I was in Teamspeak with two pirates when I noticed something very strange.

You see, in most server communities, the people are tightly knit enough so that friendships and rivalries occur by destiny, almost. There isn't enough interaction to mold and twist the fates of our situations.

...This is not the case in Massivecraft.

You see, in this community, every interaction you make changes your situation. Every detour you make, every person you talk to... If you step back, everything you have done has a consequence.

Try walking around Regalia, getting yourself involved like you normally do. But as you walk, think about this... Remember how you met your friends, and what simple mis-step you made to meet those brilliant guys/girls?

The marvelous thing about this however, is that while Massivecraft works in such a way where every action has it's consequences, it is visible enough that you can actually see the result of every interaction very quickly. The way people talk to you, the way people think about you... It's quite fascinating, in my opinion.

So, folks. I implore you readers to pick out that one moment you think changed your experience the most. Perhaps meeting your faction leader? Or that particular RP encounter that helped you meet one of your best friends on the server? Please, share!

Mine would of been when I was complaining in General chat a few months back about what to do, as this was my first multiplayer server. These people from greek took me in, and I spent the next 5 days mining out a HUGE mountain, as a dwarven kingdom, from 7am in the morning to 1am that night. They practically were my mentors, and I learnt majority ofMinecraft and Massivecraft from them.

My real defining moment was joining Osai, it helped me get my story back on track after a demonic-dragon-slaying time-travel... thing. I met a lot of my RP friends through Osai and its associates, and a lot of my RP friends from before were allies. Well, that or making the secret plan thing.

Joining Sanagard.

It was the second faction I join on the server. The first was full of vampires who drew swords on me and I just managed to escape by locking my self in a room and teleporting out (finding some stone brick in a chest in the process). Anyway from there I was very cautious about joining factions, the first impression was pretty bad. I joined sangard and my opinion changed. It was still a very small faction then ( I was the 5th member I think). I quickly became an officer and I began collecting silver to start my own faction. After fighting off a few raids and building up the city I left southward bound until I found an island. There I created my faction, southstone, which stands to this day. Shortly before I left sangard began to fall apart. Just recently, after being sold, it disbanded. I have reclaimed the base and plan to restore it to its former glory.

In short. Joining southstone is what led me to be what I am today here on massivecraft. It provided me a place to stay, a place to collect funds, and a place from which to access the island I built my faction on.

My defining moment was deciding that there were a few things wrong in Massivecraft, and as a concerquence applied for staff.

I think it worked out quite well.

While I was thinking of my defining moment, I just realized that I have no "best" friend. XD

I feel that I have two truly wonderful moments.

Of course when I joined 9thLegion. They were my first faction, and I'm still very much loyal to them, even in the murk of running my own little faction.

And of course the first day LadyHeretic handed me a Chronikatr Bible. I've met so many people, gained a bit of fame, started said faction, fell in love, and had the best of times harassing LadyHeretic again and again.

There have been many, influencial moments. But the moment that has influenced my gaming experience the most happened as soon as I stepped forth into the medieval realm, Alexis_Jewel announced that she was recruiting new members. I joined this faction to gain resources but was astonished to see all the members, allies and homes that were set perfectly into their little areas. I eventually made some friends in the faction and was happy to see the every person from this small community of players.
And that, would be my defining moment.

Mine would be when me and a friend went to raid a faction, when we got stuck in a hole a person who was originally there to kill us and was from a different faction than the one we were going to raid, persuaded us to join their faction. If I hadn't agreed and joined their faction I would never of started training my mcstats. While we have our differences now, they definitely made a large impact on my experience on massivecraft, I don't think I'd be where I am right now if it wasn't for them. They were Yukuro. Although now known as Chronikatr.

Definitely joining Sentinels. My whole social interaction with all of the wonderful people of massivecraft would never have evolved without it, and they really gave me a strong family mentality to my friends on massive.

I have two great moments:
First off, when I had first logged onto Massivecraft, Strider the leader of Dovahkiin was the first person to ever talk to me. I joined his faction and made a few friends and I went on from there.
Secondly, was meeting Osai and OctoberGwen. She welcomed me and helped a lot of my RolePlay skillZ. Even though I was in many other factions, I always visited Osai.

One of my best defining moments would be meeting the guy who made this post itself. Tink.

I've followed him around for the past 3 months, and I can't think of where I would be now without him. Probably sitting face down in the river.

I can think of 2 moments.
1) Listening to Mecharic when he told me "You know, you can invite a few people to Zion."
2) Joining Osion when Mecharic invited me.

Other good moments for me are mainly RP ones, including the dispute with Thomas Kade, as it gave my character the slight bit more publicity to push me higher in the leagues of RP Fame. [NOTE: Not saying I'm famous at all. I'm saying it made me more well-known.] Now, we are RP friends... as far as I know.
I'd say my short time in Wack's fac was good too, as I got to expand my friend group more, and meet Yani Cydin, Silver's friend and wingman.
Mainly, it's to do with meeting certain RPers, such as Faewyn and BBB.

hmmm for me my defining moment was either winning the osia-argonian war or starting the imperial war. both seem to have gotten me quite well known .

I thought about this actually.
1. Joining Chronikatr and using my potion skills to the max, creating my love for potions even better. (Though I left, because it didnt feel right inside.)
2. Decapitating the man who attempted to steal from me at night.

My defineing moment was watching wolffram burn a large group of people, who were only talking.

My defining moment was probably either joining Chronikatr and then joining Osai. Chronikatr seemed good IMO, and they had me train, and etc, I made a few friends. But, I was unhappy with one of the members, and to your surprise, it isn't heretic. However, when I joined Osai, I finally felt welcomed as I currently see no problems with the members, and they wont just call me a spy because of the faction I joined before. Osai was the first faction to not jump to that i am a spy, for the first time. This felt good, knowing someone really trusts me. Ive learned how to successfully roleplay, I don't have anyone pissing straight on me, and I have raised my mcmmo to help defend anyone who I am allowed to defend. Not to mention a very nice leader running Osai :P

I've a few for different reasons, so do pardon me if this is a tad long.

My first "moment" was when I decided to guard the roads outside Silveredge. I was RP'ing a snooty elf whom wanted to kill any bandits or thieves out of Silveredge (ie control nubs who wanted to massacre people outside the safezone). I met so many people in battle there, it helped me become a (do pardon my arrogance) great pvp'er. Not because my bows was 1000, or I had god armor but because I constantly had to evolve my tactics. Using cobwebs, tnt, or just a body of water as means for my victory. Often I had to fight in 2v1 *coughAssemblyandSentilnal55cough* situations. I met a lot of people that I fought in those days. Grailen, Assembly, Senilnal55, Prestatamore and countless others come to mind. To this day I still have people pm'ing me in local how they will "get revenge" for the hunting I did 6 months ago. Love it. That period of my time on Massive spread my name quite a bit.

Now, before Regalia opened it's doors, I had a fair few friends here; Prestatamore, DezyPuppy, Zaonort, Clockart, Funkyhadesive, Boom77777, even 'ol TaxConsumption. But when Regalia came about, I wanted a house. Badly.

Ever since I heard Regalia was coming out, I saved up my money (cough abused Igel's shop cough) to get the funds needed. Sadly, the announcement was random, so I ended up with a lowly house in the Merchant District. However, a few weeks later the house closest to spawn opened up. I moved in at once, and began decorating the place...

I rp about my house all the time, and dare I say my name is more well known now then it was when I fully hunted bandits. With my "slightly grumpier, dwarven-accent using elf" rp in full swing, I met an array of people. Everyone from LadyHeretic to Desmond_Diseos, from Feawyn to Lord_Archcangel (though myself and Arch did have some scraps back in Riverwood...) from Mernmerti himself to Buffythecreeperslayer. I joined role-play staff, I gave back to a community that helped me when I had severe depression, and as Tinks, someone I've known for 2 years said my experience has forever changed.

I would have to say my defining moment was when I downloaded teamspeak, again, on my computer. I had just joined the server a couple of days ago and joined a small faction by the name of Alya, or something along those lines. I was tempted to leave the faction, and the server, because I was bored; however, I saw there was a teamspeak. After downloading teamspeak, I met a group of people that I am happy to call my friends: PurpleStarship, BabaManga, and ToothPuppet. They were building the amazing city of Avgard, and I offered my help. After ditching teamspeak and hopping onto Skype, they began to teach me about the people of Massive, how the economy works, etc. This nightlong Skype call led me to leave my old faction and join Avgard. Joining Avgard allowed me to meet many interesting people. A few of these people include MonMarty and Tom1804.

Another effect downloading teamspeak had was me discovering the forums and wiki, which led to me roleplaying on the forums and in-game.

If not for teamspeak, I wouldn't have these amazing friends, I wouldn't have RP'd on the forums or in-game, become a moderator, and possibly even be on this server anymore.

I have had several "Defining Moments" in my time on massivecraft, even coming into the recent history category...

  1. Meeting ThomasOverMany on another website. He introduced me to Massivecraft an I haven't regretted it since :D
  2. When VSTC (my fist faction) was raided by... Alamut I think it was, back when they were still the gods of pvp. That inspired a healthy fear of raiders in me that still affects my gameplay to this day.
  3. When Pristina (the first) collapsed and the leadership of VSTC when haywire. With our former leader banned by proxy of being NickBarry's sibling we were left with no set leadership. The faction then split into Osion and Ventari(VSTC) with Thomas and I founding the new faction Osion. We then managed to get about half the old members of VSTC to join us, some of whom I still play with today (namely Tricky_Rickey).
  4. When I purchased Osion from ThomasOverMany and we relocated to our mountaintop fortress city. This is defining in that I had never truly led a faction before and this was my first shot at it. I think I did pretty well, as the faction grew and expanded until I left. I even made an empire or sorts that included a number of subfactions. The fortress also defined how I would defend myself into the future, with better defenses then the enemy could defeat.
  5. The Osai-Argonia war. It basically showed both me and the server that I couldn't protect something to save my life. I think that was also when the joke about me always surrendering started up.
  6. Giving out a loan to XBlack_PanterX. This was the very start of the Mechbank concept that has helped so many people do so many things. It also gave me a reputation for trust-ability that few other members can match (unless you have folks trusting you to store some of their silver of course).
And that's about it I think. I don't really have any uberclose ties to people (ThomasOverMany, Srox101/bubbleman, Favouredzpv, and maybe OctoberGwen) but I do have overall ties to the community.

probably have two defining moments in my history as a player.

My first would be, when I was in my first faction, named Frosthold. This was back when Daendroc was a recent addition to the server, premiums were pretty rare and Lukkerdam wasn't an obsidian ruin. The faction got raided by none other than Cowboys1919 (who I seem to recall was still a non-prem at that point). Us being noobs who probably didn't even know what mcmmo was, we obviously got obliterated. Obliterated to such a point that we couldn't understand why we couldn't defeat this adversary. This absolute ass-kicking inspired me to aspire to be a competent pvper. While I by no means am a PvP god, but I'd be much worse if not for that event.

My second defining moment would be when I was an architect in argonia. They had need of another house design and I offered to build a design. Upon completing this design, Grailen saw this and, to my dismay, informed me of it's... Shortcomings (in retrospect, he was right). This put me in something of a poor mood. But, on further contemplation, and examination of the other buildings, I came to the revelation that, perhaps my buildings weren't that great, and, I set out to change that. About 6 months down the line, without meaning to sound arrogant, my buildings skills are not the best on the server, but pretty close. And, in retrospect, the builds I made before this defining moment would probably trigger my gag reflex compared to my current standards.

So, Cowboys/Grailen... Thanks for making me realise how bad I sucked back then :D

...mine would probably be going to the ceardia spawn, and a guy coming up to me and saying "hey, you're the Grey Assassin, you're a really good writer!". This guy was watchdogeditor, the first RPer I ever met on the server, despite being online for over six months. Over a year on, i'm now second in command of the little faction I started with him, and of which i built the majority.
My second would probably be deciding to built a massive tower, to the left of a pair of tents which served as Athiktos' ithania base. Then, a couple of people built some small houses nearby, so i built a big wall around them, and then more people built small houses. This eventually became stormblade city, and is now the ancestral seat of the faction.

I have ALOT of great friend that helped me on the server. First of All my first faction Officer I kinda forgot his name but I know it start's with jimmy! He told me stuff about premiums about the vampire race and gave me a place to stay while Iam starting out! He is my first hero in massivecraft and a teacher in massivecraft! So you probably think I miss out my 1st faction leader so it is WolfLover3 yea so at that time I though he were offline for like a year so I greifted him and as you know he kicked me out of his faction. So I then panic that my storage is being restricted from me opening it but that didn't stop me from going to other faction to start out. I went to An Orc faction that is 100% not a friendly faction when I first got in there setting up a storage once again they pulled be out to war to kill enemy's and Iam being forced by then on the war and Iam a noob for mcmmo. So I decided to move on to IronKnigh which is Lead by EternalDragon91 and he is My 1st Faction Leader that is kind to me in massivecraft! And so he teaches me about faction and some famous faction and people on massivecraft and IronKnight is a very friendly and peaceful faction! There for there is a Member or a Student call "KatyJosh and "eethybeefy999" So I then stay in IronKnoght for a couple of weeks and I saw a mystery Girl in the faction which is not from our faction and I don't know how to check other people's faction at that time. So I went up to hr and bravely asked her "Who are you and why are you here?" She replied me that she is a Ally of Me and I was relief at that time and she told me she is from GoldKnight aka butterknight And as you know I joined them as the 3rd faction member of them and while Iam there I feel like Iam in the most kindess faction EVER! She told me about Mcmmo, darkroom,Statics and alot of cool people and plugin and at that time they are on war with Arthain! And Arthain is tooooo OP for us at that time and we have no chance of winning and after a few surrender and talks we became trustable allies and something happen and blah blah blah GoldKnight disbanded when I was sick and I made my own faction and stuff and NOW I have alot of trustable allies and friend!!!

Soo much moments that they cannot be mentioned... This server have given me a wonderfull time, and been an escape from the real world at a rainy day. MassiveCraft... I (H) U!

I've been on for nearly a month and a half and in this short time I think some of my greatest times on this server have usually stemmed from the emperors tavern.
Rohghash tends to make a friend or two and will end up going off on some random adventure. Be it through the streets and sewers of regalia or travelling to the outskirts of ithania.
Also when I first joined Osai, during my time there I met so many great players and its always nice to be able to walk the streets of regalia and see so many familiar faces. Now with Rohghash off on his travels again I look forward to many many more in the future. :D

-necroed-
inviting Omnomivore to the server has to be it for me, i would have never gotten as into it as i have without that.

Hehe~ You are a terrible influence, and I thank you for it.

-----

My most defining moment was meeting commanderpizza, for as a consequent of that relationship I was introduced to quite a few people, invited into a close-knit faction, and given the immediate foundations for learning a bit about faction leadership.

My relationships extensively branched off of this, and I was really able to mold out Aria as a character, learn more about lore, and feel more involved in the roleplay of the server.

Now I know or am at least acquainted to quite a large number of people on the server, own my own faction, and am always seeking to become more proficient in my roleplay and in increasing my knowledge of lore and rules.

I am always defining myself with defining moments...but the first one would be joining Hisoka, before which I was basically an elven hermit living in the wilderness of one of the abandoned towns close to Ceardia spawn, killing skellies for arrows. The second may end up as applying for roleplay staff, however that is still defining me.

Those said however, perhaps the biggest and formost defining moment I have had with regard to the server at all, would be discovering it in medieval roleplay servers google search, then reading everything on the website and wiki there was about the server. I learned a lot of history that way...and so was able to recognize Thomasovermany when I played quake with him one time, and so invited him to Hisoka, and reunited him with Mecharic. :D

Hmm, I might as well toss in, no matter how old the Thread or the players within it.
~One day, I was an officer of Zion. I was quite inactive, and the power of the faction had transferred to Xanderab . I before was quite a high-held officer, mainly as I was very friendly to the Recruits, I made some of the ragers of the faction actually quite calm, and I just was your normal RPer.
One day however, I was notified that there was this girl that had joined the faction, just joined the server, in fact, but left very soon after with her own faction named Blackthorn. Apparently she was considered a "Rebellious member".
Within that, another officer of Zion was actually be rather mean to the girl, whom accidently got herself stuck in the portal room. He refused to open the door, and just began insulting her. I opened the door of course, and I took the girl's side. I then left Zion, because unlike currently, it was rather quiet, inactive, and lonely for a person whom gets on as often as me at the times I do. {{Shout to Xanderab, you actually have done a brilliant job with Zion so far, but what I am mentioning currently is sorta a state of Depression Zion had hit at some point. }}
I ended up being great friends with her, and gained the Officer-Rank of the faction.
That faction's name was Blackthorn.
After that, I sorta began to spring into action, meeting tons of more people, and gaining more tips and tricks from them. No matter how old you are, even the newer ones will inspire you. :D Let alone, had I had not defend Jj from the rogue officer, and had been invited to her faction, I perhaps would not have been on the server, as the only reason I had stayed was because I felt like I had started anew, and that my start was going to be a Golden one.

~I suppose another moment was when a girl had posted in General Forums of the Forums a actually rather sad story, mentioning how lonely and afraid the main character had felt. Within response, I decided to post as though the other emotions, the one telling the main character to get up, to look around, that she truly is not alone, as long as she has her heart, she would always be with someone.

Then me and her got warned for posting in the wrong section.

So we got moved into the Light-RP. After that, I expected to be done with it, but she later on asked me to continue on, as she told me that she loved the words I had told her, perhaps we could sprout it into a RP. That is how I had began my first meeting and relation with 10LenKagamine01.

~One more, you don't have to fret too much...
Another was perhaps when I had joined Osai.
Yes, as hated/loved Osai was, I went there for a bit mainly for a break from all the hub-bub going on in Blackthorn, and I probably still am today...
Now, when I had joined, I didn't know anyone in the faction at all, all I know was I was removed from Chronikatr, and suddenly was sent into a faction that Chronikatr hated so much. I was a bit worried by it, but I soon realized I didn't need to be. I had met so many nice people in the faction, I was rather happy about it, actually. You never had to freak out and steal if you didn't have something. They just gave it to you. Ask and you shall receive, is basically what it was. Within the faction though, I began to RP with a few of them, along the names of DayZ4 and BuffyCreepSlayer. I eventually began to RP with them so much, we began to talk and converse a lot OOC. Eventually we began to keep contact with each other Via Skype or Massivecraft, although I sadly now can only contact one of them Via Skype, joining Osai certainly was a big jump between being a Non-Premium PVP Nut with a few enemies or a Heavy RPer with a few friends.

I have three defying moments the first two was as my first RP character Eloraid and my third was as Tyfran.

The first one was when I was mining out my underground farm in SouthStone and I was RPing in general with some pirates, they were boasting about there piratyness (that's a word now). So I started a war with the two pirate factions by calling them cum guzzling butt pirates, one faction tried to join forces with the other pirates but the other didn't so they started sighing while still threatening us landlovers. I felt proud of my work, starting a war with no negative affects for me.

The second moment when I started a fight between me and some guy, I raided him on his birthday so he got angry and tried to attack me. Knowing he was comming I mustered my army of wolves and waited in an abandon house. When he came he only saw five of my wolves and thought he could take them but when he saw me with twenty five others he crapped himself and ran but I chased him down and killed him. He kept trying until all we could do was laugh and now were friends.

My last moment was in the tavern, I was comforting Melody Lovegood because she as stared of vampires. We then walked into the tavern where one of my vampire friends was getting cornered, so I went help them spread out the crowd. This in itself wod be a good moment because it showed me something about Tyfran even through I made him. What happened next changed the way I look at nobles. So what happened was while I was protecting the vampire, Melody Lovegood grabbed a stake and started threatening the vampire, this made me mad she was scared of vampires but once she had them outnumbered she was ready to kill them. Hated that and. Ow all them me were protective of her, I couldn't believe it. So now Tyfran dislike most nobles now unless they prove not to be snobs.

The Crimson Inquistion. I didn't get to partake in too many events as a member but when I did I had a blast. Still have all the uniforms locked away in chests at my house.

Hmm, I have quite somethings that altered Elena to what she is now.

1. Meeting with Ivan Auditore (Who is, in my opinion, not such a great RPer) allowed Elena to get into the faction of Snowcrest and meet Aria Tezari. (Omnomivore).

2. Having an intense argument with Athena Lovegood (lorenofwgkta), Elise Cooper (littlemsclumsy) and others. Which, for some reason, made Elena friends with most of them.

3. There is a lot more, including meeting up with other great folks, but that's just too much to list really...

Well, I guess I have quite a few.

1. That intense argument with Elena. Darknesscrusher (That was REALLY insane)

2. The Crimson Inquisition which really shaped everything for it and changed me alot. (I still have my old uniforms (H))

3. Oh and let us not forget all of the wonderful people I have met and the great MassiveCraft community! (H)

defining moment: When I spawned in Silveredge that year ago, I saw Vampire and said: "awesome". And so, like a noob, I wandered into the wilderness and got infected. Lived in a cave for a while, joined Trigent, worked my way to the top, making stupid moves like selling my blood (well, it sorta worked), And now, cured myself for a life of sitting under a tree, playing pan pipes.

Mine probably being stumbling upon littlemsclumsy and Plecy attempting to cut someone's tongue out, ending up with Carrie getting a lovely burn all along her left arm and having to yank someone's tongue out. She also now has a huge fear of fire.

Thanks you guys. Thanks.
