The Character Death Rules have been a hallmark feature of Massive's Roleplay Experience - to respect the decision of life and death of other people's characters. That being said, Kill Perms as they are called, are also often a point of contention among the players as they are frequently hidden behind to engage in harmful behavior from one character to another, which sometimes even bleeds out into OOC salt. Death Rules as such also apply some standard of fairness to curb the most excesses of unwanted behavior. We have made a new update to the Death Rules today to cover some new behavior witnessed in the slums and in gang rp in general, but also to improve the wording on the sections for the sake of clarity. Before we go further however it is important to be aware that these rules are not retroactively active. You cannot for whatever reason decide that you have the Surrendered Consent of a character over something that happened before today and the publication of this document. The amended rules only apply from here-on out, because players must always be aware of the consequences of their IC actions, and the weight of the outcome.

General changes summarized:
  • Contra behavior can now result in kill perms being given. Good examples of this are ratting out gangs, acting against someone's life ambition, and generally sabotaging organizations or groups.
  • Accidental harmful behavior such as neglect or ignorance that leads to serious character harm could also be used to Surrender Consent.
  • Guard Perms have been re-clarified and specified to fit the current Regalian Laws.
  • Failed attempts at killing or maiming now also surrender Consent.
  • Consent (either given, taken, or surrendered) now has a specified time frame associated to enforce that kill perms cannot be "saved" for months, and then cashed in later.
All specifics are detailed on the page. Please consider reading it!
