Archived Disabling Of Diamond Weapons And Armour.

Get ready for the salt.
So just a quick poll who actually would like to see diamond armour and weapons disabled. (You can still use picks and shovels ect)

When you're dealing with the issue of power balances, where common equipment is too good, instead of removing something (which has the negative connotation of, well, removing something that people worked for), its sometimes better to ADD a tier above rather than removing the current top tier. If the next tier up is well thought out and planned, it can be made rarer and easier to expend that the previous tier and makes flow faster.


I would recommend adding reasons as to, why Diamond Armor/Weapons should be nerfed though (full removal is too dramatic and causes issues with storage so the only feasible way to go about it would be a retroactive nerf with a plugin) instead of tossing the question out there with no context.
 
What about each piece of diamond armor had to be combined with 8 others (block of diamond pattern). So it takes 9 full sets to make some super armor that's better than diamond. Idk sounds kind of cool and fixes inflation

Diamonds, and diamond armor, even God Sets, are so common that it would only mitigate the issue. I think a better... balancing act of sorts, would be some rare material you have to craft with MassiveMagic. Gives an incentive to dive into it, maybe it requires a ritual with a spell to activate. And it would need to use a somewhat uncommon mob drop. Something custom made for it, like, a theoretical "Essence Core". Ritual, plus item, plus spell to activate, gives material. Material is used to make good armor. Good armor has high stats but lowered durability, and Unbreaking cant be added to it, to prevent cheesing the system.

It would need a weakness as well, something preferably also tied to MassiveMagic to make the connection stronger. Depending on the weakness the mob drop would need to be more common to compensate. Maybe the armor doesnt take durability damage from fire related spells, but they do more direct damage. Something along those lines.

Im just spitballing theoretical stuff, this is assuming theres even a good reason to add a new tier.

I could pitch one as: Armor and weapons have little value due to their abundance. But equal footing with equipment hasnt hindered other Factions Server. Generic Cow-Run Server's end-game raid-battles were usually determined by who had the MOST of an equipment. They have easily three or more times our player count for the PVP community though, so their battles were huge and armor broke faster. On here, fights will be small scale, no more than ten people at once from what I have heard at least.

Not delete but disable their use. You know how a while back only prems could wear diamond armour? Something like that but no one can equip or use it. Maybe make it so only gold gear (or chainmail) can be enchanted and have enchanted books applied on them

Its still the same issue of taking the item away. If they worked for it even a little, or heck even if they didnt, if someone feels something is theirs, no matter how worthless, they dont like having it taken away. This extends to the ability to use it. The armor essentially becomes a 'trophy' and it isnt even that properly because its so common.

What about armor that is powered by other sets. So you can take the armor and combine it with your power suit. Kind of like battery's. However, we do have an excess of gear. We can do both the massive magic thing and the armor which degrades our supply and also creates a rare material we need as well. Better, how about the armor protects twice as well but has half durability, so must be charged often. Idk exact numbers but...

Basic: Add rechargeable armor that is charged by the armor we have now
 
But why do we need to remove it? PvP is actually as balanced as it has been in ages, aside from the damage being a little high..
 
one thing they could do to "balance" the economy would be to lose armour on death, but now the enemy has more armour, theyll fix it and i mean...even that would take a long time to re balance. so i mean 75r-100r a peice is a decent price. just a week of packisle and you get your own set. just a 2 days of voting you get your own set.
