When it comes to classic vampires, there are a few discrepancies. The stake is used to keep a vampire in it's grave, not to kill it. Magical powers usually involve hypnotism and seduction, which would not work on a raging creature. They can shape shift, but only into rats, bats, mist, and normal wolves (depending on the story). Burning it will work even without cutting it's head off first, but you do have to scatter the ashes. "Powers" were not commonly mentioned in stories, as fear was the main intent. The vampires sometimes had increased strength and speed, but so did werewolves in those cases. Traditionally, they killed people as they slept or were unaware. If they were to attack someone, they're main defense would be their resistance to injury. However, they also have many weaknesses. Garlic, sunlight, running water, holy water, ash wood, fire, decapitation, etc.
Werewolves, in the original stories, were also the byproduct of satan. They weren't demons, but black magicians, victims of satanic curses, cannibals that became witches, the fool who slept under a full moon, and those who gave into carnal desires. They aren't mindless either. They may be brutal and raging, but also intelligent. Many old stories of werewolves tell of their scheming and trickery, often avoiding public knowledge entirely. They would turn into normal wolves, except they would be larger and often retain human capabilities. Weaknesses are not as often defined, but they usually have the strengths and weaknesses of any other wolf (of course, slightly larger and much more smart)
So, traditional stories actually lean more towards werewolves. However, there are stories of vampires in countries outside of Europe that have much greater powers. So really, it is nearly impossible to discern who would win just by looking at the original legends.
BUT, this is not about the original tales. This is MassiveCraft's vampire vs Skyrim Werewolf. The vampires of Massive have denser bone tissue, twice the strength of humans, the lack of a need to breath, limited levitation powers, and an alliance with other creatures of the night. Weaknesses include sunlight, wooden stakes (pretty broad), and holy water.
I am not completely acquainted with Skyrim werewolves, so you shouldn't take me up on the following. Generally, they have increased strength, speed, and size (but only at night or the time of a player's choosing). They do not stay transformed long. They lack most intelligence, using brute strength instead. They still can think however.
Again, the odds are almost evenly matched. Honestly, these are not my favorite descriptions of either race/disease. But, they are what the thread dictated.
