A complete Revision of the Altalar or High Elves or whatever you want to call them.

A list of changes:
  • Ditched the old detracting language and instead spoke well of the Altalar in their own page.
  • Reworked Altalar aging. By far they are now ancient with a max age at 400, but anything beyond 180 years requires a Special Permission. Also reworked some disease resistance and physical relation.
  • Expanded their gene pool for hair colors and skin colors and eye colors. No more just "High White Elf". There's some Arabesque and even Africanesque skin tones as well now.
  • Added a racial special: Rings of Power, dictated by the Faith of Estel granting unique properties to the Altalar in question.
  • Re specified the Mental Characteristics to make more sense given the background so it's not just delusional elves but they actually have something worth being proud of.
  • Reworked the /entire/ Altalar history to make more sense, be less *tree huggers* and put more emphasis on the urban theme of the Altalar. Then created a massive new Cataclysm esque event called the Wildering to explain why millions of Elves suddenly disappeared besides being genocided by Orcs which always seemed a bit excessive.
  • Explained in detail the degradation of the Allorn Empire at the hands of cults, also replaced the old Emperor Medui line with a line of Mage-Empresses, and stylized the court politics on that.
  • Laid the foundations for many more story webs and player quests in the future, exploring long lost temples and cities absorbed by the Wildering that left them untouched.
  • Specified all Altalar cults, bringing back together the sense of why they existed and what functions they served. Also set the stages for implementing the Voltalar through the Cult of Drogon.
  • Culture is much of the same, though perhaps again a bit less "lol delusional elves"
  • Religion is completely rehashed, switching the focus from Estel to the Altalar gods. Provided some backwards compatibility with other races so it can be a bit more unified but also conflicted, because obviously the Altalar will care more for the gods than Estel herself, while this situation is inverted for the Yanar and Cielothar.
  • Got rid of the Altalar language / naming systems. The Language categories are largely the same, but we got rid of the Spanish-translate-mass conversion systems that led to huge long character names. Names are now very simple and flat, fantasy esque (though still, avoiding Tolkien Elven!)
  • Economy re specified to make the Altalar economically independent from the Regalian Empire.
  • Switched up the military capacity from being the practically weakest basic bitch elf to being the strongest military race in the lore, which backs up their millennia long history of conquest and domination in the world. Obviously, much like the Orcs however, Altalar have a usable Achilles heel.
  • Created a new flexible pretty aesthetic metal called Nightsilver which can only be produced by altalar smiths who worship the god Sca'Elle.
  • Reworked the Proficiencies by removing the Stave proficiency and switching them out for a flexible +10 points that can be assigned to whatever the player wants. Additionally, Altalar are the first race to receive a point cap, allowing them to accumulate points to the age of 70, while all other races stop at 60.
  • Resultantly, the Altalar can now out-compete all other races on flat point accumulation and maximum skill gain, and that makes sense, given their longevity. They still can't break certain skill caps however, so say for example an Orc will always have more Unarmed Combat Skill than an Altalar, if they both put all their points into it, because only the Orc is able to break the 30 point cap.
All around, if anything we want the players to say "oh wow, Altalar now OP", and that's entirely intentional. In the lore of Aloria, the reason why the Altalar lost their grip over the world was because of circumstances and inner turmoil, not because they were the basic bitch Elf as they had essentially become over the years, when compared to all their sub races and the Ailor.

This puts the Altalar back to the top of the racial charts in terms of flexibility and overall Proficiency powers. It puts better to light why what happened to the Altalar Empire happened, and how it continues to be a theme for their future interactions with the world.

Do any major changes happen for Half Altalar (in my case Half Altalar/half Ithanian)?

With Altalar lore and abilities changing, will this mean Kathar will be edited as well since the two races are so close? Maybe an explanation as to why Kathar lifespans were cut in half, they abandoned the use of the rings, etc after becoming Kathar?

So, since Altalar can have the ability to transform into any animal between the size of a dog and a cat, would a crow fit that bill? Crows can be fairly large. I'm not sure if they are quite as large as cats.

A Raven would be cat-sized but it will probably depend if they want to allow flight or not.

The wiki said:
(Altalar older than 180 years are a special permission, see Permissions for more information)

The link for special permissions in the Altalar page is dead. I thought of reporting that here instead of the wiki feedback section because that page has just been edited and it is better hammer the iron when it it red.

What exactly is Nightsilver

Created a new flexible pretty aesthetic metal called Nightsilver which can only be produced by altalar smiths who worship the god Sca'Elle.

Nightsilver is a unique substance made out of magically blessed and chemically altered metals that form a brilliantly shining scale-mail, which is as light and flexible as silk but as tough as steel. Nightsilver armor allows Altalar warriors to avoid sacrificing the slightest bit of agility in combat. Furthermore, weapons can also be produced out of Nightsilver. Although weapons made out of Nightsilver do not have the same properties as finely crafted armor, these weapons have a dark crystalline blue color leave behind a trail of gentle sparkles reminiscent of stars in the night sky when wielded, hence the name.
