We've Moved On...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ailleann was never one to get in the way of someone's happiness, but it has never been this hard before. She was sitting at her desk surrounded by dozens of open books. She had a quill in her hand, parchment in front of her, and her reading glasses which were slipped low on her nose, though she did nothing to fix them.
With tired eyes she sighed and leaned back in her chair, setting her quill down on her desk and bringing her scarf up to cover her nose and mouth; something that had become a source of comfort for her while she was away from Regalia. When she pulled up her scarf she was expecting a cardinal red tone and a hint of the Nook she loved so much,
but alas--
Ailleann looked down at the dull blue scarf, smelling of fresh linen. The smell and color were just find but it just didn't feel right to the young Ailor. She pulled her knees up to her chest and buried her head between her knees. Although there was no one around, she didn't want to risk anyone seeing this moment of weakness and vulnerability.
This moment where she let herself just exist and feel.
After a few moments she uncurled from her makeshift shell and planted her feet back on the floorboards. She picked up her quill, pushed up her glasses, and started writing again. There were no tears on her cheeks. She was not sad. She was not in constant heartbreak. She was fine. They've moved on.
She told herself this over and over again, trying to convince herself that it was true each time. Anything to stop herself from remembering the mistakes of her past and the one phrase she just can't seem to shake from her mind.
Gods…
Why did I leave you?
