Yihan believed her family travelled and sailed away from the Beian mountains to go on a week-long stay in the west. That is what her mother and father had told her, however, it was a lie. They needed to go west because they were banished from their family and being hunted for it. Though Yihan was so young and her parents very secretive, she didn't understand the gravity of the situation and why they were banished in the first place. They arrived in a small village and rested for the day there until tragedy struck.
The village was attacked by a pack of Markens and while protecting the people who resided there, her parents were killed. As was the rest of the villagers. Yihan, however, barely managed to survive and stayed by her parents' corpses as the infectious bite took hold. When help did arrive, she was detained by a strange set of people. She was used for experimentation, to learn more about the limits of the body, mind, and soul under Markenism. She was kept locked up and if not in a cage, she dutifully protected the scientists as well as did any task they required from her.
Therefore, it came as a surprise when she was able to single-handedly level the facility and kill everyone inside. Scientists, guests, and experiments alike. The event was enough to garner the attention of the Lothar Order and Knights swiftly collared her. However, even then she seemed timid and hardly fought back.
It came as no surprise when she was willing to become a weapon for the knights so long as she can remain collared. They were a little more than happy to accept. She spent a year in Trigunn and after the Citadel incident, she was sent to Regalia to asset the Order's operations there.
Plot Hooks:
Unknown Family
Yihan has no interest in learning about her family history and her lineage. However, she correctly assumes that maybe they were banished due to no family coming to find them after the Marken incident and more than several years of her being missing. This goes in hand with her having little interest in people who don't care about her either.
Experiments
Due to experimentations and treatment during that time, there is very little that seems to harm her. She is timid, subverent, and melancholy. She seems to not care for much outside of doing what is required, that also includes her own well being. She sees herself as replaceable and lesser than in a way. However, even the smallest amount of kindness, she cherishes ten fold. She may not display it in the expected fashion, but it's present if she chooses to hang around you.
Disconnected
Yihan is disconnected in more ways than one, to her culture, family, friends and faith. Therefore, some see this as very malleable for good or bad. She is new to Regalia and is loyal to the Lothars above all else. Though she will listen to whatever the knights tell her to do, she also seems to wish to protect others. Even Occult at times. However, the jaded and lack of emotion is hard to decipher if she cares enough about occult and afflicted or if she does it with complete apathy until it's time for her to go after them.
Marken
If you ask her, she hates being a Marken above all else. Her dream is to be free of this curse, though she will never say it. Instead, she says that she sees it as making due with what you were given. As a Marken she can be feared and stronger, she can be more useful for others than she would otherwise be without Markenism. So she doesn't actively try to find a solution. Instead, she feels like being collared and tamed by the Lothars is the solution in the end. She's apathetic about the cost of being solely a weapon and believes dying while being useful is ultimately what everyone should strive for.
