Clothing: Extravagant, formal. Height: 6'1'' How would your character express Happiness and Contentedness? Zoryia expresses everything in the same way: openly and for everyone to see. Due to the Ithanian culture he has somewhat adopted, as well as his past as an entertainer, Zoryia sees his role as a shapeshifter and infiltrator more so a form of performance than anything. As such he is dramatic in everything he does, indulging himself when happy and sharing it to ingratiate others to him. He is also a frustrated man, however, and rarely content from a life in constant motion and oppression (both legal and historical). How would your character respond to experiencing Fear? Again, Zoryia would never be one to outwardly show something so negative, as this would break the illusions he so delicately puts in place. Depending on the identity he is adopting/his form, he will often mask this with confidence despite the odds or any threat. He may, however, play up fear for the sake of manipulation or sympathy if need be, but would rarely do this in any way that could reflect on him as being cowardly: His pride means even when infiltrating from the bottom up, he aggravatingly refuses to take the role of the lesser or the subjugated. How would your character respond to experiencing Stress? Zoryia is one to experience fits of anger or frustration as a result of bottled-up stress. He tends to release this stress in the form of insults or cruel tricks rather than physical aggression, but in retrospect despises this type of behaviour from himself - He wishes to maintain at least a gentlemanly appearance. How does your character view Law and Authorities? He views Slizzar tradition and the betterment of his race as the only real authority. Any other law is one put in place by an empire that either actively involved themselves in the genocide of his people or passively contributed to it through complacency. As such Zoryia sees no harm in disobeying or evading the law to better himself (and therefore, as he sees it, his whole race). How does your character feel about Races other than their own? Zoryia is understandingly hostile to Ailor and Allor for again their complacency or active participation in the Chrysant War and it's the aftermath: These are therefore his favourite forms to take and manipulate people with. In his travels in Daen, however, he has been exposed to countless cultures and people so bares no racial or cultural prejudice to any other races. (Though, he is also able to distance this prejudice from generalisation: he understands not all are complicit in such tragedies). How does your character feel about Religion for themselves and other faiths? Zoryia has not really indulged in any religion beyond his own as a Slizzar (namely: the Nessrassian Faith). How does your character feel about the Arcane and Magical in the world? He sees it once again as merely a tool for the betterment of himself and the manipulation of others. He learnt in order to better carry out his job as well as to more powerfully assert himself as a person of authority and skill. Zoryia also heavily values devotion in any craft, so admires any who would devote themselves to such a study. How does your character feel towards their family? Zoryia speaks little of his family, having lost his mentor and father while young, his wife and mother in the Chrysant War and (later) losing track of his children in Regalia. He presumes the latter as dead and as such any thought on family is mournful and only seems to stoke the more dangerous aspects of Zoryia's personality: his rage and more callous side. What is your character the proudest of about themselves? Zoryia is proudest of his former life as a successful criminal, entertainer and exporter. In many ways, his present life consists of attempting to reclaim this previous ecstasy by exploring more and more complex, at times desperate means. He is, therefore, constructing a version of himself based on the distant fantasy of his past that has slowly built up during the lull of his later life. What motivates your character to move forward and better their life? His drives consist of a need to return to the glory of his past, to establish himself as a powerful and influential person, to track down his children and to in some, perhaps small, way take revenge for the wrongs of the Regalian Empire. What is your character's biggest insecurity? Zoryia has many insecurities that he buries with confidence: The fact he is from a large family of lost Slizzar, the fact he abandoned his family when fleeing the law, the fact that he sent his children to Regalia and therefore their potential death. What is your character's biggest fear? Zoryia's biggest fear is that he will die alone and unremarkable. In some way he justifies all the pain he has caused and also been subjected to by believing something will come of it or, more accurately, he will make something come of it - If he was to die for nothing, as nothing, his past would likewise be for nothing. Zoryia was born the third of three children in 188 AC, a weak little thing, to a middle-class family within Osstissa. Born of lost slizzar parents (A fact he never speaks of), Zoryia was the only child to be returned to Sassrakkand. There, the family stayed and he was placed under his beloved mentor Zenssa, beginning to avidly indulge in his education. Zoryia remained very close to his parents as a source of pride, and had a very close relationship with Zenssa, but grew ever-distant from his siblings due to their very different upbringings. Here the family remained for 23 years, until 211 AC. By this, Zoryia had fallen in love with a female Slizzar named Mezni and fathered three children of his own: Nezris, Zenssa and Zoryia. Around this time Zoryia left more and more for wider work infiltrating within Allar society back in Osstissa, taking great pride in his work for the greater Essa Empire. In 220 AC, at age 32, Zoryia suffered greatly at the loss of both Zenssa his mentor, and later his father. This resulted in Zoryia's need to escape Sasssrakkand, Osstissa and Hadar proper. Before leaving, he placed the children in the capable hands of his partner and elder brother and departed to Ithania. There, he was welcomed by his distant, wealthy family who had profited greatly from the Ithanian Gem Boom. Here Zoryia lived in greater luxury and adopted much of the culture and attitude of the land whilst he assimilated. He worked a wide range of jobs under this new family, namely as an entertainer and later as a matriarch of greater renowned, of a much larger company (mainly in theatre/performance). Here he learnt sorcery over many years, to aid in his work as well as to gain the power and renown he craved. While profiting greatly, this business seemed the perfect stepping stone to shadier and more unseemly deals. Zoryia, immensely enjoying his new-found popularity and wealth, also indulged these new ventures. He went on to abandon his entertainment business to pursue a more criminal career in counterfeit export to the Archipelago, becoming so successful as to invite his family in Ithania to join him. And so, quite neatly, the family had fingers in legitimate jewel export as well as counterfeit ceramic, jewel and textile exportation. By 260 Zoryia was a wealthy man, as was the wider family, as well as his family back home who had also profited unknowingly from these endeavours. In 261 the company Zoryia worked for came under investigation and he fled Ithania, leaving his family and connections behind to face the consequences. With his wealth, he travelled across Daen, entertaining himself and dwindling some of this wealth away on his road back home to Hadar. Before doing so he hid his wealth in Daen and returned with only a fraction of it back to Sassrakkan. Here, he found his children is similar employment to what he had been, and in an attempt to gain more prestige for the family organised the two eldest to be sent to infiltrate Regalian Society on the Crown Isles, seeing them as vulnerable during the Pessimism occurring at the time. Zoryia spent many more years back in his old home with his wife and remaining family but grew slowly restless. During the events of the Chrysant War lost most of his wider family, his wife and mother, and in the aftermath lost all contact with his children in Regalia. With nothing left, he fled to Daen only to find his wealth gone and thus began a life of crime once more to regain his prestige. He watched in disturbing joy as a distant Regalia suffered countless tragedies: The Lo Occupation, the Bone Horror Crisis, the Anahera Dictatorship - He saw it as a grim sort of justice for the Empire's actions against his people. Though a shadow of his former self, Zoryia now wishes to return to the Crown Isle, begin to make another luxurious life and name for himself within its underbelly and, finally, kick the city while it's down.
