After a quick bit of research I've found that the flat earth theory was a long time dead & buried by medieval times... but... I still think it would be cool if the hypothetical or lore 'shape' of the MassiveCraft "planet" was something cool like:

  • a massive cube
  • a square/cubey ring type thing
  • a giant crescent or pointy "C" shape (in honour of Cay)
  • a Moebius strip

What do you think?

I suppose it's easier to conceptualise North, South, East and West with a cube as opposed to a giant crescent.

๖ۣۜKids think the world isn't flat.
Gonna sail too far is going to launch you off the Earth, they someday will!

I think it would be interesting if the world of Aloria was believed to be flat.

The theory of the world being flat was not dead by the medieval times, in fact this time period was probably when the theory was most prominent. The reason for this was the theory of the world being round was first proposed by Pythagoras in the 6th century BCE and proved by another scientist (can never remember or spell his name) in the 4th century BCE. However by the time of the medieval era, much of the knowledge of the Greeks and Romans had been lost. The medieval era was a time of religious dominance in which science had little, if any, progression.

The theory of the world being round was revisited around the renaissance era, and then Christopher Columbus sort of takes credit for everybody elses work.

I think it is a Massive Cube because it is always a Cube in Minecraft.

Like DovahCube!
Only Cubes exist in the world of Minecraft! :D
Ha ha ha, nah. A cube is only logical being that this is minecraft.. xD

a triangle :D

How about a cube with a Saturn style ring comprised of smaller cubes of varying sizes with a cube moon? Also a big hole (ala rebuilt Death Star) where you can see through to Ganisha.

I think that Aloria shouldn't be a planet, it should be part of a solar system that exists in the back of massive space turtles, that's what bedrock is, the shell of the turtle .:O_O:. oh... my... god... maybe the voices at the end of minecraft... are the turtles O_O and the other realms (nether and end) are on other turtles O_O oh... my... mind blow....

I fancy it's heart shaped, representative of all the love that's shared by Aloria's inhabitants. Love does, in fact, make the world go round. So why can't it make it go heart?

Love makes the world go around? Darling Darling! You have to learn!

Money Makes The World Go Around!

So, it will be shaped as a Giant Regal.

Either Moebius strip, or a cube from the inside. (Kinda like the Halo "Shield Worlds" Where the living space was surrounding the sun and the moon).
Or it could just be images created by the machines when they took over, and now all of Aloria has been conquered by the machines.
One just never knows...

I'd rather see Aloria as a flat world, with un-discovered continents. If you fall of at one of the borders of the world, you just keep falling into the void. Altough i do wonder what shape the world would have.. Maybe Aloria is a giant shaped rectangle. Maybe it's flat! I also wonder if the roleplaying would be in a real life, rather then in minecraft and all the cubes and shiz. I think the shape depends on what you look at it. Maybe it changes in time.. So many questions.

Some 4D shape resembling a cube...how it works, I have no idea, why I say this...I have no idea...
How can it not be 4D? Even if the world were flat, it would still retain depth, otherwise if you swung your pickaxe at the floor you were stood in you would go straight through it (and generate a third spacial dimension in the process). And if the world were simply 3D then everything would be frozen in an instant because the universe we existed in hadn't heard of time!

(Ahem, Azas please do explain yourself.)

Well, actually if you want a factual answer then here it is: we can not know the shape until the staff announces "Right, no more worlds... You have enough!" Only then by study of how each land is structured and with a possible statement from staff about the location of each continent may we decide what shape Aloria actually is. oh and Reginald is that idea slightly inspired by the anime called "Avatar: The Legend Of Korra Book 2 spirits"?

We Naga think we are on the surface of a giant egg.

๖ۣۜTo be serious, I would think everyone would suspect the world as flat.

There so far has been no way (From my current n00b search of history, at least) or form in which 'we' have found that Aloria is really 'round'. I would think that it would sort of be Christopher Columbus all over again, he thinks he landed on a shore of a nearby familiar island, but turns out to dock at an island far off from where he originally ways. Yet he would still think the land is flat until mapmakers and real explorers begin looking pretty hard.

What? is that like a Last Airbender ripoff/continuation? and I guess that answers your question with a no. I was more thinking of the legend of a city that floats on the back of a giant turtle.

I actually think it would almost be like a lot of square planets, connected by oceans and "Land bridges", so like a little galaxy, because each continent you "warp" to, which makes me feel like an entirely different world.
So, cube planets, connected by flying oceans and floating land.
Which is the most logical decision of course

But these oceans couldn't be just floating water, because there's an ocean floor.:^)
