As a victim of many raids and other hostile acts by other larger factions and empires, the officers (myself included) and the leader of the faction were thinking about how to stop this. We wondered whether other factions who didn't want to be in an empire would be in a similar situation to us so we thought that an alliance of independent factions would be a good idea. This may include helping other member factions when they are being raided, a portal hub and an RP centre.
Is this a good idea, would you want your faction to join? Any ideas, please tell me.

(Btw I am not an avid forum user so if something is wrong or I have made a mistake please tell me, thanks)

I am so sick of being raided. Do raid rules matter anymore???

It sounds like your faction put themselves in that place. Being in one of the largest factions, member-wise, we haven't been raided in weeks. Don't mess with the wrong people, or they'll be on your tail for ages.

Also, if you think a faction is going against the raid rules, make a ticket or report said faction to the staff.

An alliance of independent faction sounds like a empire. You all join together for a common cause, to be independent yet you are dependent on other in the alliance.

Yes it might, but most empires I have come a across are more like dictatorships, they just raid you till you join and once you join you can t do much of what you want. With this there is no leader, just a group of factions helping each other.

The Hisokian Collective is an entity similar to what you are talking about. All member factions have autonomy to a certain degree, but also have specific rules. The rules are fairly common sense rules like "don't attack other members" and "don't abuse portal access". We allow our members to go to war with others freely, but do not support wars of aggression on a Collective-wide scale. That is, if you are the attacker you need to convince each individual faction to fight for you, there won't be a Collective Vote on it. However, if you are the defender and didn't bring the war upon yourself you can request me to set up a vote for war and if a majority says yes all members are expected to a) defend you, and b) declare war on the faction that attacked you. Even if the vote doesn't pass, you can ask for help from other members of le collective. Naturally, factions that are not PvP-oriented don't need to go to war, they can support the effort in other manners.

If you want to join send me a mail with the following information:

Faction Stats: This tells us about you as a faction.
Name: Naturally, we need to know your faction name.
Leader: Who is the leader of this faction?
Size: How many members, on average, does your faction have? Officers?
Capitol: What is your capitol city/location called, and what world is it in?
Type: (PvP, Roleplay, Resource, General Purpose, Dunno Yet, Construction)
Style: The general building style of your faction.
Goals and Reasons: This will tell us why you want to join the Collective.
Faction Goals: What does the faction overall wish to achieve in the future?
Leadership Goals: What does the leadership of your faction wish to achieve in the future?
Reason for Application: Why do you want to join the Hisokian Collective of Factions?
Why should we take you in? Basically tell us why we should accept you into the Collective. This won't be the only factor, but the more convincing a reason you can give the better your chances of being accepted.

I raided Mithril about 2 weeks ago. FYI.

I thought of it more like the United Nations, we convene at a place every now and then, protect each other, yet are all independent. It was an idea to have a group of people together, we can discuss things, and make sort-of rules that we should follow. It was to avoid the idea of an empire, to allow people to live free of oppression from a ruler.

@Mecharic
This is similar, but it factions would help each other, protect each other from raids and be a bit more cooperative, however my faction may be interested in joining with you anyway.

Just to re-rail this topic again, would anyone be interested in joining the UGC

@MegaMummy200
What if we are not a large or powerful faction, many factions don't want to be. Not every faction can became powerful.

I would picture it more of the League of Nations over the Inited Nations.
The differences lie in the fact that the LON didn't work and was one of the reasons WWII was able to start.

@Billy Rage
I won't go on about history but both were similar.
This may work however and if it has sufficient interest it is very likely to. Plus this won't start a war (hopefully).

@Billy Rage
Wow...
We are trying to make peace, and we have have a okay democratic history. (One of us nearly became a Youth Parliment Member)

@MegaMummy200
That is not your point though, you said about being a large faction would stop raids, also that still doesn't stop my point that many factions cannot and or do not have the time or members to become large of powerful.

I'd rather not start a flame war within this chat, but I'd like to end this with saying, you don't need a load of members for your faction to be at the top, or good. You just need the motivation, dedication, and direction that the faction should go in order to be at it's peak. Also, I never said that just because Mithril is a big faction, that they wouldn't get raided.

@MegaMummy200
I agree, flame wars are never good ideas, just that maybe being in an organisation like this may help a faction reach its peak. Thanks for your help, it's much appreciated.

For those who do not know what the UCIF is, it stands for the United Confederacy of Independent Factions

@J2D21 @Timelordtoe
I am not saying you shouldn't try this, I am just saying it would most likely not work. There is no need for reason since there is little consequence for action on Massive. Going to war has such a low level of risk to most people, what will they looses? Some diamonds from there stacks? Some Regals from the thousands they already have?

That is one of the reasons why this hasn't happened yet, there isn't that much need for it.

This would be more like an alliance, not as much like the UN, maybe more like NATO were all the members agree to protect each other if one is raided or threatened. Also this could create an RP centre if there was a portal hub.

@Billy Rage
This is not about stopping war as much as protecting from raids, small and independent factions can be blackmailed into joining empires by constantly being raided, in fact today we were raided by raptum. Also the tribute payments can be devastating to a small faction.

If protecting from raids is what you wish, just simply gather the materials and redstone and make gates or traps if you like. When that fails, an 'undercity' type area also works great for working on faction things and being safe.. Protecting from raids is much easier than ending a war. Another way to prevent future raids is to make sure all your members don't aggravate the bigger factions into raiding you.

@The Golem
I agree, our faction capital is quite safe from raiding now (it's underground) but our outposts, were most of the members live, is abovground and it's is quite hard to protect a base like that, traps and walls can be ender pealed over, and most raiders are better then being caught out by traps. Also most raids we get are not from agrovating other factions, they just want to raid to gain wealth or want us to join their empire.
Thanks for the advice though, we might do some of these.

As J2D21 Said, a small faction can be devastated by even a small tribute, one of our members had come from a small faction that basically got destroyed, because another one raided it once!
