    With the same creaking noises that heralded the flooding of the sewers, so did the same noises herald yet another change. But this change was even more unexpected than the last great event that upset so much of the sewer's fragile societies. The surface dwellers planned to announce to those living in the under city that they only survived by their grace and mercy, and that this right was all too easily taken away from those who dwelt below. The metal strained and the wood creaked as the flood gates were closed and the inner sanctum flood gates were opened. Like a big swirling whirlpool, the water suddenly rushed out of the sewer canals with the thundering force of waterfalls. Some Maiar and unfortunate sewer dwellers were sucked away in this massive current, though some would later come to find, they were the lucky ones.

    As the daze of the sudden disappearance of the water settled down and those left behind were beginning to cheer as their houses were now no longer flooded, a new noise started ringing in their ears. A drumming sound, a march of the impending doom that was about to befall those close to the exit. Above by the harbor, clerics were preaching open masses as the faithful attended, blessing the endless ranks of Crimson Inquisitors, Witch Hunters and Azure Mages that flooded into the sewers rank and file. With the thundering sound of prayer above, the screams below were drowned out, though they were many. The first rows of Crimsons that broke trough the barrier gates formed up a shield formation. Some brave poor sewer dwellers tried to hurl stones at them, harmless, and perhaps more out of fear than actual intent to hurt them. The Crimsons quickly responded however as crossbowmen stood up from behind the shield and opened fire at will into the crowd in front of them. During the past week, many sewer dwellers had swelled near the maintenance tunnels, access points that in the past had allowed free travel into the sewers. As such, hundreds if not thousands of sewer people were gathered in shacks and vagrant tents near the exit, those were the first to fall by the sword and arrow.

    The shield formation advanced with murderous precision and efficiency. Each time a crossbowman shot an arrow, two men behind him reloaded his previous weapon and handed him a new one. After each volley, the shield formation advanced, stepping forward over the corpses of those they cast down. All the while, priests in the back of the line were chanting Unionist verses while the screams echoed around them. Most of the people near the sewer exit were helpless. Some vampires and mages in hiding were obviously present, though the witch hunters and inquisitors made short work of them. While the shield formation advanced the killing towards the nearest crossroad underground, mages came after, casting fire ball and wind magic to blow apart many structures and free the stonework of any inhabitants. Whole families were burned alive in their little shacks, a complete panic quickly overtaking much of the inhabited upper levels of the sewers. Many tried to flee to the Elven levels of the sewers while they were shot at with bows. From some of the ventilation shafts, engineers threw down packets of explosives and bombs, detonating when they reached the ground level.

    People were literally being shredded to pieces, the inquisitors repeating over and over "Those who resist the will of the spirit be cleansed, let the holy flame purity your souls and save it from eternal damnation!" Above the ground, many people were very well aware of what was going on, though very few if any of them actually cared. The people living int he sewers were filthy, freeloaders and poor people. They were the rejected traitors, the peddling poachers, the swinging smugglers and runaway mages. They were the Vampires, the void infested and all the heretical refuse that the city refused to harbor in its holiness. Those living in the sewers could not count on any sympathy from the surface lords, as it was their retribution that came down on the people in the sewers for their heresy.

    As suddenly as the massacre started, did it too end. The Crimsons never intended to penetrate deep into the Sewers so only some of the superficial near-surface tunnels were purged. Many of them dragged corpses off, strung them from the ceiling with ropes or cut vampire heads off and pinned them on pikes near the sewer entrances. They clad religious spells on the walls and prayed to the Imperial Spirit with the priests who were administering final rites before each and every corpse was burned in compliance with Unionist burial rites. Above the ground, the Crimsons were heralded as heroes by the common man, celebrating a great victory of "purging the gold-eye menace and their sympathizers". The Crimsons and the city authorities made no ill attempt to make it very clear to everyone: It was the Gold Eye Freaks that had brought this purge and judgement down upon the people in the sewers.

    With much of the sewer entrances in waste and the city authorities satisfied about the purge of the upper levels, the sewer entrances were re-opened for basic maintenance by sewer workers. Yet not much travel occurred from the entrances like it had in the past. Was it really safe yet to venture out? Who could tell.

    OOC INFO:
    • Keep in mind Regalia is a major military state. Don't pretend like there's suddenly a massive call for rebellion. 94% of the citizens really don't care what happens to the sewer people and would rather have those filthy beings gone anyway.
    • Your character is not forced dead or wounded! If you want to, you can roll to see if your character sustained a wound or something of the like, but plenty of people escaped to the lower levels to avoid the massacre. Or maybe they hid among the corpses and crawled out when an opportunity arose? Feel free to roleplay out your character's experience during the massacre on this thread!
    • The sewer entrance near the harbor is open again. Be aware however that especially for Silverts, getting out is a bit tricky. Expect that someone will be tailing them wherever they go in Regalia and they will always have the feeling like they are being followed above ground.
    • All of this is all 100% IC accessible information.

    Juan Ramirez ran, or more likely limped, behind those running for the lower levels to avoid the massacre. Screams of those dying ringed inside his ears yet he kept on his track. The explosions of satchel bombs dropped down shook the sewers, making him fall down, desperate to survive he crawled into ruins of a shack that was blown down by the wind created by mages. Sleep deprivation of days took it's hold of him and he fell asleep safely under the planks. After hours of sleep, he crawled out. It was no big deal for him to sneak out, yet a thought pounded his head, what had happened to Nic and Rico?

    I woke up 30 minutes after this was posted, which is strange because that's like 4 am for me.

    It's almost like I had a special connection to this progression.

    This progression has chosen me.

    It is my favorite.

    I'm going to display my love for this progression.

    By writing a story.

    Fenic slowly rose up from his seat upon hearing the news. Fear struck his heart immediately. What would happen to his friends? The only ones he had? He felt like breaking down into tears, but decided to lie on his bed instead.

    There was no way to properly describe the level of Lithiel’s horror, revulsion and anguish. She only barely escaped the massacre by the narrow time frame before it occurred. Having packed up her things, saying goodbye to yet another patient, and passing through one of the many hidden passage ways her daily routine home was her saving grace. Looking back, it was her eagerness to return home and write everything she’d found since the recent ‘reveal’ that perhaps saved her life. She hurried that day and perhaps was too busy to go back so soon with all the things she had to document.

    The horror of just how close it was to her shocked her to her very core.

    The healer had not lived in regalia long. When she first arrived, the sewer was her home for a time. When she was no one, sleeping in trees, she also walked the subterranean corridors and got to know the poor and improvised who dwelled there. Even after rising to the surface, securing a place of occupation above, she still returned to see to the innocent with no means to leave their living conditions.

    I was where she met old friends, found crucial information, and hoped to uncover the ruins Philip Kade once enchanted her with stories about. If only he’d seen the truth that appeared with the collapse of the tunnels. But perhaps it was for the best they hadn’t pursued this endeavor. Whatever Lithiel had learned those days she had to keep to herself- for surely all witnesses who did not escape to the deepest parts of the subterranean passages…died with them.

    Which made this genocide of poor and pauper, criminal and vampire alike… was suspicious above all simply by those who did it. The chants and claims of salvation through death and brutality…

    Death to the gold eyed menace?

    If William had led the charge maybe she’d have thought it was her fault but this act by the Crimsons, inquisition and the witch hunters threw her completely by surprise. But her surprise would be short lived replaced by more and more horror- as once it was safe to use the passages left un destroyed… she’d find no one alive to tend to. Just bodies…

    Those who might have survived scattered, she’d have to wait and see if any were left who needed her help. To those she considered her friends who dwelt below.. she kept her door open and wept in the arms of her beloved. She'd bury her face in the crook of his neck, his scent reminded her she was alive, yet again, but she'd never forget.

    How could one hold any faith in this “holy” city that sat upon the dead?

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Meanwhile, Scuffs continued to clean the living room. Pushing a chair up to the wall, the child crawls up onto it's cushion, reaching up on her tippy toes and removes the used candle stick-
    she topples and lands on her bottom. She dind't cry, just sat there feeling like a chill went down her spine. The chienji dismisses it just as quickly though, dinner was being made and she had to get the descuffed armor back before nightfall.
    How fortunate her fate was kind to have her in a better place and time...it could have been so different a few months ago.
    A voice from the next room- Warren is calling her! If she hurried quickly, they could play hide and seek before William got back!
    That night one of the Coens asks where she used to live before they took her in. Scuffs replies unabashedly. Their facial reactions vary, and Diane strokes her head as if to banish a specter clinging to the child.
    When her chores are done, she'd given a hug and sent to her warm bed. Far away from horrors she could have shared.
    Alfonso, to be honest, really didn't particularly care about it when he heard. He assumed that a large portion of those who died had been men he wanted dead and to be honest, the man cared less about anybody else in the sewers than those he did hate. When he heard, he would congratulate the crimsons, but gave it little more acknowledgement than that.
    "By the tail of Haashch'ééltí, how disgustingly intrusive this foul stench is..." Doumah thought to himself while hastily covering himself in blood and filth from the surrounding corpses. He shot a glance in every direction now and then, his ears flickering to the sound of echoing screams, chanting Crimsons, and the rhythmic thud of their crossbows firing. His heartbeat stomped like a flock of galloping horses as he felt fearfully close to his demise. The occasional bursts of magic, specifically fire, had him ready to flee in a flash, but he understood him alone was no match for the ruthless and merciless cleansing ahead. Instinctively, rather than with reason, he thought of hiding among the corpses. This was a matter of life and death, and there was little time for considering other options. He heard the Crimsons march closer as the echoes became louder with their every step. The bodies weighed heavily on him, his breathing roughly inhaling what air he could. The torches and their occasional fire lit the long, mossy and dark walls of the sewers, and their shadows crept ever so closely.
    His fear was momentarily interrupted as a pair of light, quick steps passed him. Whoever they were ran towards the Crimsons. He feared they might not know what would meet them, and pushed a gap in the pile of bodies he hid in, but before he was able to warn them, they had already ran too far, and past the corner.
    “Hurry, dear! You must be quicker, or they’ll find us--” was all the terrified voice was able to utter to the woman desperately trying to follow him before he was interrupted by a Crimson. “Fire!” Again, the small tunnel was filled with screams, however short, as a wave of bolts consumed them. The Crimsons immovably approached closer, marching towards him and the pile he hid in. Though he could not see them, the echoes dulled down with every step. Soon, they were but some feet away from Doumah and the pile, and they halted for what seemed an eternity. “Light this pile up.” a deep voice commanded, the mages abiding. A wave of light and heat glazed above him as the pile of bodies slowly began to burn. Not after long he felt death’s warm fingers creep slowly towards him, and the urge to scream and fight back grew stronger by the second. The Crimsons had begun their march once more, and Doumah would wait till the Crimsons had turned at the nearest corner to flee. With every second passing, he felt he counted to at least a hundred, and when the lights of their torches finally dimmed, he bursted out of the pile like a wild animal escaping a butcher’s murderous clench. Before he looked to hear if they’d noticed, he ran to their opposite direction hoping to find a small path to the lower levels of the sewers. Luckily, having only searched a few moments, he found one and seeped deeper into the dark tunnels, hopefully to avoid them for good.
    Walthur would notice a small crowd out near the harbor, with quite a commotion going on. After excusing himself from the upper levels of his shop, he would walk down the pier to ask one of the people on the outside of the crowd what it was all about.
    After being told of the events that transpired, he would thank the informant and walk back to his shop. Though instead of going back to work, he went to his rum stash and opened up a bottle. As he drank, he had a small grin on his face. "Well, less smugglers and scum means more opportunity fer profits from us honest folk."
    As screams broke into the sewers, Zfi'Tzzk, rowed deeper. The eyes of his Torrp and Vissi, walking alongside the boat which held the many young of the Xir'Tfx, were kept steady on the dark of the sewers. Deeper.
    Courtney would've attempted to haul a rock and hide, but wound up getting shot in his bad eye and in his arm, he then went to hide under a few dead corpses, and stayed in the sewers. afraid to go up.
    Slowly moving between the destruction and death left in the wake of the Inquisition, a lone figure cloaked and masked moved. His tail had divided into legs and he kept it low to the group as he moved out upon the stones. Oh how the world tasted now. So different, so much more delicious. But oh what fools they were. They had killed so many, broken even more. He would take advantage of that, and slowly following out the shadows behind him came several others, five to be precise. Each wearing a different coloured mask. "Go out and help the people in the name of the Sseptsons. Turn them to the right path, thossse that were Unionissstsss ought to be espsssially vulnerable. Now, go..." And they walked out into the ruins as a smile grew beneath the multi-coloured mask. Then he frowned and headed in a different direction. Allies of the Golden Eyes had been the chant the killers had used. Fools. He would need to turn them out, out to the surface, and silence such a foolish notion. Now he was certain, they were doing something that was bad. Bad for him and his future, and for the whole Empire as a whole obviously. Time to do a bit more groundwork.
    There kind of is a call for rebellion though? Iv spent the last weeks gathering everyone I can and uniting the Gangs in the sewers and I have at LEAST 30 players, OOC-Wise counting alts which IC you would act like they arent the same person, there are like 40+? If the guards piss off the population underground, and someone who knows what their doing unites them, life can get messy quickly for this 'Inquisition' .
    Im thinking Gorilla Warfare style. There was a group of Mekket Table-Sailing Sewer Pirates who were targeting guards and they did attacks on several without any of them going to jail or being fatally wounded. (thats a real sentence). With enough planning it wouldn't be too hard. The Gangs have been fighting each other for YEARS, turning that resourcefulness and experience- and now rage- on the Guards would be... Pretty devastating...
    Grégoire slowly arose from his drunken sleep. There was a ruckus, though he knew the sound.
    Something was happening to the water, and soon enough he'd poke his head out from his door, and peer down below into the previously flooded depths of the bandit camp.
    He slowly nodded at this; guessing the exits were being opened, and that there was likely now a way out. Though his light smirk disappeared as he heard the drumming. A few seconds of thought. Seconds longer than it would normally take him to make decisions. As soon as he broke from this trance of the very rare fear he felt, he grabbed the ladder from beneath him, and hurried to pull it up with all his strength.
    The bandit camp was empty now. No ladder dangled to reach his door, and the smoke from the blown out candles hid well in the darkness. He was to return to bed, as it seemed - for now - he could remain untouched by the horrors below.
    Fyrssra hushed everyone who remained inside the Mossy, threatening to kill anyone who made a sound. The wall of rubble Myrnin had pulled down with his magic to block the Mossy kept both the water, and now blood, outside its walls. Though, the screams tore through with ease, and Fyr slithered as far from the rubble-covered-entrance as possible, to avoid the horrid sound.
    The largest problem is that any "rebellion" with any merit would have to take place on the surface. Guerrilla warfare isn't very useful when the only good places to set up an ambush are patrolled on an hourly basis.
    What just transpired to me shows that it will be very difficult, if not downright impossible, for the sewer dwellers to attack any of the organizations. The Crimsons, Witch Hunters, and Azures decimated the people near the entrances. Granted the real sewer power is in the hardest to reach places, but even then, the Empire has the advantage of the higher ground and most resources, not to mention the emotions running in the sewers can be a double edged sword. What can be fuel to a rebellion can also turn into survival of the fittest.
    From my standpoint on everything, the Empire 's highly trained groups have demonstrated with this act that they hold the power. While I can see that every sewer dweller has revenge on their mind, I just don't see a fighting chance against the Empire anytime soon, if not ever :(
    [[ The guards, while OOC as players aren't this high - are IC among the numbers of 1000, at least from what I've heard. Regalia is a military city. If the gangs rose up against them, they'd be committing suicide against one of the greatest forces on Ailoria - while trapped within its walls. The quote "I'm not trapped in here with you - you're trapped in here with me." comes to mind ^^.
    while i completly agree and i'm 100% on your side on this argumant, i do feel teh need to say gangs have their way's to aquire stuf, so it wouldn't be too much of an imagination to assume they could get their hands on some gear right? and a few assaults on some guards here and there, you get the picture right?
    Immediately after learning of these events Ibrahim would dispatch messengers and order an increase in security to the various assets and influences he manages:
    Our Lady Isophene
    #11 Cathedral Plaza, Regalia
    Attn; all Staff of Our Lady Isophene Public Tutor House And Orphanage
    RE: recent flooding events
    Find new spaces to make up beds and prepare for disaster relief, the resident staff will have to double bunk for the time being and the available staff apartments will be used as a medical bay and extra bunk space. The cafeteria staff will help support the efforts of the Regalian Soup Kitchen and supply meals to be served from that location. Please try not to let this disrupt the children's classes although I recognise the difficulty in what I ask, just try to do your best during this latest crisis de jour, fear not though the professional Marine Soldiers will still be providing your security.
    Jacob Roils
    Jacob Roils watched in horror as the volley's began. He quickly began to cast, hoping to build a barricade of some sorts to protect himself. Though his cast ended when the first bolt pierced his shoulder. The vampire began to panic and tried to flee though that was when the second bolt struck his lower back. He began to slowly turn himself towards his attack's though that was when the last bolt went through his neck, he immanently dropped and began to claw at his neck where the bolt stuck through to no avail. He slowly died on the ground as he was trampled by fleeing refugee's.
    Juan Mendoza
    Juan rushed towards the lower edge of the sewers, him being in one of the front rows of the refugee's really didn't give him a chance. He had almost made it past the corner of the camp when he felt a sting in his left leg and fell to the ground, a bolt being lodged in his thigh. He quickly went to work for his own survival, with the bodies dropping all around him he crawled over and grabbed a hold of two or three of them and pulled the bleeding corpses on top of him, effectively playing dead under the actual dead people.
    Devassa grinned at the sound of the advancing Crimsons, pulling his hammer from his back. The 8-foot Dakkar's hammer was very long and heavy, more like a warhammer than a tool, and it took his two hands to hold it despite his enhanced vampiric strength. He grinned a wicked smile as the screams got louder, along with the sound of the crossbows and the marching Crimsons. He hid for a second behind a pillar as they rounded the corner and faced him, firing and firing. A few panicked sewer denizens sprinted past, but Devassa was not interested in them. With a roar he dodged round the pillar and sprinted towards the Crimsons, swinging his hammer hard on one of the shields. Crossbow bolts pinged off his rock armour, some embedding themselves into the leathery skin in between the stone plates. His hammer, reinforced with his Jagara strength, smashed through the wooden shield and killed the Crimson holding it. Another volley of bolts fired at him and he gasped, stepping back for a second, before continuing through the pain and sending a swing for the crossbow men standing behind. Blood reddened his vision and poured down his legs and body, most of it his, but he didn't care. He was going to show these Crimsons, make sure they would not -
    He screamed and dropped his hammer mid-swing, clutching at his face where a bolt had punched through his cheek. He was pushed back by a punishing barrage of crossbow bolts, now more akin to a pin-cushion than a Dakkar. He grunted, trying to push forwards nonetheless, one last-ditch attempt at victory. He stumbled. He tripped. He fell. He died with his god's name on his lips.
    The already injured girl began to limp quickly back to her home, though she wasn't quick enough to escape an arrow to the right shoulder. It pierced the already shattered limb as she let out a cry of pain. As the corpses surrounded her, she would fall to the ground and close her eyes. She merely pretended to be swallowed by the mouth of death, but prayed that she would stay alive long enough to find Erak. She waited until the Crimsons retreated to be helped by a fellow sewer dweller in the process of going back to her home.
    Haluise Istynerau
    The screams and chaos echoed through the halls, which surely meant Haluise would hear. She clapped her hands and barked orders to her men, ordering the few archers she had to go to their peaks and ready their bows. She ordered the two guards normally watching from the second upper part of the base to guard the gate while she stood with a cast at hand. "If t'ey come in, fire! An' I wan' ya to keep firin' at 'em!" She hurriedly moved back behind the peak of the gate and ordered it to be let down. The dwarf that guarded the lever pulled it down with ease. Now, not only was there screaming, but there was also the creaking of the gate. She shakily stood, waiting... But the Crimson's never came. They never dared to go that far...
    The burly northern man had a sudden fury, wanting to take the fight to the order, then realized what would happen if he did, he realized what would happen if he never came back to his family. At the moment a crossbow bolt slammed into his side (just above the right hip, though not to where it would do too much damage to his internal organs and such) As he lay there, slowly bleeding, corpses falling around him, he would shed a single tear. Not from pain or sadness. Nor from grief, he would shed a single tear out of anger. And as the countless sewer dwellers cry from pain and fall lifeless around him, he lay there, only one thing on his mind. Did she make it?
    The Reverend exited the primary entrance of the sewers, taking care to dab the sweat and blood off his face with his handkerchief. He looked down, his colored unionist robes now muddied and moist. He exhaled, clearly somewhat unpleased with what had just happened, while another side of him was glad that all that filth had been cleansed. Exhaustedly, he walked towards the bathhouse.
    <As the halls and makeshift dam creaked and trembled, so did the dwellers of the sewers. All but a handful of course. Deep in his abode, beside the throne of the Beggar King, unclaimed but protected and used, the Sanguivore surrounded by vampires of equal denomination lay in wait. Creatures of both disgusting mind and hideous feature. Devouring any futile insect that chose to run from the crimsons into the heart of their lair. Be it human, elf, orc, crimson. None were safe and none were saved.>
    To those of you who are thinking that revolution has a chance of actually being successful:
    You'd be putting 6% of people against 94%. You are move than outnumbered: you're a non-existent force. Not to mention that Regalia is one of the strongest military empires.
    Anything you link to the possibility to success, I link to the Researcher's Bias. Since you want something to be possible, the approaches you take and hypothesizes you make will be subconsciously constructed to favor what you want the outcome to be.
    Makaha was at the wrong place, and the wrong time.
    The child, a mere weakling, had been taking her usual patrol through the sewers, making sure her family members never went down there when she couldn't find them. Stolen helmet and wooden stake ready, the child also clung to a bag of minor supplies, in case she found herself or flow members starving or hurt down here. The walls around the wandering Maiar began to thunder distantly, and before she could fully turn around, a rushing tidal wave slammed into her at full force. The filthy water was a beastly dog, and Makaha was it's toy. She was thrown helplessly off her feet, spinning in the chaos as unhealthy water filled her lungs like smoke. All of this was happening while she occasionally collided with debris, or stone floors. One final blow, and the child had fallen unconscious.
    ...
    Water sloshed against walls and barriers... Where was she- Who was dragging her? Or... Was she being carried? Eugh.. Not only that.. But her torso ached and she had a drumming migraine.. She must have hit something and passed out. As Makaha regained consciousness, the hulking Maiar carrying her in her arms gasped.
    "You're awake...!" She said hopefully. "I was worried." Who was this Maiar?
    Makaha groaned, turning a little bit in the bigger Maiar's arms.
    "No no.. You're hurt- I'm taking you to a safe location." Makaha made faint sounds of protest. "No.. Trust.. Sewerfolk.." She croaked. "It's the only way. We're almost there." The larger Maiar responded with. Once they had made it to the Mossy Poss, The bigger Maiar demanded she be given fresh water for Makaha. Makaha slowly got herself upright, drinking some of the water. She felt better, despite her now apparent fever. "Thank..." She managed to say. The woman made a sigh of relief. "So glad you're okay. What's.. Your name? I'm Echolas.."
    "Makahhha...." The Mareva replied weakly. "Ah.. Makaha.. I think I remember you. Do you know Kailani?" Echolas asked. Makaha nodded. "She Ma. Ma away.. though. Out of city to work on Territory.." Echolas sighed. "Well.. Maybe we can see her when we get out of here."
    ...
    Makaha's illness progressed to badly that she needed to go out of the Mossy to be sick. Wandering the flooded halls on old rafters, Makaha and Echo saught help from a Mekket for temporary shelter, before returnign to the Mossy. The Mekket hive had no medicine, but they tried their best and Makaha lost her symptoms to her Arnok's Illness that night. However, paddling on their way back, Echolas and Makaha discovered that the Mossy Poss entrance had collapsed. From outside, maybe even the whole tavern was destroyed.. Shelter was no more..
    "Psst!" A voice hissed from above the pair the stood at the blocked entry way. "Up here!" Echolas looked for the voice. A vampire stood in a hole in the wall, some high height in the air. The vampire made a gesture to invite them into the tunnel. Echolas grabbed Makaha and carried her up the wall, following the vampire. Before the flood, they might have refused, but as of now, they needed as much help as they could get, and were desperate for any help at all.
    Following the vampire through the winding tunnels, the pair passed by a fork in the paths, one pitch black, yet smelling of salt. Eventually, the group made it into the back of the Mossy Poss.
    "I'm Simon." The vampire introduced himself. "If you need anything, just talk to me." Echolas made a brief bow. "Thank you so much. I'm Echolas, and this is Makaha."
    ...
    Drumming echoed from outside the empty, partially collapsed tavern. Makaha sat upright from her sleep, her torso snarling at her for the lack of food she had been eating. Makaha had been rationing her food supply as thin as she could, to survive as long as she could. "What that?!" Makaha urgently whispered to Echolas, waking her up. "Huh.. What..?" Ech said, sitting up. She sharply gasped once she heard the sounds more clearly, snatching Makaha up off the floor, barely giving the child a chance to grab her things. The burly Mer-Woman ran to the back of the Mossy Poss. "They're purging the sewers!" She explained in a panic, keeping her voice lowered. She looked around in a frenzy, finding some furniture to hide Makaha under. Pushing pillows and other things together, Echolas buried the child so she was out of sight. Echolas didn't hide herself however, she wanted to protect Makaha.
    Under all the debris, pillows, and other things, Makaha silently whimpered as she hugged her Allar plushie tight. Oh Susumu, where are you when I need you? Please.. Don't be sad. I'm not dead, just missing!
    ...
    "Did anyone check in this tavern yet?" Voices said on the outside of the rubble blocking the way. "It's collapsed, dumbass, I'm sure any heretics who tried hiding in there are dead or dieing. Let's keep moving." Echolas listened closely as Ailors spoke outside. She held her breath, hoping for the best. The paused drumming started again as the troop outside kept moving. "Those who resist the will of the spirit be cleansed, let the holy flame purity your souls and save it from eternal damnation! Those who resist the will of the spirit be cleansed, let the holy flame purity your souls and save it from eternal damnation!" They chanted. Echolas collapsed with relief as they sound echoed away, and she went to dig out Makaha, who had cried herself to sleep until the collosal pile of things over her for protection. "Wake up, Makaha. Now's the time to escape!" She cooed quietly. "If we don't leave now, we might never leave again." Makaha was roused from her depressed rest, and crawled from the pile, taking her bag with her.
    ...
    Echolas sprinted over corpses, carrying Makaha on her back piggy-back style. It's good the growing Maiar child still weighed little to nothing to Echo, or this would be difficult. Finally making it across the upper levels once the Land-dwellers cleared out, Echolas carried Makaha to safety. Climbing out of Harbor entrance, no one seemed to be around. Immediately, Echolas jumped into the ocean with Makaha, racing onward to get some distance between them and that (un)holy city. "Are you alright?" Echolas asked once they were some distance off-shore. Makaha seemed stunned into being quiet. "Too scary.." She squeaked in Hwlon. Echolas hugged her. "It's going to be okay. We just need to get out of the city for awhile..." Makaha huffed angrily, interrupting her. "But have friend and belonging I needs!"
    "Is someone there?" A voice asked. It was male, distant, and sounded somewhat concerned yet friendly. "Hush" Echolas told Makaha. "I heard you!" The voice spoke in Hwlon, his warm voice uneasy from worry. "I mean no harm!" He said, the voice getting closer. Soon enough, in the night-time waters, A young man came into view. He had deep, dark skin, making him harder to see, but his few bioluminescent spots glowed enough to show his figure. He didn't wear much only a pair of shorts similar to Makaha's but more colorful, and intact, and carried a fishing net with him.
    "You two seem kinda fishy. What's wrong?" He asked, tilting his head. Echolas growled. "Don't get close." Makaha peeked out from behind Echo. "Uncle Meowy?!" She shrieked in surprise, causing Echolas to jump. Makaha raised over to the young man, hugging him at his waist. "Uncle who..? You know this Maiar, Makaha?" Echo said in disbelief.
    The young man laughed, waving a strangely webbless hand at Echo. "Ice to meat you, I'm Maui." He said, smiling as bright as his spots. "If you didn't notice, I'm this little one's uncle! And you are..?" He said, waiting for the lady's answer to fill the blank. "...Echolas." She said, a little disgruntled by the man's puns. "That's hilarious. I had been sent here to the city by this little one's mother. You wouldn't happen to know her, would you?" He continued. "Kailani? Yes.. She's an old friend of mine." She said. "Do you know where she is?" "I do, but it's halfway across the globe as of now. Her location, that is. I'd take you there if I wasn't so wrapped up in my situation." He said, pointing down at Makaha. The child giggled, letting go of her uncle.
    "Still working on the home territory.." Makaha said in perfect Hwlon. Turns out, she was great at Hwlon, and just chose to speak in Common cutely. What a little devil. "I have no other place to go as of now.." Echolas said. "Come to my home. I have a metal sheet that has a map leading to the new territory." "Nnn!" Makaha protested. "We can't go back. It's not safe for us because we just escaped from the Sewers." Maui gasped. "You were in the sewers? No wonder you're so thin! Don't worry sweet little beach. I'll go fetch the map. You stay here, okay? Not close to the surface either! Boats may see you."
    As Makaha watched her punny Uncle head back in the direction of the city, Makaha nudged the already annoyed Echolas. "One could say that he's not shellfish at hall for doing us such a flavor."
    "Not you too!" Echolas laughed. Makaha pointed both index fingers at her, grinning. "You SWEATER believe it! Hehehe!"
    The military is off at war and there are a lot of pissed off people. Even if a full revolution isn't possible, said pissed off people are going to make things difficult in any way they can. Guards only patrol in 2-4's.
    Just because something is highly improbably does not mean there is NO chance. And after all, this is a fantasy roleplay, everything is not going to be perfectly realistic, fantasy is the genera where the magical wonderful bullshit that shouldn't work does somehow.
    There are still troops in Regalia just to mention, not everyone left and went off to war, there is a home defense front banner made up of reserves and Lampero forces. Any rebelion would therefore also have to fight against them and their weapons of war.
    I don't think its nessecary to rain on the revolution parade. Let IC be IC and let people try as they wish, successful or not, there's no need to argue about it here.
