Crafter's Video

Ok now its my turn to come in here (because I know what happened and the people that are involved.) A couple of my friends were playing on massive and we were enjoying our selves making our own faction. Then dan7933 (the person who made the video) got banned. We were all frustrated because we all thought that he should have not been banned. So when dan7933 did get banned he of course he got mad because we were all still playing on massive and having a good time doing so. Dan7933 made a video because of his frustration and because he enjoys making videos. When the video was made he had no plans to post it, he even wanted to keep it private for this reason. We all thought the video was funny and agreed not to upload it. A year later ironhippo finds a video in his folder and he opened it out of curiosity. He told us that he found the video and we all watched it again, we all laugh and still thought it was funny. Then ironhippo post it, he knows it would get lots of comments but he did it anyways. The ban in the video does not direct to ironhippo but dan7933 who later after 5 ban repeals was allowed to go back on to massive. This video was never meant to be uploaded and we are sorry if it did offend you (which it really shouldn't)

Why do I feel like that's what everyone says when they wear out, just saying. Yes, I do know how bad it is to manage a community, with the rules set upon us from society, I've been cursed to organize various groups, social circles, etc. The worst part however, they aren't online, which makes it more petrifying than you think.

My constructive criticism was to stop rebuilding Regalia every few months, work on spreading rp to all continents rather than to make Regalia the only place meant for RP, and to allow player input on having players banned, especially well known players.

Since you claim to have read it quite clearly, I'll numb it down, once again. I was banned after standing up for myself against Tom1804. Ever heard those stories where the kid is getting bullied, the kid fights back and gets in trouble, while the bully gets off Scott free, this is one of those stories.

You're right, MassiveCraft isn't falling apart, it's just being inhabited by horrible role players while the good classic players are either leaving or becoming inactive due to the lack of interest the new community is bringing, so, yeah seems fine to me. Seems to me so.
You like to say it's falling apart yet you are banned. Your opinion is invalid.
If players were to have input on bans, decisions would not be reached as effectively .
I happen to know the Moderator who you are talking about, and even though I was not present, I strongly oppose that what you said was all that happened. Tom, while sometimes being a bit odd at times [Eh. EH. Don't hurt me Tom]
is a just mod. I think your words might have contained something that triggered the onset of the taunting. I happen to be one of the newer players, only have joined 8 months ago, compared to the 1/2 years of some others, and to be honest, some of the new Roleplayers are good, maybe not as good as the original, but the classic aren't the best. Sorry guys, it's true. And rebuilding Regalia every few months is nice. They get closer and closer to getting if to their view of perfection.

At least you apologized.
And yes, it should offend us. It mocks the server, and as @Toxiclord pointed out, it said it was "Bad for your lungs".
How is that not offensive? Next time, keep the video to yourself.

Hello again! I must say some more things!

  • By the way, about your constructive criticism, Massivecraft is a roleplaying and PvP server, not just roleplay. There are people who do not wish to roleplay at all, so they tend to stick to the survival worlds. If the survival worlds need some more roleplaying aspects to it, there are plenty of roleplay factions.
  • I understand your desire to allow player input on having players banned, however it is not allowed for a number of very good reasons, one of them being to prevent flame. It is a very controversial topic to discuss, and while there are people who are capable of keeping the discussion to a polite level, there are others who cannot.
  • I understand you wanting to fight back. I really do. It /is/ natural. However, regardless of whether or not the person you are fighting back is a staff or not, or even in everyday life, it is still an unwise thing to do. By retaliating, you are just showing that you are like the instigator. If you want to seem more powerful, and less like you are hurt, don't act hurt. My suggestion in this context is to not even respond.
  • Perhaps you should not be battling the server. By saying bad things about MassiveCraft will only cause more flame, as I am a somewhat new part of the community. Am I a horrible roleplayer? Perhaps, but you shouldn't be the one to judge the many, and I mean /many/ excellent members of the community who are not necessarily veterans to the server.
I do wish to ask you something, though. You do not have to respond, but you should think about it. What exactly was your goal when you posted this thread? What about it seemed productive? Think about the facts, here. You might be angry at the server, and your friend might be angry at the server. Okay. But fighting it isn't going to solve everything. Even if you do feel good about it, I promise you. It won't last.

I understand you trying to advocate for yourself, as well as the other players who you feel have been unrightfully banned. It's good to advocate for yourself. But it's not good to do that in this way, and it is certainly not an effective method.

This seems familiar somehow. I wonder why.

*Cough*

Anyways, while I don't support him posting this video, I don't see why everyone is reacting like this. He intended humor, and a few people got a good laugh out of it. Let's end it there.

What a lovely thread to wake up to.

Well, let's take this step by step.

Uno:
I actually enjoyed the beginning of the video to some extent. When I began watching it my first thought was "Oh man, some dedicated player took his time to create, edit, and upload a creative video about their experience on MassiveCraft." It genuinely made me smile, it really did. But then it developed further and I had to turn that smile into a laugh. The second that ban message appeared I knew the true intent of this video and by gosh did it not prove me wrong. See the thing here is that you're attempting to showcase a side of the story which has become warped by anger and obvious hatred. You were both banned from the server for perfect reasons and in Dan7833's case, he was able to appeal after a sufficient amount of time and was allowed back onto our server. In your case however, it seems that maybe any future appeal of yours will be intensely examined and maybe not even considered.

Dos:
Scrolling down a bit on the first page and we see your rant about MonMarty and myself (Tom1804), and a small snippet about your own ban and OctoberGwen's also. I'd like to start off by saying you have, and I do mean this, no clue whatsoever about the situation concerning OctoberGwen's ban, barely anyone does. And in fact, those that do know will tell you that in the end, the acts which got her banned had nothing to do with me in the slightest, I played no part. I did not vote, I did not comment, and OctoberGwen was banned by Thortuna after a collective vote for acts which concerned the server and it's staff, not me.

Moving on to your ban, did you know I was not the one who banned you? Funny ol' world, yes. I remember the situation relatively well actually. You were making very poor judgment and somewhat aggressive comments about Regalia and it's progression in General chat several times. I and other staff repeatedly asked you to stop and take your complaints or suggestions to the forums yet you continued. I did indeed say "Are you still talking?" Because I was fascinated at how you continued, over and over again after warnings and suggestions from the Servers staff. After this, you proceeded to insult myself and flame even more-so, leading to an alternative staff member, acting off of their own accord, banning you.

Tres:
Oh @suzzie2 dear I am weird, thank you. Returning to topic. @ironhippo, what you seem to keep ignoring is that Dan was using Nodus. Not only was his actions and abilities in game ultimate proof of this, but you even admitted so here yourself. He had the client installed but wasn't using it? Well, that's incorrect. If he had the client installed then he most certain was using it, no one installs Nodus for the intention of 'optimising' their gameplay, unless you mean in terms of taking advantages of the abilities Nodus gives you. Optifine and other mods which help optimise your computers framerates were available at this time so no excuse can be given for his ban, really. The ban was justified, we do not ban players for no reason. Even if a staff member dislikes a player, and wishes nothing more to be rid of them, we do not ban them, that is something we are 110% against. We will never ban someone for no reason, it goes against the Staff Codex, and the morals of the MassiveCraft Staff. People who break the rules get punished, IronHippo, that is the point of the rules. If you break those rules, you will find yourself in trouble, be it severe or not.

Cuatro:
I'm going to be totally honest with you...
"I was banned after standing up for myself against Tom1804. Ever heard those stories where the kid is getting bullied, the kid fights back and gets in trouble, while the bully gets off Scott free, this is one of those stories."
Lol? No, kid, no. This situation is where a child is slandering against their teacher and calling the school and it's education terrible and useless, without offering any alternative. On MassiveCraft we welcome any and all feedback, good or bad. It helps us refine the server and it's staff more and become the server that everyone enjoys. However, offering vague and actually somewhat insulting 'suggestions' in general chat, ignoring staff whilst flaming your topics in general chat. A good suggestion, one which I'm sure everyone can agree on has several key factors. 1) The suggestion points out a flaw. 2) The suggestion points out repercussions for this flaw. 3) An alternative is given to replace the flaw. 4) A suggestion detailing what can be added, or how to go about solving the flaw.

Pointing out something is wrong is fine, pointing it out, screaming, flaming and being rude about it is not. Suggestions are made to assist the Staff in learning what is wrong, and how to fix it. If I speak with Cayorion, and shout "THIS IS BAD" or "THIS ISN'T WORKING", how is he to know what I am referencing? If I speak with Cayorion, and instead speak calmly and state "Cayorion, this feature has *points out flaw*, and I've done some research and have an idea on how to solve it. We *points out a way to solve and/or make it better*." That is how suggestions work, what you were doing is called Flaming.

And the 'bully' gets off scott free? Hell yeah I did. I did nothing wrong. I did my job and followed my criteria and codex. You, in this case, are the aggressor, not me, not MonMarty and most certainly not MassiveCraft or the remainder of it's staff.

Cinco:
"Allow players input on players bans". To put it simply, no. If a player breaks a rule, they will suffer the consequences. The players on the server to have fun and enjoy what the server has to offer, whilst abiding by a few rules in the process. Just because a player is well known does not mean that they can get away with the rules. MassiveCraft does not take this aspect from real life, where Celebrities are able to bypass certain laws due to fame. On MassiveCraft, everyone is equal, even the staff. We have to abide by these rules too, in fact we have even more rules to abide by.

Seis:
And finally, to wrap things up. I'm sorry that you felt that your ban was unfair, but posting this video is the incorrect way to go about getting yourself unbanned. Suggestions can be made on the section labelled Feature and Idea Discussion on the forums and I apologise if you feel in any way 'bullied' by myself or the MassiveCraft Staff, however that is not the case. If you do indeed feel that MassiveCraft is falling apart, then you are welcome at any time to vacate the server and it's forums, none of us will try and hold you back.

I hope you have enjoyed the controversy that this thread had spewed and I hope that this reply will leave you answered in certain areas. I ask, however, that if you do have any questions or replies, to send me a message on the forums instead of replying here.

And I also ask that a staff member uninvolved in this case and myself to lock this thread at their earliest convenience. @_Omnomivore_
