Where Did You Get The Idea For Your Rp Character?

Um, what race is you character Elite? And I'm pretty sure that Elite isn't a compliant name for any race. Dyriotic is a good Dwarf of Elf name, but otherwise it just sounds like Dyrium.

It's the back story of my character, thats how im called Elite. Also my username...

Basically the base of the name is my IGN and have a story to back it up :P

I've had so many characters it's not even funny, so I'll list a few I remember.

Laura Smyth: This character was my little healer. I created her because I had been reading a book series that involved healers and herbs and such, so I got inspired and BAM, Laura.

Estelle Smyth: This chic was made to be the daughter of Laura. I saw a blind character bumping around the tavern, so I thought wouldn't it be a challenge to play a blind character. Sadly, she was murdered by her lover's brother. I will always miss her ;-;

Florencia Cullasbes: At the time, I had wanted an Elven character, so I made a sassy, bootyful elf. I guess she was what I wanted to be. She's a good fighter, not afraid to speak her mind, and outgoing.

Ianthe Silith: This time around, I wanted a character more like myself, so I created a shy, sweet girl. I am a music lover, so I had her family be traveling musicians. She has an angelic voice and can play an instrument with little mistakes, talents I wish I had. She's strayed a lot from that personality, becoming more bold and such. (And now is missing an eye...)

K'arrie: This one.. I just. My goodness. I wanted a Klein, so I made this little curious rascal. The most mainstream Klien ever, to be honest. She's gone now, hidden in a hole and most likely never to be seen again...

Raisie D'Lorraine: I wanted another sweet character, since Ianthe was pretty much done with being sweet, so I made Raisie. She was another healer, but now she's not.

Um, that still doesn't prove that he's lore compliant... He can have a nickname Elite but the name Elite by itself is just not right. But, only you can create your character. I'm just saying, if you don't want staff pelting you with suggestions, ask for a compliant name. Also, I ask again, what race is your character?

And, this is kind of the instance where people told Suzzie to stop making "Cutesy characters" and make a male for once. I am thinking about making a female Mekket, or, something of the sort. A male Dargon, or lizard like race would be a good balance to all of the female characters. Variety works better than quantity. I have an insane Qadir fire mage who wears black leather and cloth clothing with a half white half black mask, a bookworm/farmer/Evergrowth mage/healer/priest Yanar, who looks awesome, and a 46 year old Slizar who owns a city, an airship, is the head professor of magic in his empire, a researcher, and is very friendly and accepting of all races, except Ur. His family was split apart by the Chrysant War, and his brothers are each living their own not-the-best-lives. Balance is the key to a good character pallet.

Let's keep this on topic, yes? You don't need to make suggestions for people's characters in an unrelated thread xD

Eh, if you knew me better than just a screen name you'd understand :D I don't want to sound like I'm being a huge critic, but from my experience, having characters similar to each other makes for less in depth roleplay.

I didn't make a character for a very long time, but when I did I just made the backstory what I had actually experienced on the server in that long time without a character, with some slight fictional modifications. My first main faction was Winterhold in Southern Ellador so I said I was born there. After a while there I went to Pariahfolk, an orcish faction. I said I traveled from home after my brother and father didn't return home after the war they left to fight, so I went on a journey to find them, or at least find out what happened to them. While my rp brother and father were real players, I didn't know them at that point so when writing my story I added them in later to make it seem like they were a part of it the whole time. Even though I was a dwarf I fought with the orcs of the Ithanian desert, and learned much from them about fighting (this part is true). After that I got news that my father and brother were fighting for the holy empire of Algaron (which they were, that's where I met the real players), so I went to join them. I fought along side them and stayed with Algaron for a long time (true). But eventually, while defending Algaron from the Viridian Crusade, they fell in battle (unfortunately they were banned for some BS during the crusade, which they fought against, so this is making a rp version of an actual event). After they fell, and eventually after the Algaron Empire fell, I went to return to my kin and fight with the Dwarves of Nargothrond (true). There is more too it than this of course, but I'm not here to tell my back story I'm here to tell how I got it. And my story continues as I continue to play and have memorable experiences on the server.

It's a selective process deciding what goes from in game experience to back story, I won't count every faction I have been in or every player I have ever met as part of my story, or a random event as a development. But it makes for really detailed and good rp, because I'm telling my actual story pretty much. This way of making a back story has has worked extraordinarily well for me, and has helped me shape my character and has made rping a lot easier, since I know the story and how to tell it, since it actually happened. It also makes rp more enjoyable, as I'm telling people my actual story. I have consistently gotten comments on how good my rp is when I talk about my past, and I contribute it to this method.

I would highly suggest to any new players, or even old if they are looking to make a new character, that they do this. It takes time, my experiences and stories have been acquired over two years of time on Massive, but I think it is well worth the patience and effort. Don't force or rush anything if you do decide to make your own story as you go along, because then it wont be as immersive. Good luck and I hope you give it a try!

  1. Phon - He's basically an improved version of myself, the visual appearance was taken from another universe and added more medieval tinge to it. He was created to be a living legend, master of combat and philosophy like the old masters in many chinese martial arts movies. Albeit a more active and outgoing one. But I kinda messed it up when I let my irl wackiness bleed into him and turned him into a comedian in the final days. I might get back to playing him well at some point in the future, who knows.
  2. Mahoney - She started out as a thought of genderbending Phon. It eventually spiralled out and I went with the polar opposite from him (loud, strong, rude) while keeping the cowboy concept I've had. She stayed as my anger vent for a while before I decommissioned her.
  3. Teresa - This one started out as a random character and possibly the first non combatant one I've ever played, I pulled her personality set from another cut character and I found myself gravitated to her adorableness. Kept her as my main character since.
  4. Ulysess - Again made as a random character, I got inspiration from Forrest Gump in making this character a genius sharpshooter but a dense dumbass. Needless to say I got attached to this one but real life matters pressed me to abandon playing him.
  5. Magnus - The first try at a really evil character. Most of his personalities can be condensed into a mere "F**k You". He's rude, sadistic, and will stop at nothing to eat your family if he happens to hate you. He is bound to turn into a good guy at the end before dying but it didn't go as I planned him to be.
  6. Marianne (formerly Mariana) - Started out as an attempt at making a young Phon skin. It eventually spun off into a separated character. I canonized her and linked her story to Phon's decommission story. She is concepted to be a trouble magnet who attracts unbelievable amount of bad water towards herself.
  7. Roxanne - Original concept was an emotionless knight. I couldn't think of her last name and eventually patched her up with Lampero family, and switched around a few things so it turned out good.
  8. Ricardo - A failed attempt at recreating Phon, I stumbled upon Phon's most original look and spun it into a character. I tried to copy Phon's personality set but found myself failing horribly, instead twisting him into a complete ass.
  9. Ramirez - First non-ailor character, I built her to be a cocky character with cowboy tinge. Gotta say she's pretty good.
  10. Gustav - Originally made to pitch into rebellion scenes, I made him as a drunken russian McGuyver who was a knight somewhere in his past.
  11. Gussen - Unrelated to the one with similar name. Gussen is made to be an extremely techno character. Also has a bit of a mad scientist in him but only with metals.

Now for the minor ones
  1. Nicolas - A funsies character, his concept is nothing but lollygaggins
  2. Lazarrus - Originally intended to be a main character. I lost the drive to make his application a reality, unable to find a good skin for him, and his idea eventually got outshined by Teresa.
  3. Sigma - An original character in Phon's family roster, pulled him into action for a bit but found myself uninterested.
  4. Dexter - A try at making a full cowboy character. Didn't get to play him as much.
  5. Willis - A mix between posh guy and kung fu master. Shame I didn't get to get him into any fight to see his ability.
  6. Emillan - A joke character, made to feel the other people uncomfortable with his open homosexual lewdness.
  7. Louis - A very small character, made solely to be a support to Teresa and to kill some time. Still has some backstory though.

The Cringe Chronicles = This is how I refer to my first characters on the server, the ones I made before I changed my name. They were really lore incompliant and just really nooby all around.

Morahlon = This guy was my first not nooby character, and also my first one to get approved. I made him because I felt like making something that I didn't cringe at after roleplaying, so here he is.

E'mriel = E'mriel is probably my favorite character just because he's funny and too stupid for his own good, but I really enjoy playing as him, because I can just forget about manners and butcher common :D

Oromad = I wanted to see what it was like to play as a mage, so a wild Oromad appeared. I also wanted to see what it was like to roleplay as a crazy guy.

I'm glad you created a mage character. Some people are scared it would be too incompliant :P It's always fun knowing that you have someone who can thin and thicken the walls between the Void and Exist.

-Sees there were no Drowdar back in the day, becomes Drowdar, everyone follows, everyone stops playing Drowdar, is left by himself.-
