Alignments

True, but I tagged mostly some of the RP staff, and you generally because you are quite 1 of the first people to reply to this thread. Of course I do not have to edit it to fit to the MassiveCraft Lore, since this is only a discussion, they will eventually take the work that is here and edit it to their expertise. However, I could have done that for them if I could understand the lore a bit more easily, I tend to get confused on the lore everyone once in a while, since I don't even play In-Game Yet. I'm still waiting on saving money to actually open a MineCraft Account. My soul purpose here is to enhance my chances of Youtube Veiws and Subscribers. But, Notation is taken, Thanks.

I hope to see you in game, however, take my advice when I say don't do something for the sole purpose of gaining views. I've seen people try that with Youtube channels and it gives them bad names. as for getting confused in lore, that's likely because right now, much of the lore is being redefined/rewritten to get back to how the server was MEANT to be. At least, I THINK that's why they are doing it.

Well, I will be perfectly honest with you, I heard about MineCraft about 3 months ago, and did a research paper on it and its company (Mojang). Basically I know a lot about the game, without even playing it. So further more, I intend to play it one day, but as of right now with school and all, not to mention my Youtube account getting extended into my daily life, I can't find time to create a Mojang Account with the name "TheLosElectrons". I have other accounts, but I really want to wait till I get an account with my Youtube name title. The reason for this, is I want to be professional really. I hate it when Youtube accouts technoly have a proper name, but they use a different username for their game titles, which is quite annoying to me. Not to mention since I have OCD, it would drive me literally insane watching a video with a different username listed in it.

Also, Could you possibly Tag all the RP Staff? I have a sense of some who are friendly to this thread, but I really want to have everyone's opinion on this thread. Whether Negative or Positive.

I'm not exactly sure who all of the staff are, but I will keep a look out for ones that you missed and tag them, or maybe even message them to take a look at this thread. In the end, I believe the final say comes down to MonMarty, since he is the lead RP director, or at least I believe he is.

TheLosElectrons If you would give me permission, I could tinker with the format you gave to make it more lore-compliant so that you can properly introduce it to the staff.

Chuckles to himself-

MonMarty himself has been tagged more than once on this thread already, however now that I know he's the Administrator now, I should have chatted with him first. Most of the Staff, possibly might not agree with this generally because of how much it disrupts the current MassiveCraft Lore. But, in my own derestriction, I think this might have a chance. I have been warned about 4 times that this will be taken and edited if it is accepted as a copy of their own. The main thing I'm afraid about, is that half of the time I came up with an idea, someone usually takes it and never give me credit. I doubt to the full fact of arguing about this, however, I think it should be credited to DnD mostly.

--Eyes Widen-

By All Means sir! I would gladly give you permission, the more people who are incorporated into this, the better. I wish to have a community based opinion, so please make sure you receive other's ideas to in cooperate this into this Project. However, if the opinion is to a negative effect, please alert me so I can keep track of who is Pro for this Project and who is against it.

i'd gladly add my characters alignments if i was given the option by the staff.

Well I'm glad you like this general based Idea, I've been role playing with friends for quite some time, and I thought it would be nice to help Role Playing Forums such as this.

Very well, all I will do is retype the information, then send it via in-forum mail back to you so you can post the revised edition to the forums.

Edit: Since this is YOUR idea, I would like for you to be able to keep an eye on the post, and the best way to do that is if you were the one to post the revised edition.

Agreed, and

Basically, When We properly Format Alignments properly, I'll possibly copy and paste it and open a new thread with a Voting Policy. This will determine later on, what the PLAYERS consider is best for the forum. My only flaw is that, if this is running into a non-ending cooperation, then it will be disbanded after a certain amount of time. I have plenty of time to write out major Projects such as this, but if it doesn't seem to be going anywhere, I'll close the topic myself.

Well, the only person we need to impress/gain the approval of is MonMarty and the rest of the RP staff, the normal members don't technically have a say in what is or is not approved because what seems like a good idea to some, could be a very poor idea to others.

AS OF RIGHT NOW, ANOTHER MAJOR UPDATE TO THIS THREAD, MOST LIKELY MOST OF WHAT IS ABOVE MAY BE GONE OR NO LONGER EXISTANT!

The people listed above have cooperated at least some notation or preference to improve this thread. With this, I thank them for their opinions and direct actions to this thread. Thank you all.

I will agree with you on that, but again, even if the Administrator is not impressed at least we had fun creating something that can be used in someone's Fan Based Threads or Campaigns, which would help them, create villains and hero's throughout their journey. I perfectly understand that the Administrator is the only one who can implement this in, but what about the community? What if they do not agree with this idea? Just because 1 leader agrees with everything that we have here, doesn't mean that the community will follow along. That is a major problem these days, is that half of the time, everyone never gets a chance to see or cooperate anything into something. I personally can care less if this is accepted or not, I just want everyone to be happy with whatever decision it comes to.

Thank you for the recognition TheLosElectrons, if you want, you can have a moderator close this thread until a more compliant one can be posted? Or you can leave it open until the new one is posted.

The intention is to leave this open to brainstorming, of course other may say something that may be very useful, I rather not close a thread that is undergoing proper construction. Besides we still need to have most of the Other Players and Staff take note of this idea and other generalization.

Also, with formatting, when you eventually recreate a proper and more MassiveCraft version of Alignments I would personally like you to post who is cooperating what, for example:

Player Name: So and So
Requested: What what
Reason: Blah Blah.

And that would be posted above the edits, then below this:
Helpers:
(Post all who helped format and recreate the Alignments)

I want to make sure we receive everyone's idea on this topic, possibly try players in game to read their side of this.

I always use the alignment idea when creating my characters. My RP history started with D&D so that would explain it. I wouldn't really want other people knowing my alignment, but it's a useful tool to get inside your character mind and how he/she thinks.

I don't really think it should be on the character application because it would be abused and metagamed to death.

True, that has been mentioned quite a few times above in this thread, but I accept the opinion. There are several cons to this idea, but getting it properly formatted to present to MassiveCraft, would be best for now.

Thanks again for the notation. Metagaming is a pain.

I don't see how it would be meta-gamed any more than people cautiously avoiding vampire characters, which happens very often. Yes, it would be meta-gamed, but you can choose the people you RP with, and who you wish to avoid. That being said, I would like to know in what other ways it would cause issues for meta-gaming.

People can easily Barge into a Proper Role Play In-Game and state someone's Alignment out in the open, and completely change the sequence of events in an RP.

Which people already do with races "HEY! AREN'T YOU THAT VAMPIRE THAT NOBODY WANTS TO KNOW IS A VAMPIRE!!! GUARDS!!! ARREST THIS MAN FOR BEING A VAMPIRE!!!" (actual conversation that I witnessed once... >.>)

Thats Sad. No Class, Nor the respect for the other players. Do any players have a sense of professionalism? Perhaps that was a beginner or possibly a very young child destroying a current role play for fun.

Seriously, chaotic good. All the fun of being evil...but directed toward the bad guys! (party)

Yeah... But... This being said, I feel silly for not thinking about this sooner... We technically DO have a form of "Alignments" in play... The character sheet requires that people announce their "personalities" in which, they are free to tell their intentions, and almost always do. So, it's not called Alignments, but character alignments do exist within the "personality" section of the character thread.... Sorry for not remembering this sooner!

Personality is mentioned only as Traits as in Habits formed over a period of time, you're likes and dislikes are also separate but they really are not required because they can be mentioned in the personality section.

This sounds actually quite interesting. But I must agree with Dr.Fong, as it can be used for meta-game. But overall, this is a grand idea.

Evil and Good and anything in between are subjective terms, product of opinion. I don't see how an alignment system would be good for the character intro's.

I would agree with you fully, generally because of how the formatting is now, and the new DnD Character Sheets are far worse than what I hoped they would. But, I suppose Alignments would be useless.. But so are the Likes, Dislikes, Sexuality, and Relationships Section. The Likes, Dislikes, and Sexuality can be represented in personality traits. Relationships are noted as Optional, which doesn't really apply to this at all. Alignments describe a proper position in which side you (your character) stand in, making it easier to understand for Forum Play. However, this would increase the chances of Meta-Gaming or Spoilers in the use of In-Game Play. I perfectly understand this. Thank you for your input, MonMarty.

Well don't forget that role-play isn't the only aspect alignments could be useful for. But more on that later, I generally agree on the idea to add alignments, but those alignments must be personalised in each and every character. You can have an alignment for example: Good, and then use it as a base to write out your story and personalise how you would characterise your character as a 'good' character.

This is incredibly useful when a person is recruiting people in his/her faction. You can easily place an alignment of what you think you mostly resemble as. The recruiter can then see if this fits with the general alignments and goals of the faction and so make a judgement if this faction is the right place for his recruit. In that way members will be selected more efficiently as to where they belong in the community. :)

Yes, we may need to tweak it so that it is closer to the lore of Massivecraft. And since that lore (so far I know) has not yet been completed, we might have to wait a while till we can actually adjust to the lore. ;)

I do like to thank you for bringing up such a wonderful idea, weather it gets accepted or not, I thank you and the ones who contributed.

TheLosElectrons

Uhm, you seem to be mistaken. Earlier in this thread, you stated that you wanted credit because this was 'your idea'. Well, it isn't. The Infamous series uses Lawful Good, Good, Evil, and Chaotic Evil. At least, I think it was Infamous. It was definitely a game, and what you are saying definitely is not your idea.

Dungeons and Dragons uses this as well, and that's probably older than LosElectons is. I wouldn't be surprised if there was an even older game that used it too.

Yes, which is why I do not think it is fair that he is claiming credit.

I meant has having my name in the character introductions for suggesting the idea. Not taking full credit for the creation of this. It's a common mistake, but anyway, I believe MonMarty has disapproved of this anyway.
