up on the new role players and just simply ignore them.

Now, this has been a storm of people pointing fingers at other people, blaming them for hurting people's feelings. How do you think the people you are blaming all this on feel? I may be wrong by saying this, but everyone here has probably helped at least ONE noob out of their time on massive. (If you have not, you really should because it makes you [well, me] feel like a good person in a way, every time)

Are you really any better than the people that "laugh at" noobs if you point out everything they said that might have been offensive or not constructive? No. (Realize I am not talking to everyone, just the people who do this)
Hey, I VERY RARELY take offense to anything, so when I say something others might call "degrading, offensive, rude" things of the sort, I may not realize it could be taken that way. I guess people are more sensitive than me and I say harsh things sometimes, but I would never intend to deliberately insult someone else, or make them feel bad in any way. That is flat out ridiculous and accomplishes nothing. On that note, I will apologize now if I injured someone's feelings or something along the lines of that. Sorry, I can come across as heartless at times, also.

As I've previously stated, I don't doubt people make these threads and comment to "have fun", I agree that's why they do it. That's my problem, that not only do they think humaliating someone or offending someone is fun, but they think making jokes at the sacrifice of someone else's well-being is fine. I DO have a problem with that.
And no, I'm sorry but that was not the attempt. There's a clear distinction between having a joke about your past times as a noob, and spitefully offending others for your own laughter or the laughter of a few others.
I wouldn't of had a problem if people were talking about their times as a noob.

What I noticed is a lack of this

Well, if you have a problem with this thread, why do you keep getting involved with it? Some people might become offended by what you're saying, the very same thing you're complaining about.

Becuse, by making it clear that some people have a problem with this sort of behavior, allows people to re-think there's.
I actually don't mind if people get offended by what I'm saying, because those people that COULD be getting offended are more then likely the people don't harm to others. Maybe, from this they will learn what's appropriate.

Did you ever stop to think of how much flame you would cause...? People's feelings are important no matter what, and offending others because /you're/ offended doesn't help at all.
