Anglian Shuffle: A Drinking Game Guide
Anglian Shuffle (Or South Anglian Shuffle) is one of the most notable card games in Aloria, and is a popular drinking game among social groups to see who can hold their alcohol. While the rules for this game have previously existed on the wiki, various cleanups and rewrites have removed that for now, and as a lot of my current roleplay revolves around drinking I thought I would republish the rules to the best of my memory and by what I've tried to find archived, but I have tweaked some cards for better play in current Regalia. It is a variation of the real world drinking game Kings, but without the King's Cup.

It is a variation of the real world drinking game Kings, but without the King's Cup.
Game Objective:
- The objective of Anglian Shuffle is to drink as much as you can without passing out/vomiting. If you pass out/vomit, you lose. The last player left standing is the winner.
- Players - While this game can technically be played by any number of people, I recommend a group of around 4-6 players.
- A Scorekeeper - Scorekeepers will keep track and update the 'Drunk Score'. Scorekeepers are not necessary if you trust everyone to keep track of their own Drunk Score.
- Alcohol - A great variety of alcoholic beverages from across the Regalian Empire is perfect for a game like this. Otherwise, your drink is player choice.
- A Bucket - For the endgame.
- The Drunk Score is a tally of rolls added together until you cap at your Max Number. Reaching the Max Number means your character passes out/vomits from drinking too much and loses the game. Max Numbers are set before the game and can make the experience longer or shorter depending. For average games I recommend setting the Max Number at 150, and for shorter games in large groups I recommend 60.
- Examples of Drunk Scores:
- [Player 1] 23/150
- [Player 2] 50/150
- [Player 3] 88/150
- [Player 4] 150/150 (Out!)
How to Play:
- Players take turns going clockwise drawing cards from a shuffled deck, with the youngest player starting first. To draw a card, you /roll 13 and select the card based on the number rolled.
- Each card has an action that is performed by the player drawing the card, but might involve other people playing they may choose if the card suggests it.
- If your character drinks, you /roll 20. The number rolled is added to your Drunk Score tally.
- Once your Drunk Score reaches your chosen Max Number, your character passes out/vomits and you are out of the game.
- Continue pulling cards until there is one person left standing, who is the game winner.
Cards:
- Cards are pulled from a standard deck (usually excluding Jester) of 64 cards. Each card number represents an action the players must do, such as drink or perform. Draw cards by rolling 13.
- Drink None! - No one drinks.
- And You! - The player who pulls the card selects another player. Both have 1 drink.
- More For Me! - The player who pulls the card has 2 drinks.
- Drinks Galore! - All players drink 1.
- With A Jive! - The player who pulls the card must perform a dance of their choice, or have 3 drinks.
- When In Vixe! - All women playing have 1 drink.
- Choose Your Weapon! - All players from Knight Orders have 1 drink.
- Be My Mate! - The player who pulls this card selects two other players. All three have 1 drink.
- To The Divine! - All players who are Godborn/Arkenborn have 2 drinks, and toast to their parentage. All other players have 1 drink and toast to their Religion.
- Let's Drink Men! - All men playing have 1 drink.
- (Jack) Make Us Crack! - The player who pulls this card must tell a joke. If it fails to garner any laughter, they must have 3 drinks.
- (Queen) Make A Scene! - The player who pulls this card first announces a word of their choice. Any time this word is used in conversation, players must all exclaim 'Scene!'. The last player to exclaim must have 1 drink. If this card is pulled again, the player has 2 drinks.
- (King) World Crowning! - All Ailor have 1 drink. (Elven cultures might also feel like drinking, but this can cause a stir in Regalia.)
Modifiers:
- There are certain mechanics on the wiki that allow for modifiers in drinking games. These are mentioned below and are applied to players who have characters with these modifiers.
- Aedan Fornoss Godborn Mechanic 2: Aedán Godborn have an impossibly high tolerance for Alcohol, always being allowed to roll twice during drinking games to their benefit.
- Dwarf Heritage Mechanic: Dwarves are barely affected by Alcohol that gets other people drunk, needing insanely high proof, and always being able to keep their drinks down. They can roll again only twice during a game and pick the lower number to add to their Drunk Score.
- Eronidas Heritage Mechanic: Eronidas are barely affected by Alcohol that gets other people drunk, needing insanely high proof, and always being able to keep their drinks down. They can roll again only twice during a game and pick the lower number to add to their Drunk Score.
Card Variations:
- There are different variations to cards depending on where you're playing Anglian Shuffle. One of the more popular styles to play is called Burdigalan Blitz, an Ithanian style that raises drink numbers. These variations will be added at later times.
