A Call to Action
Written by The Scion

Before I move on to my preface or even the main piece, a statement must be made regarding recent events on the continent. I am eternally saddened by the most recent attacks that have befallen Calemburg, and I wish healing upon all those affected. May those who were lost forever find sanctuary in the Everwatch.

Now, I would be remiss in my position not to regard any statements or public posts made to my previous critique as worthy of consideration. After all, it's not often that the representative of a corrupt mafia of landowners places a bounty on you, especially when you would normally not even warrant a greygate cell! It is curious afterall, that such a conservative as Dietrich von Drachenburg would waste so much effort on a conservative ailor like myself, just because I wrote a few words on a parchment and posted them in public places. Nonetheless, I appreciate and thank you for considering my writing important enough for such an honor. Moving forward with the remainder of the preface, I must first ensure that my words are not twisted. Regardless of any agreement with other pieces similar to mine, I did not write the Questions of Man. Whoever did so, is simply a reactionary looking to embark on the same intellectual quest as I am now, and I applaud the writer.

The last part of the preface includes those who I have decided to leave out from any criticism, those being the members of the Typhonus family. It would be a crime to pile onto a family that has suffered such a great tragedy in their lands. May the Spirit guide them through these horrific events.

Finally, we move onto the crux of this piece, which is both a response to the brief and poorly thought out statements of the mafia's representative, and also a call to action. I will begin with the statement made by this representative, that I cannot criticize the feudal system of land division because it has established what he coined as the modern era. It is definitely understandable that the mafia has such a misunderstanding of my arguments, that they would make such an outrageous assumption of me. I would not dare say to uproot the institution of nobility, for that would present a new facet of naivety for my critics to exploit. The keyword I will display is featured at the end of my critique, that being the term "replaced". My goal is to replace the unloyal rats that currently have usurped their power from good conservative ailor, with those who have shown great margins of respect for such power.

With any good reformist push, it is important to detail exactly how the replacement would occur, so I will lay out a case. The case first involves the Emperor's crackdown on the nobility, usually utilizing guard forces to excise any aberrant or void affiliated entities from the disloyal families. For an easy example, the Howlesters and their disgusting practice of recruiting sewer rats to their courts. The next steps involve the complete abolition of noble privilege, which has long been used to protect corrupt figures from the confines of a Krakenburg cell. Nobles that have abused privileges to get out of punishment will be dragged out of their estates in chains, no longer able to weasel their way out of charges that others in the commoner class have been executed for. Once the appropriate arrests are made, a new judiciary is established to begin the complete and total overhaul of noble landed rights. Families who were targeted for corruption will be revoked of their ancestral lands, and given to new families that have shown devotion to the Emperor, or current ones free of any committed crimes.

The question arises then of whether this solution is feasible, and whether the Emperor would even consider such a proposition. No he will not is the simple answer to this equation. Why that may be the case will be covered in later works or treatises, but the solution to noble corruption will never come from the top echelon of the Regalian hierarchy. The truth is that these solutions must be from the bottom, and I will be very specific in laying out who must make up this group. The group must be led by ailor, as no organization led by non ailor will ever make strides in replacing the corrupt noble class. It must be free of aberrancy and true to mundane assets. It must be led by idealists and warriors alike, as to prevent what occurred in the Rose movement or the Red Berets, who I will critique in later works. It must not be opposed to the idea of violent revolt, as in this great struggle the corrupt mafiosos will attempt to sure up their own power against this fair movement.

I will close with a simple foreword. Many of you do not know me at all, as in my anonymity I have not decided to come out to the public yet. Let not my identity distract you from the words in my message. Let the words in my message resonate and create a strong coalition of those looking to achieve the same future I am. Whether you are conservative, liberal, or somewhere in between, we must cleanse the nobility and replace them.

This is a call to arms, a call for all those willing. Reclaim our lost civilization.

Thank you, and spirit guide.

"I cannot recall getting so much publicity when I was a Secretary of Magi. Or when I was a guard commander of two separate charters. Or -- wait, even when I was honoured as a war hero and bestowed medals for my hard work for the Empire."
Vala commented idly as she settled alongside Gwenyth, passing the parchment off to the Isldar before tearing into an orange.
"I certainly did not get my position by stuffing my thumb up my rear. It is almost as if I worked to get to where I am at. Fortune favours the dedicated, no?"
She paused, tearing the orange in half and offering one side to the Kade Court Mage. "They like to forget the things I have done for the city just because of the colour of my skin. This certainly was not a problem until I stopped using my mutation to be white - racist for the sake of being racist. What a pitiful life they must lead."

"Come forth, Reformer the words of a person who hides mean nothing to any honorable soul who is ready to die for what they believe. Please keep writing until us Mercenaries find you, your insolent decision to continue a ever growing list of "Conservative" madmen brings nothing but a chance for coin to any loyal Ailor or Citizen who can find your neck."

Genevieve rolled her eyes from the couch where she was reclining. Dancing slippers off to the side, and removing the golden combs from her hair as the servants brought her a restorative cup of tea after the Debutante Ball. Responding to her brother's bellows, she answered with one of her own.

"They didn't even use their own name! Might as well be a fairy tale! And why are we yelling?!"

Malaqar smacked his lips over his opium pipe, coughing out a plume of smoke. "Mm.. The cult of tradition. It may not grow, and it may not wither, it shall remain stagnant forever! Whatever storm may come we shall endure by changing nothing. Progress comes regardless, like the tide!" The Kathar mage mused to his illusionary clone sitting beside him, continuing their conversation about politics deep into the night at the corner of the Crookback tavern.

"Big words for a man who hides behind a pseudonym," The Archan would utter out, folding the piece of paper up and tucking it into her pocket. Her eyes trained over to the large crow who sat perched upon the top of a chair nearby. "Ought to call himself the cowardly conservative. He calls for a call to arms and yet I doubt it will get any farther than that. A call."

The crow would caw in response and the woman would let out a little chuckle.

The Drachenburg Paladin sipped his kaffee as he passed the paper over to his brother beside him.

"I miss when it was the Velheim screamers spewing this nonsense. Makes me somewhat curious as how such a small piece of legislation has turned into this utter rubbish."

"Anonymity. The butcher of authenticity." Hagmer remarked to no-one in particular as he looked over the notice with overwhelming lethargy. "If someone truly means to stand behind something, they shouldn't hesitate for a second to leave their signature, no matter how radical the content on it. Otherwise, it's all a half measure, as the preacher can babble and spit the stinging truth all day, but at the end of it, they still consider themselves too above from the substance of their song to honor it with the simplest proof of loyalty. So why would anyone else?"

The gray giant turned silent. His head lounged back and his vision crested the sky, where he would dedicate his thoughts for the larger part of a while. The ascent of his right hand then shattered the stillness, and as he scratched at his scalp, his small rant was given conclusion.

"It's a call to action, alright, and whoever posted this clearly lacks the conviction to be among those who would answer it."
