I will keep this short and simple for efficency: An unfortunate amount of citizens have little knowledge on how to apply for, maintain and properly keep an armaments permit. This is not a fault of them, but rather, a fault of little public communication.

Everything from what a permit is to how to acquire them will be posted here.​

This is the format all permits shall take. Any papers not in this format are NOT official Armament Permits and should be turned into the Guardforce.

Armor Permits operate slightly differently from Weapon permits, in that there are multiple types.
These are:

- Lesser Permits A: Gauntlets and Chestpiece
- Lesser Permits B: Helmet, Gauntlet and Armpiece
- Lesser Permits C: Shoulderplates, Gauntlets and Sabatons
- Half Armor Permit: Slightly more freeform, although joints and neck MUST be exposed.
- Full Armor Permit: Extremely freeform, with no limits on armor, although such permits are very rarely granted.
DECORATIVE ARMOR: This is legal and does not require registration to wear. Decorative Armor is defined as: only shoulder-pieces, only forearm bracers, or only a helmet (never only a chest-piece), or having been made of a material that offers no greater protection than cloth. This includes Gambeson.

The process of registering for an armor or weapons permit is the same, and relatively simple.

1 - Locate the Armaments Officer or representatives (currently only Erwin Braunschweiger). I can often be found at Greygate, the Beerhall, and the Crookback Checkpoint.

1 (b) - If location is not possible, or if I am not available, pen for Hauptmann Braunschweiger at the von Drachenburg Estate, or for a Mr. Braunschweiger at Lion Court 13 (Newtown) (/mail BeetrootSalad or DM @beetroot#2023 on Discord).

2 - Request meeting. It will either happen on the spot or a time will be reserved.

3 - Prepare. I will ask for:
- A sensible reason for your registration. Self-Defense is a perfectly acceptable reason and can be accepted on its own, but reasons such as Hunting/Sport, Training, Employment, Religious/Cultural and Heirloom have been accepted previously as well.
- Your full name.
- Your criminal record and any outstanding warrants (can be given verbatim).
- (In the case of Weapon Permits) What weapons you wish to register.
- (In the case of Armor Permits) What type of permit you wish to apply for.
- If you are bringing the weapons/armor you want registered with you, please shealth or bag them. Do not wear armor to the Registration meeting.
4 - Wait. I will either give you one on the spot, redirect you to a more appropiate ministry, give you one later with reasoning/a condition or deny you with reasoning.

4 (b) - Many (certain types of) Nobles, House Guards, Knights, Mercenaries and other niche cases (magical summoning of weapons, for example) mistakenly apply for a permit when they do not need one or need to get one somewhere else. If this is the case for you, I will redirect you to the appropiate ministry with tips and that process instead.

4 (c) - In the case that your permit is conditional, follow the case-by-case basis. This has ranged from things like a simple spar (to prove competency) to temporary permits (in lieu of illegal bounties or domestic affairs).

4 (d) - If you are outright refused, little can be done at that point. Perhaps consider becoming a better person.

5 - Your name and permit type will be recorded and stored to a database in Greygate.​

There are many factors to consider, given the potential dangers of giving wrongdoers weapons. These factors include:
- Aberrancy/Occultism/Wholliness/Afflication Status, and previous Statuses (It is possible to be a former aberrant and successfully register. Some aberrants will also be granted exceptions. It is always best to ask.)
- Reputation
- Criminal Record (It is possible to be a former criminal and successfully register.)
- Governmental Employment
- Employment
- Veteran Status
- Competency
- Reasoning
- Displayed Sanity​

- RECHTSHELM: This is the only weapon that is legal for all to bear, without permit, in the city. It "is a stiletto that can easily be hidden on the body, and can never be longer than 10 inches." It must be concealed at all times.

- CROSSBOWS:
The registration process will be slightly more taxing and requires at least one voucher from any reputable person in the city.

- PURETEK: Please pen in advance and prepare for multiple meetings/discussions. This process will be longer and feature a few more loops.

- MERCENARIES: Although Mercenaries are permitted armor and weapons (depending on their status), do keep in mind that you may only wear/wield WHILST ACTIVELY ON CONTRACT. I have arrested too many mercenaries who were without their papers, off-duty and fooling about in armor. Continued misuse of Mercenary Permits will result in contact with the Mercenary Officers.

- MAGICAL/SUMMONED WEAPONRY:
The Occult Minister is Ashvarya Sylfina. Do not contact me. Do not come near me.

- SONGASKIAN DRAGON SCALING: I cannot regulate skin. You will not be charged for the possession of your own body.

- CLOCKWORK, STEAMTECH: Harsher regulations, but it is possible. Nonviolent Clockwork/Steamtek creations are not weapons and do not need to be registered.

- MAGITECH: See Magical and Summoned Weaponry.

- HALLOWTECH, KLOKKTECH: Harsher regulations depending on registee. If it belongs to you (you know who you are), almost guaranteed registration. Nonviolent creations need not be registered.

- CRYSTALTECH, JADETECH, ZISHA CLAY, BIDRIQ TECH:
I do not know what this is. The secretary simply planted these words on my desk. If you wish to register anything that's whatever this is, speak to me and possibly the Equality Minister. Nonviolent creations need not be registered.

- BLUNTED WEAPONS: Blunted blades, knives, scimitars and some axes are perfectly legal and used for sparring. They do not need to be registered. However, if you try to claim that your maces, whips, polearms, arrows, bullets, flails and whatnot are simply 'blunted', expect a lengthy jail sentence. If you do not know if your blunt weapon is acceptable, read below.

- I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS A WEAPON OR NOT: If you have to ask, it probably is. Merely ask or pen a letter.

- OTHER: Always come speak to me if you do not know. Pen or meeting.​

The formats has been posted so that those who wish to create counterfeit permits have an easier time. Previously, I encouraged this kind of roleplay to involve the theft of an actual permit to copy off of, but that process is showing to be tedious.

If you ICly find a permit that follows the format, features the right fraud proficiencies but is not signed by me, please do not metagame; there is no difference between that permit and a legitimate one.

I am often available at every timezone on the weekends, but I am also often lazy. Ping me repeatedly on Discord if I forget or ignore you (I probably looked at my phone and fell back asleep).

There are several OOC/unlisted factors to registration, such as your CRP reputation/roleplay etiquette, your character's race/class/accent/gender (Sorry Scott) and the amount of permits already in circulation. If you have an OOC greviance for your denial, DM me over Discord.

Do not be afraid to post questions, (public) letters or reactions in the thread.​

3/12/310 UPDATE:

- ON THE TOPIC OF ALCHEMY: Alchemy is not a weapon, unless it is specifically made to be harmful or used in an offensive matter. A more niche example would be this: if you are carrying a cure for something, and it just so happens to be volatile (and you use it on somebody in an unexpected scenario), it will NOT be considered an illegal weapon because its original purpose was not meant to be weaponized. This sounds very convoluted, so please send me a letter or just meet with me if you are worried about your particular case.

- ON THE TOPIC OF FORGES: A new ministry has been made to regulate the selling of weaponry under the old tenure of former Lord-Chancellor di Acoissia. Forgive me for the severe delay, but all forge permits have been revoked; see the Commerce Minister if you would like to run a forge. The Charging Ram is already cleared.

- Katanas, Scimitars and other foreign, bladed and long weapons will be categorized under 'swords'. Khoptars will remain as their own category.

- The Armaments log has been fully updated. Looking through the statistics, today marks the 725th day/2nd year of my tenure and the 1584 hours/66 days of work. There have been 108 approved permits distributed and about twice as many meetings had. It is good to work for Regalia.​

4/7/310 UPDATE:

With the dismissal of Mister Erwin Braunschweiger from the position of Armament Commissioner, the Countess-Elector Haeddi van Hal has stepped into the spot. Despite this, the organizations of Mister Braunschweiger would be unnecessary to change. Unless complaints are raised with the Commissioner or she deems something to need changing, the current process and rulings will remain the same.

Nonetheless, the previous Weapon and Armor Permits are declared NULL AND VOID if they are signed by Mister Erwin Braunschweiger or anyone besides the Countess-Elector.

If you want an Armor or Weapon Permit, or previously had one that you wish to update, please approach the Armament Commissioner with haste, or contact her via letter.

1/17/311 UPDATE:

- Erwin Braunschweiger once again holds an Armaments Officer position. All information prior to the update is relevant and accurate once more, with the exceptions on topics of:
- Enigneering styles
- House Guard (Defunct)
- Mercenaries (Defunct)
- Occult Minister (Defunct)
- Armor Permits (Defunct)

These topics will be updated shortly.
- Gabrielle von Moritz is also an Armaments Officer. Meetings can be arranged with her as well.
