It's come to my attention that some are excusing the actions of the Inquisition because their efforts are to eliminate the "Kathar problem." That this entire race is full of the vilest beings ever to walk Aloria, and that every single one of them is rotten to the core.
I have a few questions to propose to you, the citizens of Regalia.
Are all Ailor the same?
Are all Varran the same?
Are all Altalar the same?
Are all Dwarves the same?
Are all Varran the same?
Are all Altalar the same?
Are all Dwarves the same?
The obvious answer is no. So why does this not apply to Kathar? Our personalities are not defined by our race. They are defined by our upbringing, the environment we grow up in, the people we meet, and the education we receive. There are many horrible and no-good Ailor, and there are many Kathar who have good intentions and simply want to live their lives in peace.
You may ask the question, "Then why are most crimes in Regalia committed by Kathar?" And the answer is quite simple: stereotypes. They are constantly put into a box of being criminals and bloodthirsty maniacs. They are pushed into the underbelly of Regalia and are left with no choice but to join up with their kin. Now, I am not excusing any crimes some Kathar have committed in the past. Though I do believe instead of tarring and feathering them as punishment, we try to reform them. When you laugh at a Kathar being publicly punished and therefore humiliate them, do you think that'll make them turn away from crime? No! If anything it perpetuates the idea that all Ailor are evil beings in their heads and then pushes them further into a life of crime. I ask the various guard charters and those willing to help them become upstanding citizens. Without the use of psychological or physical torture, I'd like to add, as I know some love to jump to when they get the chance.
Another suggestion I have for all the citizens of Regalia is easy to follow. Form your opinion on another because of their personality, not because of their race. It shouldn't be too hard to practice this.
To close this message, I am by no means arguing against the Inquisition's efforts to get rid of the werebeast and vampire population. They are justified for that. However, their hunt for Kathar is not.
Sincerely,
Elysmae Wynhana
